  1. @Greenbaum After I had my PDOS, I went to the nearest DSWD to ask about it. At first, I was just planning to ask if there's need, if yes, what will I need to submit. But when I asked the woman who's assisting us, she immediately asked me who petitioned me and I answered that it was my Mom and she borrowed my passport to see my visa, then she gave me a stapled papers listing all the DSWD's requirements or it also tells the DSWD's rules (if I'm not mistaken, but something like that) and then she told me to photocopy them along with my visa plus she gave me something to fill up (DSWD form). I went outside to find a photocopying machine then went back. When we went back, I just handed it back and she signed it, highlighted some paragraph (it was regarding to all immigrant children or foreign something bla bla sorry hehehe), lastly, she put a stamp and the DSWD dry seal. I didn't pay for anything.

  2. If you go by the official terminology that posted in my first reply you will need a release form from DSWD. But "based on my experience and from the people I spoke to ( immigration officer in Manila, DSWD and Korean air) no need for DSWD clearance for a minor holding a dependent visa ( sponsored by parents or immigrating to USA )" from this mother from the link I posted, then no because you are an IR-2. Your sponsored by your parents with a dependent visa.

I'd recommend calling DSWD and ask them directly. Just to be sure.

Thank you again! I'll do that to make sure :)
  3. Yes you will need a travel clearance from DSWD. Here is the information.

A DSWD Travel Clearance is a document issued by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to a Filipino child age below 18 years of age, regardless of civil status, leaving the Philippines alone or with someone other than his or her parents. Philippine law requires minor children who are traveling abroad without their parents to obtain a DSWD Travel Clearance, which is a safeguard against the trafficking of Filipino children.

The unabridged information on applying for a DSWD Travel Clearance is found at the website of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) at www.dswd.gov.ph.

There was a discussion about this not to long ago. Here is the link. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/551636-k2traveling-alone-or-with-a-companion-other-than-her-parent/page-2

thank you so much for the response! :D
  4. It has been a while since I've submitted my DS-260. I have missed to take a look at my petitioner's (my mom) birth date. It is supposed to be June 23 but it was too late when I found out that I didn't change the current day to 23 which was 6 (because that was July 6).

Someone here said that I can say that to the pre-screener on the day of my interview. Any other advice? Please I'm very worried. (i'm already scheduled for an interview on Nov 13 in US Embassy Manila)

  5. Hi guys I just want to share my medical experience in St. Luke's Extension Clinic located along Bocobo Street.

    So here it goes...

    Day 1 (October 21, 2015)

I woke up an hour before my alarm which was supposed to be 3:30am.So I was very sleepy and nervous at the same time.

    I brought:

    1) Online registration (can be found on the SLEC website)

    2) Passport PLUS the photocopy of the page where it shows your information.

    3) NVC Appointment letter or the interview letter, whatever you can call it

    4) 2x2 photos (3 pcs or 4?) and put your name on the back of every photo

    5) Immunization record (depends on you. when you don't have it anymore, it's okay)

    6) For minors like me (though I'm with my guardian), you need an authorization letter

We arrived there at 5:30 and there was a line already. My number was 51 but when I heard the number calling inside, it was already on 20s so I thought that "oh that was fast". But when my guardian and I reached the counter, I found out thatthe documents I brought were incomplete. I needed an authorization letter from my mom saying that she's allowing my godmother to go with me to the clinic. So we had to go outside to find an internet cafe, good thing that there's already an internet cafe open just in front and my mom's online so she emailed it to me as soon as possible then I printed three copies. When we went back, we headed straight right to the counter because the clerk said that I could go straight to him when I'm complete. Before I reached him, he called someone to check and arrange my files so it would be fast when I reach him.

When everything went okay, he told me to go the 5th floor to pay and we paid 11, 515 (I'm 17 yo).

Here's the list of what I've done:(not in order)

    1) Xray

    2) Blood getting

    3) Vital signs

    4) Height and weight plus the eye test

    5) Immunization interview

    6) Physical exam (sorry but everyone needs to strip. YUP I WANTED TO CRY)

After all that, they said that we just need to go back tomorrow then we did a while ago.

    Day 2 (October 22,2015)

The lady said that I need to go back at 2pm yesterday but we arrived there at around 8am, thinking that I need to get my vaccine first then we'll just wait til 2pm... But but but, (wait! read my experience firstcthen you'll see hahaha)

Before I get inside, I gave my receipt (DON'T MISPLACE THIS, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT) to the guard and it's stamping time, I was very nervous because they said that if you get an IMMUNIZATION stamp, then you passed. If you get SPUTUM, then you need to cancel your interview I forgot why. There are anpther that I've read online, but I'm not surewith them anymore. So I went straight to the 2nd floor. I tried to be calm as much as possible hahaha still it was nerve-wracking and when my name was called, I went to the immunization room to get my shots. I've got no immunization record because it went missing a long time ago that's why I needed to take 6 shots (If I'm not mistaked, this depends on your age). Thank God I did not faint!!! Hahaha exaggerated, yes, but who cared. That was scary! lol. Then the nurse told us to eat first because he heard my godmother and I talking about not having our breakfast yet.

When we went back, we just stayed on the first floor. I forgot to tell you guys that the nurse said that we just need to wait for my name to be called on the counter (1st floor) when we get back.

I was called two or three times to the counter just to sign some papers and the last time I was called, she just confirmed something (like my basic infos) and when everything were just eight, she gave me the envelope and the CD (CD I think for the xray result), then she told me to bring the following items to my interview and wait for that time to come.

PS: DON'T DARE OPEN THEM HAHAHAHAHA

That is all. I hope I helped someone :)

  6. Did you check with the embassy if your guardian is allowed in with you? As a minor, I would think you're allowed your guardian with you.

Wear something you're comfortable in. Wearing something you normally don't wear may just make you feel uncomfortable and more nervous.

Don't bring electronics, it's not allowed inside.

You're gonna be fine at the interview, no need to be nervous.

hi thank you for answering :) If I'm not mistaken, only 15 yo and below are allowed to be chaperoned inside the embassy.

  7. Hi, you can't bring electronics inside for sure so those will be left with your guardian. Just get to the USEM early. Even you have an appointment they have queue (line) for each type of visa and each appointment time. It's totally understandable why you are nervous, but believe me, the interview is most of the time the easiest. :) Good luck!

hi sure I'll keep that in mind thank you! But do I still need to carry the whole printed application form or only just the confirmation page? Thank you!
  8. Hi guys, I'm an IR2 case. The nvc have scheduled my interview in US Embassy in Manila on Nov 13. I'll be taking my medical examination on monday so if there would be any adjustments on my medical, I would be able to attend to it as soon as possible.

Any tips or what should I bring to the interview and what not to bring? And what should I also wear? :D Thank you so much!!

I'm nervousssss/// I'm only 17 yo and I'll be entering the embassy all by myself though my guardian plans to go with me but she'll be just staying outside the embassy because they said that they won't be allowing outsiders, am I right?

    Thank you again!! :D

  9. My petitioner had sent my documents to nvc, if I'm not mistaken it was on July or June, then my petitioner got an email from nvc that she needs to fill another I-864W. It was a checklist. My mom (my petitioner) renewed it and then send it to nvc as soon as she's done with it.

August 21, they emailed my mom confirming that they have received my mom's mail.

And so I waited again for another 30 days, I've count the days and I didn't even include the weekends and the Labor day, and there's still no update. I messaged my mom and she answered me just to wait for it because maybe the nvc will just mail me the interview letter or something. I told her to call nvc but I don't know if she already called them. I'm feeling hopeless because on Oct 5, it will be the 30th day if I'm not mistaken.

What should we do? I'm turning 18 next year and I already want to study so much (I've stopped studying just for this)
