  1. Hi!

How did you mail your packet? My husband just mailed it to CAL Service Center today but without being certified. I'm afraid that our packet might not be received. I was upset at my husband about this, he's very sorry as well but I just can't get over it. I know it's very silly. Any suggestion about tracking? Sorry about not being helped instead I asked. Good Luck!

  2. I'm on the process of completing my documents for AOS but i have some problem with this I-693. I've been "shopping" around to get a good deal to transfer my vaccination information to form I-693, but they are all expensive. The lowest I got is $120. I think that is so expensive right! Is there anybody there who can help me find a cheaper one....please. I will really appreciate it!

    thanks so much guys!

I think it's resonable, mine was 200$. My friend's cost was 400$. Some places they charge 500$. I think yours is the lowest price. :hehe:

  3. I think I understand what your feeling is, I've been through a lot of this stuff before. Don't trust the page of processing time. Try to do something as my husband and I did, you have nothing to lose. If it's been over 120 days, I think it's time to write a letter to your congressman, try to choose a small office in your area. I don't think the infopass works for this matter, they probably may tell you and show you that page again, don't waste your time. In my opinion, you should write a letter to a small congressman office. We did it before, after only 4-5 days, we got one letter from our congressman, which informed us that he's been checking up on our case. A week after I received 2 mails from USCIS, which were EAD and the initial interview letter. And my husband and I went to the interview about one and a half month from that day, and got approved at spot. Try to do something, I understand everything, it's normal to feel like that, I used to have that feeling before because my friends finished their cases in two or three months only, I was so frastrated. Nothing's wrong to keep thinking about it. Good Luck!!!!

P.S. Our case might have been forgotten before, but we were persistent, and kept nagging them, they might have been thought that "It's enough", just issue us the interview letter so that we will not bother them again. Ha Ha Ha!!!!

  4. A joint bank account always works. We never try, we never know. If I were you, I would go to Wells Fargo Bank or Washington Mutual Bank, I think they just want to have something that can identify yourself. Or they might need you to show them one of your credit cards or debit cards. Try everywhere, it's worth to spend your time with this stuff. After you get approved, no more hassle. Good Luck!!!! :D

  5. My husband and I didn't hire any lawyer, we did everything by ourselves. We had so much trouble because of RFE. We did so many things such as made some infopass, wrote a letter to our congressman, called 1800 number uncountably and etc. Some forms are fillable, you just have to be patient for writing the same things on every application. And about the medical check by the civic surgeon, every clinic has different cost, but the result is gonna be the same, try to call them and find out, which one is the lowest cost. Mine was only $200.-(included everything such as vaccination, etc.), it took only three days to get everything done for this process. My total AOS process was "7 months". If we had hired a lawyer, he/she would have done the same thing as we did. One friend of mine finished her AOS only three months, her husband and she did everything by themselves. In my opinion, if I were you, I wouldn't hire a lawyer to do the things that we can do, unless your case is very complicated. I heard a lot of stories about hiring lawyers to finish AOS case, they just gonna ask you to fill out those forms first or they gonna ask you to prepare everything and send it to them, then they gonna fill out your information on all forms and you just sign all forms and send the packet to USCIS by yourself. The cost probably about 2,000-3000$ plus Immigration Fee.

What I sent before are as the following:

    1. 70$ fingerprint fee

    2. I-485 - Application for Adjustment of Status or to Register Permanent Residence.

    3. Fee as required by check or money order, stapled to Form-I385($325)

    4. G-325A - Biographic Information(14 yrs. and older)

    5. A copy of Birth Certificate(w/certified English translation)

    6. Copy of I-94 or other evidence of current immigration status

    7. Copies of passport pages with photo, identity data, visas and US entry stamps.

    8. Copies of any other INS documents pertaining to applicant, such as extensions of status(I-797), change of status, I20, IAP-66, CDL/CID forms, etc.

    9. I-864 - Enforceable Affidavit of Support from pettitioner, notarized and including:

-Proof of citizenship or lawful permanent resident status

-current and/or recent letters of employment

-Federal Tax Returns for las three years(most recent on top)

    10. I693 Medical and vaccination form(in sealed envelope)

    11. I130 relative visa petition($190) or approval notice of I130/I360/I129F with supporting documents

    12. G325A of petitioner, if applying for a spouse

    13. Proof of Petitioner's permanent resident or US. citizen status

    14. Documents establishing relationship - marriage

    15. Completed from WR-702 or WR 703

    16. Appropritate photos in an envelope stapled to from WR 702 or WR 703

    17. I765 with $180 filing fee

My case took so long, because my husband was requested for an additional evidence(The proof of income for I485). We had so much stress during that time, never gave up and then we made it. My case got approved at spot on Monday. Hope my post's useful for all you guys. Thanks everyone for posting good threads, they're very helpful and useful. Good Luck!!! :P(F)

  6. Hi!

I just got approved the other day. My husband and I filed tax extension for year 2005. Our officer asked us about that too, and we told him that we filed extension. He just looked through the other papers.(Of course, the proof of income too) In my opinion, if they already issued us the interview letter, it means our application is already accepted. They just want to have proof of the sponsor's income. You might as well bring your stub checks, which can prove that you have enough income to be a sponsor. But I think you're fine. We brought our paper of tax extension with us, we weren't asked for that. Our interview took only 10-15 minutes. The officer didn't request for my EAD or anything, he just took my I-94 from my passport, there's no stamp and he just handed me the form I-292, which is the completion of my applications, I never heard of that before. But it's OK. I got approved. Hope everyone gets a good new too. :star:

P.S. I think as long as you have enough income to be a sponsor(without tax return, only W2), you're fine.

  7. Ok, so we have an appointment for our AOS interview on September 6th at the San Francisco local office.

Anyone here who has experiences with interviews in SF? How did it go? What did they ask? What evidence did they look at? etc etc...

We have like 7 weeks do get prepared! Yay!

Hi, I posted about my interview in SF in one topic of Seattle Interview. Sorry I can't remember, where it is. Please look for it, hopefully, it would be useful for you.

  8. Can anyone tell me how their AOS interviews went at the Seattle district office? I have my interview on Aug 15th with Examiner 3. Also, how long after the interview approval did you get your green card in the mail? Do they stamp your passport at the interview for the approval? Has anyone run into a problem with the Seattle office saying they have not completed the background checks yet, even you've gone for your interview?

Any help from persons that have dealt with Seattles office would be great.

Nerves are shooting through my veins.

I have the same questions for the San Francisco office!

Hi, my husband and I went to interview in SF the other day. I got approved at spot. The officer just took my I-94 and issue me an I-292 letter.(It said that I have been granted conditional permanent residence in US) It took only 10-15 minutes for the whole interview. Yesterday, my portfoilo got updated that the welcome notice and the approval notice were mailed on July 25, 2006. Guys, don't worry about anything, just prepare to answer the things that you already put on your all applications. I did answer wrongly for three simple questions, because I was so nervous. My husband said he could give me a hard time, but he didn't. I got approved, because we're real, not fake. Try to prepare as much as possible. By the way, the officer didn't stamp anything on my passport, and didn't say "congratulations" to us, just informed us all the process that INS gonna do after approval and asked us "any questions?" and then I asked "Do you need to have a copy of my passport?" He said "No".(I know, it was very silly question, actually I just wanted to ask about the stamp but I couldn't think about anything better than that, because it's very fast.) We hadn't know that we're done until my husband asked "all set". Yes, that's it. Thanks everyone here for posting threads, which are very helpful for our interview, we learned a lot from you. Good Luck for your interview, Guys!!!!;)

P.S. The officer just made some copies of our wedding's and family party's pictures. We will try to post our interview experience soon. I did write it but I didn't post it because it was very incoherant so I deleted it.

    My timeline:

31 Jan. 06 The I485 response was received.

    15 Jun. 06 EAD's received.

Now Waiting for a green card.

  9. can i get my EAD and SSn right now or not

Hi, how're you doing? If I were you, I would call the customer service to follow up about the EAD and try to get the referral number from them, make an infopass appointment and write a letter to the congressman. I would do these three things altogether. Regarding SSN, I think once you get your EAD, you problably know what you need to do. Don't worry about that. Good Luck. My husband and I've been through the EAD matter before, it was very frastrating.

  10. Hi, my husband and I gonna have an interview on July 24, 2006, we filed for extension as well. My husband does that every year, we dont' know what gonna happen to us on that day, if we have some problems or no problem at all, we're willing to share with you. Pray for us. And I think it's a very good idea to keep my mouth shut until they ask. And I will ask my husband about the confirmation of that extension as well. Actually we were requested for the proof of income before we got an interview appointment. My husband sent W-2 2005 and explaination letter to them, they accepted it and issued me the EAD card and the appointment date. I was worried about that before but my husband told me that it should be fine, because they already accepted that in the first place, why they have to reject us at the interview. If it were not good, it could have been rejected in the first place. Anyway, something could happen on that day, the worst case is: if they need to have that, my husband has to file it as soon as he can, otherwise we have to have the most suffer time again. We don't want to have that for sure.

Please pray for us. And don't worry about that, our case is a study case. We never try, we never know.

We will share with all your guys, when we come back from our interview.

  11. Ok I just finished reading the post about AOS interview in Boston that was filled for in march 2006.We filled ours in december 2005 and I have received my EAD and notice that they received the paperwork needed but as of then no appointment letter for AOS or nothing oh and yeah I got my fingerprints done too.So after I saw this post I was wondering how come theirs was approved after only 4 months and we are still waiting??

BTW CONGRATULATIONS to those lucky two :-)

Hi, my husband and I filed our applications in December 2005 as well, we hadn't received anything until we got the EAD. Now we got our interview date, which is on July 24, 2006. Along the way of our filing process, we were requested for RFE for the proof of support of I485. My suggestion is try to follow up about your EAD first and then once they look up your file they might realize that they might as well arrange time for the interview. It happened to us before. Our guess is: we followed up this case(EAD) by calling 1-800, writing a letter to our congressman and making some infopass appointments. All we followed up about was for EAD only, but we also received our interview appointment as a reward for our effort. Good Luck. ;)

P.S. I forgot to tell you that I just got approved for EAD on June 15, 2006 but I filed all applications on December 20, 2005. And I read some thread here they said that they are more slow than us. Don't worry, but have to follow up and keep nagging them. Ha Ha Ha!!!!!

  12. Jenn:

    Yes, you are correct.

I went and looked up the law regarding this particular problem.

In essence, it does give INS the opportunity to add additional processing time to the case, although the AOS and EAD were filed and paid for as individual applications.

I'm sure there are some of us still wondering why, with having our "K1" fiance visa applications in order and approved, it would take longer than 30 days to process an EAD (after biometrics...and in our case, it has been nearly 6 weeks since biometrics for both EAD and AOS).

Nevertheless, the law is the law.

    So the wait goes on.

For those of you who must add time on to your 90 days because of an RFE...I wouldn't wait longer than the additional time before making an infopass appointment.

Remember, although we are dealing with the "authorities" when dealing with INS, they are still civil servants (yes, they hate to be called that, but when I worked for the FEDS, that is what we were called) and it is our tax dollars and application fees that make their wages!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck to all of you and the Kindest of Regards,

    Lynn and Liam

Hi everyone, thanks for your responses. I will make an InfoPass appointment at the end of May if we don't get our EAD by then. Who knows, USCIS are so misinformed and disorganized that they might not realize I can't apply until 90 days after my RFE submission rather than my NOA. Conveniently, we move down to Phoenix at the end of May, so I'll have the local office nearby. I just hope we'll get it soon!

Another thing , the online site is ridiculously innacurate at predicting timelines. I had my EAD in hand the day before the website showed I had been approved.

    Here's hoping for you !

Do you mean to say that you got your EAD in the mail before the USCIS site was updated reflecting your approval?

    Thanks!

Hey!! Guys! Don't worry about that, believe me.....I had the exact problem like all you guys before. But my husband and I already fixed it. And I agree that you should make an appointment through infopass, because I got the temporary work permit before but I didn't tell them that I was requested for more additional evidence, I wasn't tricky but I didn't know that I wasn't eligible to get the EAD in 90 days after sending the RFE, because I didn't see that part.(after I got back home from my local office I just saw that part) Anyway, I already got EAD and my interview notice on the same day. Actually, I already posted this experience in other topics for a few times, if you haven't seen it and want to know what my husband and I did, please just ask me through this website, I'll try to check as often as I can. ;);)

  13. Anyone else with experience?

Hi! Guys! Actually, I already posted my experience for a few times but I would like to share my experience again. Hope all of you don't get bored before I finish.

Before I got my EAD and my interview notice from MSC, my husband and I received RFE for I-485(proof of supporter's income), we got it around Jan 06 and they received our response on Jan 31, 06. Since then we'd never heard anything from them until June 17, 06. See what we did: did three info pass, called customer service(we got a referral number), wrote a letter to our congressman and read this website's thread everyday. In my opinion, if you haven't gotten your EAD within 90 days after your biometrics, I would suggest you do the same thing as I did. Actually, my husband and I just wanted to follow up about the EAD in the first place, but we got both EAD and our interview mail on the same day. Wow, it's more than what we expected before. My idea is: if you have the same problem like us, just try to get EAD approval first, once they look up your file, they might as well send you the interview notice. Hope, my experiece is useful. Good Luck!!!!

  14. If my income exceed the 125% of poverty line requirement am I required to provide deposit/withdrawl history for my checking account? Will proof of income (income taxes) and employment suffice or should I still seek this information from my bank? Help!!!

My husband just sent his w-2 of 2005 after we were requested for an addtional evidence. After a while we got EAD and an I-485 interview mail, which were mailed at the same time.

  15. Hi,

My new wife and I are just going through paper work - reams and reams of the senseless rubbish (WE HATE THE USCIS!) - and have a quick question...

Does anyone know if it is possible to visit a USCIS office, say Chicago, and apply for the Adjustment of Status in person thus ensuring everything is in order and getting the AOS that day?

    If not, why not?

Do others despise the beuraucratic process and the USCIS with a vehement passion too?

    Will

Hi!!! If I were you, I would file it ASAP. Because now it takes only three months for the whole process. Try to have perfect applications, try not to miss anything and they will not let you wait so long. I understand about preparing a lot of papers but it's just the last preparation. Good Luck.

  16. I'm petitioning for my wife's GC. My F1 wife got a 1 year OPT Employment Authorization Card and used it till it was expired about 2 years ago. On that old Employment Authorization Card, there is an "A Number".

    Questions:

    1. Should she use this A Number at all the applicable questions on her GC applications?

    2. At the beginning of form I-765, which box should I check?

    A. Permission to accept employment

    B. Renewal of my permission to accept employment (attach previous Employment Authorization Document)

    Thanks

I have a F-1 visa as well, when I filed I did put A-(number) from my I-94. Good Luck!

  17. Hi, Guys...hope my case makes all of you feel better....see my timeline first:

22 Dec 05 USCIS received all applications

    28 Dec 05 NOA for I-765, I-130 and I-485

Jan 06 Requested for Addtional Evidence of I-485(The proof of income)

31 Jan 06 Received my response

8 Feb 06 Both Biometrics were done for I-765 and I-485

    15 Jun 06 EAD's approved

17 Jun 06 Received EAD and Initial Interview Letter for AOS(yeh!!)

I know, it took so long to get to the step of interview, I believe that my case was forgetten since RFE of I-485. What my husband and I did: made infopass appointments (for work permit), called customer service more than 9 times(total), kept checking on this forum what other people did and wrote a letter to our congressman. In my opinion, if your case hasn't been updated for a long period of time(more than 90 days), do like what I did: try to follow up for I-765 first, once USCIS open your file, they may realize that they should set up the appointment for you as well. I don't think they want to procastinate their work, but they are either just too busy to look up or they simply forgot about us.

Anyway, because of this website and because of your advice, we finally got the interview appointment. Thanks to all you guys!!!! The last step is our interview, hopefully no more obstacles and no more surprises. Good Luck everyone!!!!

  18. Just checked my case status and we're getting one too... oh well...

    Alison (F)

That sucks. The thing that I hate about it is the suspense in waiting for it to know what it is.

Hi, I would like to say that don't worry about that, just be patient. Here is a very good example. My husband and I filed all applications on December 22, 2005 and all NOAS' date are Dec. 28, 05. We were requested for an additional evidence as well for I485, seem like my husband couldn't support me in the first place.(because of self employed matter) Finally my husband sent his W-2 of year 2006 to them, and then they received it on Jan. 31, 2006. Actually, before we sent our response back, we received the biometrics' appointment for I-130 and I-485, and both biometrics were done on Feb. 8, 2006. Since that day we hadn't heard anything until June 15, 2006 by checking the update information online. My I765 case just got approved on that day(June 15, 2006) and on that message they said that the approval notice was mailed on that day. And you know, what I got when I came back home, I got EAD card and the interview letter for I-485. You probably don't know what my husband and I did, I did call the customer service for three times(for live people), my husband called them about 3 times(quite useless), I did infopass for 3 times(I got the interim work permit twice, and one officer emailed something to National Service for my I765 case, he said that it's too long), my husband and I did write one letter to our congressman for following up of the I765 case. Wow, it's been almost 6 months. We believed that we had been forgotten until we did something, what I'm trying to tell you is if you still haven't gotten anything and you have passed 90 days, just do something, my guess is once they open our file of any cases, they may realize that oh oh...."this couple has been forgotten", and then they might want to try to clean up their shelves. Actually, I didn't expect the interview letter for I-485, I just expected my EAD card, because I felt like it was too long for this approval. But wow, I also got my interview letter too, what a wonderful day!!!! But believe me I've been through a lot of stuff about this matter, this stuff always effected my days before. Just do something, keep trying, keep calling and keep following up. Now, I still don't know, who helped us!!! But it's OK!!! Good Luck!!! Sorry for my long post. Hang in there!!!

Just checked my case status and we're getting one too... oh well...

Oh, it's me again, I forgot to tell all you guys that, my status online for I-485 still hasn't been updated, the date is still on Feb 20, 2006.

  19. Hi, I think you should not worry about your case, as long as it's not RFE for sponsoring of I485, I think it should be fine. I've been waiting for my interview letter almost 180 days, I sent all applications last year, all of my noas' date are 28 December 05, and yesterday I just got approved for I765 after calling, making appointments, writing a letter to the congressman and etc. I think you should do like I did, if the process time is more than 90 days. My husband and I were wondering, my I765 got approved because of calling, writing a letter or having appointments with my local office. Still wondering.....Ha Ha Ha....just be patient....my husband and I used to be worried a lot about our case, but one day we realized that we shouldn't have worried about it, because living together is the best thing in the world, it's more important than waiting for something that you cannot predict......Good luck!!!!!

P.S. Maybe some of us already used our luck on our lucky marriage, so that's why our cases are dalayed. ;)

  20. Hi, Guys!!!

Today, I checked my case status online regarding my I-765 after four months of waiting, checking, calling, making appointments, calling a congressman, writing a letter to the congressman, wondering with my husband, losing sleep and etc., my case finally got approved. If anyone has problems like us, please don't give up, be persitant and patient. So now we have two more cases to push.(I-130 and I-485) It's been almost 180 days. Ha Ha Ha..........good luck!!!!

  21. Hi, Guys.....I still haven't gotten approved for EAD, it's been almost 180 days since I filed applications. My husband was requested for an additional evidence(He did send it), I understand that this stuff's delayed my process. Anyone has any experience like me? If you were requested for any additional evidence, how long would it be for the process of AOS interview?(from the day we sent back RFE) My husband and I've been waiting for the AOS interview mail from our local office but even the local office insisted that our case is still at MSC. Actually I did biometics for I-485 and I-130 on February 8, 2006. Since then I still haven't heard anything from them beside the old information update online.

We don't mind at all if we need to wait for another two months but we just want to know the estimateing time and what's going on about our case and we don't want to wait for another four or five months. Because I want to go back to school if I go back to school right now, I have to pay a lot for tuition fee. I want to move on and do something else.

Anyone can make us feel relieve, please help.
