  1. I'm starting to panic a little. My fiancé and I sent our I-129F and package almost exactly a year ago in September 2014. We received a RFE at the end of May, and we submitted our response and they acknowledged it by June 1st. When I checked online and with an attorney I saw that I should expect the next step to be within 87 days but that has come and gone. We submitted an inquiry into the case but are told that we can expect a response to that only by September 24th. I'm getting very nervous and anxious and I really want us to start our lives together finally. This has been such a long process. Please say something reassuring. Could our case be lost or something?

  2. Thank you for all the responses and I appreciate your feedback.

If there is a legal way to work (Even if I don't get paid straight away) or get some sort of income while waiting for the EAD then that would be great. I am still young and though I save pretty much everything I make there are so many costs involved, I wouldn't want to waste 3 months when I could be earning. On the other hand I read some unreliable sources quoting 6-8 months to get the EAD so I am a little relieved, at least 3 months isn't too bad.

I'll keep those of you who are interested posted on whether I find a way that enables you to earn while on a K-1.

    Thanks!

Any update on this? How did it work out?

  3. Hi there,

After you tie the knot you'll apply for the AOS and the EAD(Employment Authorization Card). The EAD usually comes within 90 days or less which allows you to work while waiting for your AOS. So you were almost right with answering your own question :)

I know it bites waiting to work esp with a fast pace industry like music but time flies when your with your special one :)

Feel free to ask any questions if you have any along the way. :)

I was under the impression that the EAD was only good until the Visa expires (which is within 90 days of entering the country, anyway). Am I off base?

  4. Received NOA2, waiting for further correspondance.

Upon my arrival to the US, as a Canadian citizen, can I continue to work for the Canadian company I currently work for remotely from home, and receive compensation in my Canadian bank accounts until I marry and receive an EAD? The company I work for intends to keep me on for their US operations once I am eligible to work within the US, but doesn't seem to be taking interest in helping me with the process, which is fine. REALLLLLY nervous about not being able to work for several months while I'm waiting for paperwork to be processed. How long does this usually take? We plan to elope immediately after I enter and get this show on the road.
