  1. Hello,

I recently finished everything and got into the states with a cr1 visa. At the embassy in my country during the interview I was told to sign a selective service paper and he just made me sign and write my name on it. The paper itself has spaces for my name and signatyre along with print witness name and witness stuff. I was given a copy of the paper and told to go to the post office or post it within a month or something like that. I went to the post office as soon as I got her being confused already with the witness names and titles because I didn't know who that was supposed to be. The guy at the post office gave me a form for selective service but it has a blank space for social security number which I don't have yet and which I believe I can only apply for when I get my green card so what do I do? I wad told my green card would be here within the next 6 months. Oh and another thing... At the immigration in the airport, everything went well except one tiny thing. The officer who received me told me my cr1 would probably be changed to ir1 and sent me to another section and the officer there made me sign a thing saying I have to adjust my status 3 months before the 2nd anniversary of being given which I'm guessing is the date I was issued a visa and not the day I entered the states. The confusing part about that though is the officer was talking to another officer and the guy looking through my papers asked him about ir1 and he asked him exactly you this " I don't have to do it though, right?" and the other guy said yeah and so he stapled a piece of paper on my passport and was told what it is and stuff. Is that normal? Could my cr1 have been changed into ir1 the same day? Oh and can I work now? Do I need a permit or something?

    Thank you

  2. Hello all,

Finally after more than 2 years since the start of the process we have an interview date on may 23rd. I was wondering if I was missing anything to bring to the interview. Here are the thing I was gonna bring

    I-130 papers

    Interview invitation printout

Evidence (photos and tickets and all that)

    Marriage certificate

Birth certificate for both of us

    Passport

Medical report (examination is on the 19th and we get the report on may 20)

Anything official or non official papers we have we are gonna bring with us

    Police clearance report

Am I missing anything? If so, I would greatly appreciate a reminder.

    Thank you

  3. Hello,

I just received an email from nvc saying our application is in queue at the embassy of Nepal. We have a priority date of July 15 2014. I have a few questions

    1. What does priority date mean exactly?

    2. How long does it often take to get a set date for an interview? Is May 2016 realistic?

    3. Oh and do I need a medical test before an interview?

    Thank you

  4. Hello,

My wife and I sent over the IV and the AOS packages separately and they confirmed that they received the AOS package that we sent in last on March 4th. He told us "physical mail in process" and it won't be up for review for 45 days. I had some questions about this which I'm gonna list below:

    1. I read somewhere that when the package is scanned you get an email. What does that mean? They already confirmed they received it.

    2. Do we get an interview date once the 45 days period is over if everything is in order?

    3. If everything goes correctly, when do you reckon the interview date is going to be?

    4. I reckon the interview might be in late April or early may. Do you think that is a fair assumption?

    5. What do we expect next? Nvc is a tough process as I've learned from other people on the forum. Is this the last thing before the interview if they don't need more evidence?

    Thank you all

P.s: a lot of people have told me to update my timelines and I've been too lazy to do it so I'm gonna make time to do it now.

  5. Hello,

We are at the stage of sending in the IV and aos packets but I think my wife made a mistake. I have a couple of questions about it and other topics

    1. She sent in the IV packet alone without the aos packet. Is that okay?

    2. We are planning to send both the aos and iv packets again. Should we just send the aos packet now?

    3. She sent in the IV packet to the address on the bar coded cover sheet. Is that where it should be sent?

    4. In the packets, is it necessary to have the cover letter?

    5. How do you get a confirmation of nvc receiving your packets?

    Thank you!

  6. Hello,

Me and my spouse have been doing the immigration process for 1 and a half years and finally we are able to send in the IV packets and the aos packets to nvc. My questions are:

    1. If nvc receives our packets by 21st of January. How long would it take for them to review it?

    2. If it reaches them on January 21st and after the review. What month do you reckon the interview could be in? I'm thinking April but I'm not really sure how it works. I just want a general idea of when so we can plan accordingly.

    3. Is there a limited timeframe or a deadline to this pricess? It's been 1 and a half years since we've started doing this. If so, should we rush?

    Thank you.

  7. Yup.Trying to save my marriage. Moms gonna be taken care of by her sister who I trust very much. She came back about 4 months ago when we had my mom in the hospital and that's after the earthquake in Nepal. Just wanna see her is all and I can't ask her to go her anymore. She's done that over and over again for the past 3 years. It feels wrong after a while that I can't go see her just once and she has to go all the way again and again. I'm still gonna apply even if no hope... That's what you do for family. Maybe there's a miracle. I know you guys probably read this on a daily basis in this forum but you guys probably know that it's very painful to be away from your loved ones.

  8. I'm a 22 year old guy who's about to lose his wife because I can't make it there and after 2 years if work and school and working her butt off.. She is just tired. If I don't go. I lose her and I don't have much that can prove I will come back except a sick mother who I take care of and who I wouldn't leave behind even if the word fell apart and emotional stuff is barely anything to the embassy people and they need something practical but I can pay for my own expenses and have my mom's shop which I look after. Small business. Is there no hope for me?

  9. Hello,

I wanted to ask something that is very urgent so any help would be much appreciated. I am at the beginning of the nvc process and I have to go to America to meet my spouse asap because of a family emergency. Is it possible that I could apply for a tourist visa from Nepal and come back before the visa date ends? Would it be near to impossible to get the visa for me because of my ongoing proess? Does it affect my process at all if I apply for the tourist visa? How do I prove that I am gonna come back and not just stay there. What are the requirements for a tourist visa?

    Thank you!

  10. No I am a nepali citizen living in nepal. My wife is american and she lives in in america right now. I need to go to europe for a couple of months. I am guessing as long as i respond to the required paperworks on time and make it on time for the interview, it should be fine? Are there any rules saying i cant leave the country while the process of visa is ongoing?

  11. Hello,

Me and my wife are currently getting ready to send in the IV and AOS package. I had a question. Can I leave to go to Europe for family visit for a couple of months while this process is going on? I don't wanna take any risks so I just wanna know if me leaving for a couple of months would affect the visa process at all.

    Thank you.

  12. Hello,

I recently paid and filled out the DS-260 in which the address for my wife who is the petitioner has the same address as before but she is moved out after filling the DS-260. my question is.

    1. Can we do the change of address and send in the i-865 with the IV and AOS package?

    2. We lost some papers that the NVC sent us after the I-130 confirmation. (we have the confirmation) It's the invoice for the AOS fees and NVC welcome letter that we lost. Do we need it? If we do .. How do we get it back?

    Thank you all.

  13. hi

your wife as the petitioner MUST file an i864 as the primary sponsor

if her grandparents are combining their income between themselves, one of the grandparents will file the i864 and the other will file the i864A as his or her household member

no documents of yours, just the beneficiaries information

the ez form is only for those who don't need joint spons

So the sponsors who are my wife's grandparents file their taxes jointly. Does that mean they are both sponsors? We wanted it so that only her grandfather would be the sponsor and not her grandmother because her income is not a lot. In the tax information they have both of their names cause they file jointly.

  14. Hello,

My wife who is an US citizen doesn't meet the income requirement so her grandparents are sponsoring me. My questions are

    1. Does my wife need to fill out form i-864 too even if she doesn't make enough? She was told by someone that they didn't have to in the same situation. Only their joint sponsor had to.

    2. in the form i-864 it asks for my (the applicant's) mailing address as well. Are they gonna be sending me documents too? cause I don't think it asked for my mailing address for the I-130 ever.

    3. Is the nvc case number and the IIN number the same?

    4. The i-864 has different categories as you know (the i-864 EZ) and such.. I'm still confused about it. If my wife who diesn't make enough is petitioning for me and we have joint sponsor. which form do we pick to fill out?

    Thank you!!!

  15. Hello,

My wife who is an US citizen recently found a sponsor for us and I had a couple of confusions I hope you guys could help with. My questions are

    1. Now that we have a joint sponsor, we need to send in AOS package including i-864 from the sponsor too right?

    2. Would they need to fill out the I-864 Ez?

    3. Is my wife still filling out the I-864?

    4. How many years of tax returns would the joint sponsor need? Is it 3 years or 1 year? and how many pay stubs?

    Thank you all in advance!!

  16. Hello,

My wife who is a US citizen is making her grandmother joint sponsor for me. I have a few questions I am confused about, but first my wife didn't make enough last year according to her tax returns. She needs to make enough for household of 2 including me. My questions are

    1. My wife's grandma and her husband are the only one living in their house, but recently, her son has moved in to live with them who is well over 21. Does he count as a household member too? If not, how many household members does she need to qualify for? Does it include me and my wife?

    3. How much would she need to make exactly?

    4. After sending in the AOS and IV package. How long will the interview be in?

Thank you for all your help!

  17. Hello,

We paid for the AOS package and the payment option for the IV package is available now. I have some questions

    1. If the payment for IV is available that means the DS-261 (choice of agent) has been reviewed right?

    2. My wife has VA benefits because of her father and the benefits will be over in 5 months. She's working and doesn't make enough, but with the VA benefits she makes enough. Since we only have 5 months left to the VA and we need to show 6 months of income of which 2 months has already passed where we have made enough and we've already paid for the AOS package but still don't have things ready to send in the AOS or the IV packet. Should we send the packets now with an income level lower than what we need or wait till we have 6 months of proper income to send in the packet?

    3. Can't find any sponsors. How much would we need to make for 6 months to qualify?

    4. If we do make enough for 6 months according to the poverty guideline for 2015 for 2 people household. Is that all the visa being approved depend upon or are there other areas where they could cancel the thing?

    Thank you for any help.
