I imported my car a few days ago. It was no problem. Brought my car, ownership and compliance letter from Ford. The whole process took 15 minutes with no issues. No cost.

My 19 year old son has now decided that he would like to have his green card. My k1-visa adjustment of status has been sent already. Does anyone know what documents I need to complete or what I need to do to complete his entry as a k2. He was listed on the initial petition but did not come to the US when I did. thank you!

Also, does he need to stay in the US for any period of time as I am doing on the K1-visa? He is a student in Canada and would not be able to do that.

Can I obtain a Social Security number as soon as I go through the Port of Entry with my K-1 Visa or do I have to wait? (New York state)

I called DMV to ask what they needed from me to register my car in the US. They indicated that they needed the compliance letter from the car Manufacturer (in my case it's Ford) stamped by Customs and proof of insurance. I called Customs and they told me that this was correct and that I needed to get the compliance letter from Ford. They told me as the car was a Ford there was no duty, but there was no duty anyway because I was allowed to bring one car over. I called Ford twice and got two different answers. The first guy told me that I needed to go to a local dealership and they would give me the letter...to the tune of over $100. I called Ford back again today and was advised that I could simply go on the website "shopfordgear" and in the Billing Sheet section order the compliance letter online for $18 and it would be emailed to me. All they need is the VIN number. Just some information for those of you wondering about this process. This stressed me out so I posted in hopes that it would help someone. :-)

Don't worry that is normal I think. I had the same thing. in my case, the following day the message changed to say "issued".

I never did a 156 either. I gathered the packet 3 docs and faced it back. Almost immediately they gave me next step. My experience was same as chalandraae.

I had my interview July 8, was approved and now just waiting for the passport.

Did you get packet 3? I got this by email I believe. You need to do that then you get packet 4 and then schedule your interview, then schedule your medical to occur prior to your interview. Once you send the packet 3 pages back it goes quickly.

It should be easier before because the physician at the medical will give you any missing vaccines.

You should get something in writing and your approved petition in the mail.

Not sure about your country, but in Canada the physician at your medical will assist with you any vaccinations that you cannot prove (they will give them to you for a fee if you require them). Some on the list are not needed due to your age etc. Bring what proof you have and if you have no proof then go to your family doctor and request titres (blood test) to see what vaccines you are immunized against and bring this proof to your medical.

I had my interview at the consulate in Montreal on July 8 and was approved for the K-1. My status changed July 18 from Ready to Administrative processing. Reading the posts, this seems normal but the site says that only the odd case goes to administrative processing and may take 60 days to resolve. What is this all about? any ideas?
