  1. You could also contact your Congressman's office and see if they can help you get some more information.

Infopass or get the ball rolling with your congressperson or Senator Mikulski's office is in order.

Just wanted to post an update for anyone who stumbles across this with a similar problem.

I wrote a letter to my Congressman (other forum members have posted sample letters they have sent so I won't). Be aware that you'll need to include a information release form. My congressman had one on his website that I filled in then printed off. Without an information release form, your congressman won't be able to access your information.

A few days later I checked online and it said "Case Was Reopened." I was never aware that my case had ever been closed. I called the helpline and got put through to a Tier 2 agent who informed me that in January my case had been closed because I missed a biometrics appointment. Firstly, I attended my biometrics appointment, secondly I had never been informed that by case was closed!!

So now my case is open and this morning I received an RFE for a new Medical, 2015 Income Tax, Lease or proof of residence and "other documents to show common life with your spouse".

    Awesome :(

  2. USCIS just kept telling us that it was at the local office, but guess what? It wasn't and never was. The case was sent to a field office in a state we didn't even live in. We didn't find out until we received an RFE.

Thanks for the advice!! What did you do when you found out your case was at the wrong field office?? I got a letter this morning from the Milwaukee field office responding to my service request. They said, "We're looking into your service request and we'll get back to you in 60 days." Yeah right.... But from the Milwaukee office?? Is my case in the wrong place? As far as I was aware, NBC is in Missouri. I just called and asked if my case was at the wrong field office but the response I got was. "Yeah, sometimes they move stuff around. Wait 60 days like the letter says."

    Awesome. :|

  3. Are there any AOS filers from April 2015 still waiting? I can't even find the April 2015 filers thread so I'm guessing not. Sometime in July I joined the NPIW club but since then I've heard nothing. When I call the number, they tell me that my field office is currently processing cases from August 2015 and they don't know what's going on with my case. Every 30 days I submit a service request to my field office for a case update and every month I get no response. I don't know what to do anymore. Does anyone have any advice?

For the record, my EAD and AP process is going fine for the most part, I'm currently renewing.

  4. Yes, my wife is waiting on her EAD/AP Combo Card since it was approved on 7/13. It has been roughly 30 days since approval and have the approved paperwork on hand but no card. She called USCIS on Monday and was told that it should be mailed soon but just a bunch of jibberish. We are focusing on our AOS interview in just a bit over 1 week at this point and turning away from the Combo Card for the most part. It is what it is!

Best of luck to you and hopefully you receive yours soon. :)

Good luck with your interview next week!! I'm in the NIPW club no so chance of an interview or GC approval any time soon. Last time I called I was told the "normal" processing time from approval to receiving EAD was 45 days. For me 45 days is tomorrow so I'll call again and get told a bunch of nonsense I expect.

  5. Yes, definitely call and have them connect you to a Tier 2 (even if they try to dissuade you). I'd like to think that calling is what jump started it all, but who really knows. LOL. :) Good luck!

Just spoke to Tier 2. He said my card never got sent for production. :( But apparently my case is currently open which means that someone is working on it, suggesting things are moving. He suggested not submitting a service request as this could delay whatever is currently happening, now that something is actually happening.....

Will call again next week if still no change. I'm skeptical

Side note: I've been entered into the NPIW club :dead:

  6. UPDATE:

Today I received a letter (dated 6/30) saying that my EAD and AP application has been approved. Also, the online case status thing has changed. Prior to today it said that 'Application has been received' for all 3. Now it says "Case was approved" for EAD and AP. For AOS it says "Post Office could not deliver".

Still no news on biometrics. I'm going to try calling them tomorrow to find out what's going on. Last time I spoke to them they said I had to wait 30 days but I'm hoping to argue that things have changed and I need new answers.

Is it normal to have my EAD and AP application approved before biometrics? My understanding is that biometrics has to happen first.

  7. So here’s my story. I don’t know what to do next.

I filed for AOS/EAD/AP on April 21st and received electronic notifications for all three on 4/24. I never received the NOA1s by mail so on 5/29 I called to ask where my NOA1s were and they said they would submit a service request, resend the NOAs and mark the originals as ‘lost in mail’.

On June 13th the NOAs finally arrived but the postmarks on the envelopes say Apr 27th which makes me think these are the original letters. Weird huh?

Since then I’ve heard nothing. I should probably have also received a biometrics appointment by now so I called the USCIS again today to ask what was going on and I was told that another service request would be created and that if I hadn’t heard anything in 30 days to call again.

Is it me or does the whole ‘create a service request and wait 30 days’ system do nothing at all?

I checked with the USPS to make sure our mailbox has my name on it and they verified it does so I’m confident the USPS isn’t holding or returning any of the mail. They even said they would send a note to the route delivery guy to make extra sure our mail was being delivered right.

Is there anything I can do to find out what’s going on with my case other than submitting these service requests?? It’s now been 10 weeks since I filed and I know that patience is the key with this stuff but I’m way outside the standard processing times for a biometrics appointment.
