Denied 11/5/15
Case arrived back to USCIS 2/1/16
Received NOIR 10/2/16
RFE for NOIR received by USCIS on 10/13 (I did my own RFE)
-
It took me 15 months from Denial to receive my NOIR. Ghana is absolutely ridiculous.
-
Hello, I'm awaiting reaffirmation as well.
-
That may be a blessing in disguise.
Sounds like it!
-
I'm in Ky, u need a persons name and DOB only here to get life insurance.
-
No u don't. The laws differ from state to state from my understanding.
-
My husband was on my medical and life insurance policies and I was still denied...
-
Thank you for sharing. I am working on my appeal now for the NOIR. I will be sending it off next week. It is tedious!!!

I can finally give the happiest update! we got reaffirmed letter yesterday dated 26th of august cant believe we are almost at the end! so does anybody have idea how long it usualy takes for returned petition to get back to embassy? any experiences? thank you!
Good Afternoon,
May I ask you how long it took to hear back for your reaffirmation? Also did you have to submit a rebuttal? Please advise.

i received an email yesterday from USCIS stating that an officer has been assigned my case for review and it could take another 60 days... smh.
-
I'm so sorry you case was returned to USCIS. We waited 13 months before we received our NOIR. Our case was reaffirmed in July. When you receive your NOIR it will state why the embassy returned the case. You will have 30 days to respond. Most likely it will be you don't have a bonafide marriage. At least gather all your evidence of your relationship. In some instances people never received a NOIR. It was just reaffirmed.
Thank you for your response.

Good day, I haven't shared much on this site but I have been following. My case is currently at USCIS Nebraska almost 7 months now with no NOIR/NOID. Our first interview at Ghana she told my husband that we needed a co sponsor (oct 5 2015) and made him come back a month later (nov 7).. On that day she took the forms and made him wait 4 hours. After she simply told him that she couldn't give the visa. So til this day I have no clue why we were denied. I am not even sure how to prepare for the Noir/Noid since we were given a reason. I've contacted my Senator who has been helpful with monthly updates, but this waiting is absolutely terrible.

The main issue seems to be how much time couples have spent together, is that an issue in your case?
I wish that was an issue at least I could make some since of what happened today.
-
On 10/7 my husband and I went for our interview, we were giving a slip that states we needed a co-sponsor (which I thought was odd being that I make over the required about per the government guidelines) and he was advised to come back on today 11/5. My husband returned today and he gave the co-sponsor affidavit and was told to wait. He waited for hours and was the last of three people there. The white co with initials km advised him after reviewing our pictures she wasn't convinced our marriage was real. ? I follow this site and quietly did EVERYTHING that others failed to do. Any piece of evidence that could've been turned in I did. Chats, emails, video logs, western union scripts, my insurance info, post cards, letters, affidavits of acknowledgement to our marriage... There was nothing missing...I currently cover him on my Athem bluecross blue shield medical insurance... He's the beneficiary on my life policies, hell, we even have our names tattooed on each other. But she states after viewing our pictures she isn't convinced our marriage is real. Dear God... ?

I think Texas and one other state only ones who accept foreign marriage licenses
I'm in KY and they took it with no problems. I would still say speak to a manager there. It makes no sense to me... but what do I know. I know CA, IN, GA and NYC all accept them too for sure.
-
Sorry ur in Colorado not Texas @lketter, Idk why I thought you were in TX.
-
Speak to management because according to their website as it relates to name changes the department will accept a foreign marriage or divorce certificate as proof of a name change if it is written in English or is accompanied by a certified translation in English. If you were actually told that, it's incorrect. (www.dps.texas.gov/internetforms/Forms/DL-16P.pdf) <<<< it's there...It was changed there with no problems but the DMV won't accept the marriage license as its not issued in the states and a new name change on my SS card doesn't matter to the DMV.
-
Well in Colorado I can't get my name change on my drivers license or ID thru DMV as they don't recognize other states let alone foreign marriage license. So I can't even change my bank accounts its frustrating to say the least.
Did you go to the social security office with your marriage license? If so what were you told?
-
SS, then everything else follows...
-
I spoke to my county clerk folks this morning about changing my last name to my husband's last name. I was told that we (both) have to apply for Informal Marriage License and we both have to be present.
Even though I explained to the lady that my husband is abroad and can't be here. She said that's the only way to do it in Texas.
I doubt this is the first time someone is having to deal with name change using a foreign marriage certificate.
Please help!
You change your name through the Social Security Office... Take your Marriage Certificate with you. Why are you the county clerk's office?

Do you have a sponsor? If you do you should be fine, just asked your husband was there anything else that she asked that she was concerned with so he can have proof so yall can over come it, good luck ??
I have a sponsor, but I was confused as to why I needed one when I make 200% more than the federal guidelines.. I am really confused. And that was the only thing on the list. I have a copy of it. And ty..

No ap started September 5,2014, they called Tuesday and said he had another interview which was today and she told him she felt like he was paying me for a green card ?, so now our case is being sent back to US ?
Wooow! These Co's are absolutely unbelievable! I went to Ghana for my Husband's interview. We went on 10/7/15... When she finally called him up there to interview him she wouldn't let me stand by him she ordered me to have a seat. It was was the white woman KM.. She has requested that he go back with a joint sponsor on Nov 5th, but at the bottom of his form she also checked AP. So I am concerned.
Ghana CR/1R RETURNS AND RE AFFIRMATION

It was all lies.
The co stated my husband couldn't answer questions about my educational background. That he didn't know his family members who were in attendance of our wedding and submitted affidavits acknowledging our marriage. She stated that our marriage was a sham. My Senatoe has been helping me since I submitted my petition initially. (From day one, and checks in with me every 30 days.)
