Thank you all so much in helping us out in giving your opinions.
Amanda
Based on our experience, it took 104 days to approve our K-1 petition. I am engaged to a Canadian too so in my opinion I would go ahead and file the K-1, and depending on where your petition is sent you might be able to have your July wedding. BUT...have a back up wedding date in mind if you do this. Also, if you get married as planned then you will have to file a K-3 which from what I understand takes far longer to process. Boiler's idea was a good one as an alternative. Either way, you are in for some wait time. Your fiancé can stay with you as long as s/he goes home for the interview. Best of luck with whatever you decide.
It is possible depending on the service center you are going through.I agree with these posts. It is certainly possible if you are going through a fast service center (forget it if you're going through California) and if you are also able to go through the consulate in Vancouver, it is faster than Montreal. You could try, but have a back up in case the unforseen happens.
Good luck!

Okay, here it is. I am an American that is engaged to a Canadian. In the beginning we had planned for me to move to Canada but just recently we have changed plans and he will be coming to the US. Our wedding is July 23 of this year and from what I can tell we don't have enough time for a k-1 to go through. He will not be coming back to the States until a few weeks before the wedding and if there is no other way, he will leave a week or so after. We would really like it if he could stay and not have to go back after the wedding.
What I am wanting is for someone to tell me that I am correct in saying that we don't have enough time for a K-1 visa and really what our options are. We really don't like the idea of having to wait any more than we have to for us to be together and if we go with a K-3 visa we know that we will have to wait longer.
Please if anyone could give me some information or different options that I am not seeing we would gladly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Amanda

Hi all,
I just wanted to take some time and thank everyone for such a wonderful site. I was able to get my I-130 package out in the mail yesterday and I know I wouldn't have been able to do that without the help of this site and the people. Thanks VJ
