Hi, My husband is going for his interview at the beginning of December. I am trying to get my employment letter etc together for him to take with him as evidence that I have a job and that I am actually living in the US because we moved from Japan last month. The problem is that I am a dog groomer and that I work basically for myself and rent a space in a grooming salon. I work for cash so it is hard to predict my my income for the year and I don't have pay stubs because I take home cash everyday. The owner of the salon has written a letter stating what I roughly make now but as I establish more clients my salary will go up. Does the figure on the letter matter that much? I have a co-sponser that filed an I-864 as well and everything was approved as is. I just want him to have as much as possible to prove that I am making money and living here. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, Is there anywhere in Montreal that my husband can get his police check and receive the results on the same day? My husband will be in Montreal for a week. We have the fingerprint one from the RCMP but his name on his Canadian social insurance card is different than what is on everything else and we need the extra one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to update. We went to the Osaka police dept and were able to apply for a police certificate with my husband's passport, Japanese residence card, and the welcome letter from NVC. They wanted something that had his address in Canada on it. The guy didn't speak any English at all but we were able to get a translator to make sure we understood everything. It takes 10 days to process.

Hello, I have read everyone's recommendations and situations on here. My husband is a Canadian citizen I am a USC. We currently live in Japan together and have been living in Japan since 2012. We are leaving Japan in September of this year. My husband's interview will be in Montreal as we were not sure whether everything would be processed quickly enough to have it in Japan. In Sept. I am returning to the US and he will go to Canada and stay with family until we finish the process.

I am currently gathering evidence of domicile or intent to prove domicile in the US and scared because Montreal is strict. The items I have are:

1)Bank account-I have updated the addresses recently to go to my permanent address

2)Savings account

3)proof of money transfers from Japan to US

4)letter from my mother-we will be staying in her house

5)voter registration card

6)a letter stating that I will be taking up an apprenticship upon returning to the US and contact information from my boss etc

7)credit card statements

8)flight/travel itinerary-leaving Japan

9)resignation from my job in Japan

10)our lease expiration-Japan

We are moving basically from Japan to the US, so I was following the intent to establish domicile. Is there anything else that I can work on getting to show them that I will be working and living there? Any help input anything would be greatly appreciated.

Okay. My husband and I are getting ready to submit our I-864 and supporting evidence. I called NVC a week ago and talked to someone and asked whether to send electronic or paper processing. They suggested paper is moving a bit quicker. Is this true? I looked at a couple of spread sheets someone put up. I just wanted to see what people were experiencing in the past month or so. I am leaning toward paper.

Hello, I just posted something else about this. My husband is Canadian and we have lived in Japan for the past 3 years. We have received our NOA1 and NOA2 from USCIS as well as a checklist and application number and invoice number from NVC. Are these the correct forms that we need to take to get his police check? Just double checking before we head to the police station.

We do have the checklist from NVC. I guess we will take that and try it.

I beleive this has been asked before. My husband is Canadian and we have lived in Japan for the past 3 years. We are trying to get his police certificate. We got our approval notice from USCIS and now we have our application number and invoice number from NVC. The Japanese police are very picky about giving out these checks. What does he need to take with him to the police station to get this done? We have read the US Embassy website and the Japanese prefectural police websites. The US Embassy does not issue a letter specifically requesting this check. I am trying to find out what other people have done that have lived in Japan.
