  1. You would think that the embassy would get tired of answering emails and phone calls about all this and just change their website to make it clearer.
Efficiency is not part of the government plan. What is clear to one person might still be confusing to another. And of course some people read but don't understand, and others still just don't read. So maybe it will reduce the volume of calls but not eliminate the need for the person who answers. Plus for those who call the embassy makes a buck on that too.

yep I called them twice and I think it costs me about $5 each time.

  2. We couldn't get my wife's driver's license today because her I-94 had expired by two days (we waited too long to get her SSN). So now I understand we need to bring her green card, EAD, or a new I-94 for her to get her Georgia driver's license.

I just wanted to let others know I was told that she can use her foreign license until she gets her green card and that all we needed to do is make sure she carries documents with her showing she has a case pending (for her AOS?) What a pain this is though. I don't know who to believe. One person at the DMV told me she could drive for a year on a foreign license. Then one cop told me a month only. Then today I called the state number for The DMV and was told she can drive on it until she gets her green card....however long that takes. Then I just read on the dmv website for Georgia that a foreigner doesn't need a Georgia license unless they become a resident. When it comes to immigration and government I see so many shades of grey.

Anyways .....everyone make sure you get your SSN and driver's license before your I-94 (stamp in passport) expires:)

  3. Well, I have told Elena when the time comes for her interview to speak English but only if she understands what is being asked of her. I mean, her English is pretty good if one speaks slowly enough and restricts their vocabulary a bit. Will the CO do this? I dunno. So English yes, but Russian to understand the interviewer if necessary. I get different vibes on this subject. I think it is more important to understand what is being asked of you than trying to impress the CO with English skills that are not quite good enough conduct the interview. Just my thoughts........

I thought Olga's English was good. We even had good conversations on the phone (as much as 30min). Maybe she can only understand me because I talk a little slower for her and pause between some words. I was surprised when she told me that she was scolded for her English at the interview.

My understanding is the Consular will interview her in English. I just hope you don't get the consular we got.... she is tough.

  4. theres a difference in coaching and practicing

i would go over questions that she is going to get asked

it would make the spouse more comfortable to know what to expect

coaching would be more like telling them to answer a specific way

like in an attempt to hide facts or an attempt to make things appear a certain way.

You can practice, coach, or whatever you want to call it but, just don't include them in your emails that you give your consular for proof of ongoing relationship.

  5. You're looking at it the right way, a rejection is just a delay, not the be-all, end-all of the visa process.

If you're still waiting on NOA II, build up your "evidence" and practice all questions/answers, etc. You should have plenty of time to prepare for an interview that's going to be at least a few months off.

    Good luck!

It is a big NO NO if the consular finds out there was any coaching of the interview questions, so my lawyer told me. He said it can look like you are creating a fraud.

But then again ...my lack of coaching may have caused our 221g.

  6. We sent in 1,320 pages of emails and chats .....and now we are approved!
That's great - but it begs the question - why didn't you provide it in the first place?

    Cheers!

Because we thought 50 emails was enough. Apparently my fiancee didn't do so well at the interview and the consular wanted more proof. The consular told my fiancee she didn't think we knew each other long enough to be in love. (started talking Oct 6 2005 and filed March 30 2006) or maybe she didn't like that we met on the internet. My feeling is it was just another hoop to jump through because the consular had doubts, but then again I don't really know what the consular was thinking.

  7. My girl used MOM and got the results the same day. She told the nice woman at MOM that people on the internet said they were rude. And MOM said tell those people we are not:) and put in a good word for us. So there it is. The appeal of MOM is same day results. Having her medical on Monday and interveiw on Tuesday kept my fiancee's trip shorter.

Thanks Slim for the advice. She was able to get a copy of the shot records while she was there.

  8. My fiancee got a 221g after her interview for more emails and phone cards.

I think I didn't send her my employer letter, but the 221g didn't ask for it. I was thinking my fiancee only has to bring what is asked for on the 221g. Should I send the employer letter to her or will they not issue another 221g for it? Will they notice the missing employer letter later and issue a second 221g for it too?

  9. Congratulations to you Brad! I think my girl's demeanor hurt the interview because she was nervous and didn't answer the questions convincingly. Also our red flag: didn't know each long enough to be in love per society standards or consul standards. (Oct 2 filed March 30)

  10. Barry,

I am very sorry to hear of your situation! And I realy understand how your girl feels...

Spam them with the e-mails and send them all of your photographs. Looks like it is never "too much" of proof.

I am optimistic:) Olga is staying in Moscow and will take more evidence in herself. Our lawyer advised us to try and get everything done before the weekend. To that end we are printing 500 emails and every yahoo chat. ( well maybe not all:)) She will give them everything and then we wait.

  11. Our visa was denied. 2 trips(with proof)....9 calling cards(only showing the pin and back of the cards) 4 emails ( printed) a week since March.....maybe 10 or more letters and cards...pictures....

She didn't get a chance to show her ring and receipt.

They said they needed more emails and phone cards. What more do they want?

Sorry to hear about the denials. But I think there is more at play than just what time of the month it is and what CO you get. Other factors contribute to painting a solid relationship. Such as the age between USC petitioner and the Russian beneficiary. -AK, The tone of the conversation during the interview if it isn't all love and "stuff". -Slim. The CO's aren't that stupid; they are trying to prevent the divorce after immigration benefit scenario the best they can. I still give them benefit of the doubt. Remember, the burden of proof lies with the applicants seeking a visa.

Our age is difference is 7 years. You are right ....I think she didn't do so good on the questions...she was nervous so she didn't answer with love in her eyes.

I'll write later have to print 500 emails.......

  12. sounds just like a request for further evidence, Barry.
Looks like I destroyed my lawyer's 100% success rate.

Looks like your lawyer's 100% idiot.

Talk about bad luck! I can't get a hold of my lawyer. I've been trying to call him for hours and his line has been forwarded to a disconnected line! I've been talking to him a year and now his line is down!

No, they do a great job. I'm sure many people on this site use them. Everything was in order. I don't know what to do.

  13. Sorry.

ok my fiancee just had her interview at the moscow embassy and received a 221g which is guess is not a denial? It's a request for more evidence. They asked for more emails and phone cards. My fiancee took a 50 page stack of emails and 9 calling cards already. She had pictures..... proof of the second trip(visa stamps, tickets, ) 10 or more cards and letters.

I don't think they saw the engagement ring and they didn't ask for the reciept.

The interviewer said she couldn't understand how we could decide to get married after a short time and gave Olga a hard time about her English. Her English is good! I think Olga choked on the inverview some. Does anyone know if sending more emails and phoof will really help? should I call my congressman instead?

How long do we have for the 221g? The embassy is closed or I could call and ask.
