  1. All over again...

Well, this isn't the first time. When I applied for my (conditional) GC it took me over 2 years to get my card. I cannot help it, whenever I'm nervous my hands always sweating (a lot) and official stuff always makes me nervous. It took 3 biometrics, several InfoPass, 2 sets of Police Clearance that time until they approved my application and got my GC. Woooo hooo..... so happy, but (somehow) I knew it's going to happen again... LOL.

Yes, it does. Last month I had my biometrics, two times in a month, both rejected. Sigh... I was almoooossttt passed the first biometrics, if only the lady didn't keep on spray my hand with water and made it so wet (then I got nervous, yikes). Last week, the 'love letter' in our mailbox, (sigh) a NOA asked me to provide Police Clearance and affidafit letter.

    :bonk::bonk::bonk::bonk::bonk:

  2. Hello there,

Just a suggestion, I think everything about immigration-mailing stuff is worth to pay a bit more for tracking the package. If you don't wanna pay too much for Fedex or UPS, USPS does have a certified mail that cost a bit more than regular mailing but still cheap. Just ask them for a tracking system, and if you wanna keep it on budget, don't pay more for the signature receipt thing (I'm not sure what they call it but they always offer that extra option when you ask for tracking system).

    Good luck!

  3. Sad to say, if they said they never got it back, we do have to pay because we have to fill it under lost or stollen. I did read it somewhere in the instruction, if you still fill it under 'never received', they probably gonna reject your application.

There is no fee needed for filing I-90 in this case.

Filing Fee if you are filing because:
    • You never received your Permanent Resident card; or
    • Your Permanent Resident card was issued with incorrect information because of a USCIS administrative error;
Then there is no fee required. Please review the Where to File Instructions, below, if you are filing for these reasons. Total filing fee = $0.

  4. Hello all,

Anyone ever fill out I-90 (Application for Replacement PR card)? There's some questions there that I'm not sure if my answer is right, maybe you can give me your opinion...

    Part 3: Processing Information.

    - Question on the form: City of Residence where you applied for an Immigrant Visa or Adjustment Status

My question: Is this means current city where I live in (my mailing address) or is it the city where I applied for K-1 Visa (doesn't make sense to me....)

    - Question on the form: Consulate where Immigrant Visa was issued or USCIS office where status was Adjusted

I sent my I-485 to Chicago Lockbox, so I guess this means the answer is National Benefits Center, correct?

Just for your info, my case is messed up.. ^_^ I submitted my application on April 2006 (yep, two years ago), did my biometrics on the same year.

Sept 06 got a notification my case was transffered to CSC. Jan 07 we moved so I submitted Change of Address (this where the problem starts).

Feb 07, my online case status said they sent a document to me but I never received it. Called them couple times with no results.

April 07 (or was it March?) made an infopass, found out both of my biometrics rejected. So, as suggested, I submitted Police Clearance to CSC.

    Sept 07 did 3rd biometrics.

Nov 07 made infopass just to get annoyed by the officer (hahaha... she's really didn't help anything, just told me to wait and try write a letter to CSC). I did write a letter to find out my case status (on the online status is still the Feb 07 status!)

Jan 08 got a repplied letter from CSC, just saying 'check your status online or call customer service' SIGH......

Today I called customer service, they said my case WAS approved in Feb 07 and the card was mailed on Feb 07. I never received both. I freak out! So she said I should submit I-90 (application for replacement card) but since they never got any those mail back so now I gotta submit as if it lost or stollen. And pay $370 (Ugh.... another money). Anyway, as long as I can get the card, I guess I gotta do what I gotta do.

Though I really confused why whenever I had my infopass the lady there said the other thing (they seems couldn't know my case is approved or not), I just want this done...

Sorry for a long story... I hope if someone has similar case, this can help. Do bugs them couple times, I guess it's worth it. :crying:

  5. Thank you so much doodles!

That makes me feel better now, there's a way out.

    Engie,

Get an infopass appointment and they will tell you if your case is still with the FBI. Also, i had my local senator 'involved' who wrote to the FBI and they told them that a) the case was still there and B) the date it was sent to them.

(The senator being involved did not help my case or speed anything up but it made me feel better.)

    Hope that helps.

  6. Hi Doodles75,

Maybe this is a stupid question, how do you know you were on name check processing?

It's just, I'm kind of frustrated with my case now :crying: , I applied for AOS on April 2006 and it's been one and half year I still in limbo. I've done the third biometrics last month and up until now the online case status still showing the same status I had on Feb'07. I'm thinking to make an infopass soon just to find out what's going on. Or should I tried to call the customer sevice first, before I make an infopass appointment? Honestly, I hate trying to call them because they only give the same info as in the online site. Not mentioning the loooong waiting time.

Thank you! And congratulation on your case!:thumbs:

    THANKS everybody!!!

You guys on here are such a good support system. Some of you have elped keep me sane!!

Oh dear i cant stop smiling

  7. Thank you so much Aurea,

Actually, I have some further questions regarding this, can I ask you through private email (if you don't mind) or just post it here? It's more like the detail of how you getting through all the situations.

    Thanks again!

    HI engie

I'm a filipina married to a US Citizen. I gave birth to our child in the philippines. We applied a US passport for our son at the US embassy Manila. No need to file a petition for your sons or daughters as long as either one of you(the parents) is a US Citizen. But make sure you have proofs that you were together at the time you got pregnant.

    Hello all,

I just wanna know what's your opinion about this. I and my husband are thinking about what if I give birth of our child in my home country, Indonesia. I come here with K1 visa and right now I still waiting for my GC to be approved (long story, I've been waiting for almost 2 years now). I'm not pregnant (yet) right now, we were just throwing out ideas, what if I in the future I give birth to our child in Indonesia so I'll be surrounded by my family and friends (of course, he'll be there also), will it be a hassle for the child (to bring it back to US and claim the citizenship)?

What become our consideration is, my parents, they want to be with me so much, when I give birth. And my dad condition is not making it possible for a long flight to US (it takes about 24 hours to fly here, not counting the land traveling to our city right now).

I'm not pretty sure how it's gonna work out, this idea just crossed in our mind. Probably, I'll fly to Indonesia when I'm 5 month pregnant and stay there until the child about 3 or 4 months? I'm not sure either how old a child is allowed in a long flight, I gotta find that out also.

Anyone has anything about this? I appreciate any idea, comment, suggestion, anything at all. I read one posting about give birth in other country (eventhough it's a nasty case, the lady in Italy), one of the reply there gives me a bit hope of this idea (seems like I only need to register the child birth in embassy and he/she can get US passport automatically?)

    Thank you so much!

  8. Thumbs up for VJ! Without VJ, I won't be here right now with my better half.

Many people asked me how did we do it all without lawyer at all! Well, I got 'my lawyers' here, lol. We're not rich so we can't afford a lawyer but VJ makes it all possible for us to unite in US. I recommend this site to everyone.

Thanks for all VJs who never bored answering my questions and help me with their sharings!

  10. Hi everyone! ME & My Husband are planning to bring my Mother & Siblings to united states for a short visit next year and My husband will provide them an invitation letter & affidavit of support (stating that we will be responsible for their short stay in the United States), Is there any other documents needed that could be a help for their tourist visa application? please advise. thanks....

Invitation letter is nice but bottomline is they will have to show they can pay their own way. Your affidavit of support doesn't count.

They have to prove that they have valid reasons for them HAVING to return to their country!

May be different in your country but that's the way it is in the Philippines.

My fams are from Philippines too, however have been living in UAE for the past 15 years. I guess UAE & Philippines has similar tourist visa requirements such as Bank Statements, Properties etc....

    anyways, Salamat....

Hi, I'm from Indonesia and I just heard similar case like yours from a friend of mine in Indonesia. Her parents want to visit her for a short one and the embassy reject their visa application because they bring "too much" of evidence from US side. Though they ever travelled to US, that doesn't help much! (usually embassy granted visa easily to people that ever travelled to US).

Bring evidence of attachment to home country would be good, that's showing them that your family does intend it to be a short visit, not moving here.

    Good luck!

  11. Hello...

USCIS has new form for i-131 and I read the instructions still I couldn't figure out what should I fill for 'Class of Admission'.

The old form doesn't have this question. My AOS still pending (due to rejected fingerprints), my current AP is expired end of Sept and we have plan to visit my parents in Indonesia this Xmas. I want to submit this AP before the new fee. I'm here on K1 visa, got married last year and still waiting for my AOS to be approved.

Anyone can help me please? Thank you so much!

  12. First of all, sorry for my curiousity why you need them all so urgently (driving licence and bank account), because (if it's me) I would wait for the marriage certificate to move on afterwards (I don't like the trouble to change name in all of those stuff). It's only couple weeks from now before you get your marriage certificate.

As for driving licence, you still can use your country driving licence for a year (check it with your DMV). Too bad in my origin country we drive on the other side of road. I live more than a year without driving licence here and I find it's quite easy to travel around with public trans.

For Bank Account... if you have Washington Mutual Bank around, check with them. My friend just told me that WM Bank doesn't require SSN (wish I knew this last year).

It's quite easy to change name on SSN once you already had it.

  13. Don't rely on the online change of address. What happen to me: I changed the address online, got the number, make a call (as suggested on the form) to notify them also. I got the confirmation by letter my address has changed. Then, a month later, I still got NOA on my previous address! Luckily we notified the post office on the previous city and they forwarded all our mails to the new address.

I called the USCIS again and this time she sent me AR-11 by mail. I hope they got it right this time...

  14. Hi all,

Been away long from the forum and I just wanna share with you all my experience of GC application. My NOA is April 19, 2006 (Yep, more than a year but still no GC yet). I've done my fingerprint twice, once in May '06 and once in Sept '06. End of Sept, got a letter they moved my case to CSC. Great, I thought I will got my GC soon after that.

We moved on Feb, from MA to RI, so I applied change of adress form online. At the same month, I got another letter for fingerprint appointment. Woo hoo... third one, I think I beat everybody record in doing fingerprints (yeah, right!).

Anyway, I thought something's wrong, I made an infopass meeting, explain the situation (I've done twice fingerprint) but my mistake is I DIDN'T tell the officer that my case is moved to CSC. So, she said nothing's wrong with my record, I don't have to go for the third fingerprint. She's gonna write to the other office and try to find out what's going on and I just have to wait for the update.

Another three months... I still haven't heard anything, so I make another infopass appointment. Met with the same lady, I asked her what's going on with my case, this time I mentioned my case is moved to CSC. She checked the record in CSC area (I guess, because I couldn't see what's she's doing in her computer) and said my both of fingerprints were rejected! That's why my case is on hold for months... gosh... Everything else is okay.

She told me to get police records from every city I've been and send them all to CSC, hopefully after that there's a progress on my case.

    Now that's what I'm doing....

  15. Hi all,

I wonder if anyone has case similar with mine and can share their experience with me. I got NOA for my AOS - case transfer to CSC, it was in Sept 22. And today I'm surprise that I got a letter appoinment for Biometrics. (Why? You said) I'm surprised because I already had my biometrics done in end of May!

Anyone has similar experience with me? Will you share with me?

    Thank you so much,

  16. Hi all,

maybe anyone ever has similar case with me? I submit my AP package almost a month ago (separate from my AOS package, which submitted in April) and I got my NOA dated July 27. I keep checking and checking my status on USCIS online system and it keep saying that my case number cannot be found in their automated system. I tried the 1-800 numbers and same things happen. Do you think I should worried and if yes, what should I do? Any suggestion?

I have a plan to go abroad next month so yes, I'm nervous about the whole situation now.

And I'm not fully understand about Infopass (I often read it in forum, as far as I know it's only for any case that overdue yet, am I correct?) but I saw in timeline section, one person got her AP only in 3 weeks from her NOA through Infopass.

Any suggestion or any comment at all, I appreciate it.

Thank you so much and have a good evening!

  17. Hi Rose,

I'm not sure about how does it work in your country, I'm just guessing maybe it's the same as mine (I'm from Indo by the way), yes, the embassy doesn't allowed any other person accompanying you to go inside the embassy unless you have a really good reason for that (such as handicap probably, or I ever went there accompanied my grandma base on her age, she's too old to go there alone). Anyway, with your fiance being there won't help much either.

They won't asked weird question anyway, just take it easy. And if you have this relation with your fiance for real, you won't have anything to lie about anyway, so you'll be okay. If you were worried about language barrier, I think most of embassy people also understand native language, so you'll be okay anyway. I think the embassy people are smart enough, they can tell people whom lied or just nervous.

Last but not least, good luck to you two!

HEllo Its good to know that everything works alright. By the way im from philippines too and i have my X before and his also an american but everything didnot work on us together. Before i go back in here in phils. I meet my fiance right now and show me the love more than i could ever ask for his family was good and we already been approve in our petition and soon to be back home hopefuly this year. Do you have any idea if would that be ok if my fiance will be with me during my interview so that he can support me with the question will be ever as on our relationship??? because he try to call onetime and the lady said that i'll be the only allow to go inside during the final interview ... could you tell me who true is this? please help me about this@!!!

Thank you and hope to hear from you soon. God bless!

    Rose :help:

  18. Hi I'm new to the group, and I read the faq's. I couldn't find an answer to my question. I would like to know if anyone knows the cost of the medical exam, and councelor fees etc. once your packet is received? Thanks in advanced....

I guess it depends on the country your fiance live in. I live in Indonesia and I only paid about $60 for the medical exam package and it's still valid when I submitted my AOS.

    Welcome and good luck!

  19. From reading peoples experiences on this site it seems that a 5 month turnaround from NOA to green card is extremely hopeful! If you have your hearts set on going home in September I would definitely apply for the AP - some people do get it really quick, and some people don't (mine took 130 days). I guess you do run the risk of getting your AP and being called for an interview about the same time, and therefore wasting the money.....so I suppose it depends how much you want to go home at that specific time. Have you looked up the processing dates for your local office to see what month month they are currently processing? Have you had your biometrics done yet?

    Thank you Claire,

Yes, I done my biometrics on April 29. I was hoping my interview date won't be this long but up until now I haven't heard anything from them (sigh.... ^_^).

Thank you, I haven't thought to check out the processing date of my local office.

    Thanks again,
