  1. @Ash.1101 you are right about the requirement. My fiancee and I are childhood friends. We have been friends before I left Nigeria some years ago and we started dating two years after my divorce. I visited in 2015 when I lost my mother, though before then, we have been communicating and talking on the phone, but during my visiting we never spent enough time together because of my mother's burial, but during that time, we still manage to spent some time together. I am familiar with the Embassy in Nigeria, in fact my daughter told me the horror story during her interview, how people were being denied from  left and right. I will do my best to get this right.

  2. I understand that the K-1 requirement is to meet the beneficiary within a two years time frame. I met my fiancee in June 2015 when I went to Nigeria, but I didn't file the paper work because I was working on my daughter's immigration application. But now that my daughter is here with me I am considering on starting the K-1 petition. This year June will clock 2 years since I saw him last. Though we still communicate with each other and still want to get married, but I am scared of the time frame. My question is, can I still send in the application before June, and what if the application is pending when it clock the two years time frame. Please any advice is very appreciated.

  3. My daughter is currently 17 years old and will turn 18 years in July next year. I requested for an expedited processing due to some issue back in Nigeria, it was approved and forwarded to the Embassy on the 21st of last month. I received an email this morning that her interview date has been scheduled for the 9th of February 2017. However, I have some uncleared question I need help with.

My first question is, I submitted a copy of my passport information page to the NVC, do I send my passport to my daughter since the embassy required original documents or do I send my citizenship certificate to her? Though I never submitted the copy of my citizenship certificate to the NVC, but the copy of my passport page

My second question is, are there any other fees I am required to pay during my daughter interview, apart from the AOS and the visa application fees paid already. I am a little bit confused in-regards to the visa application fees on the packet 4. It stated that "Applicants for petition-based visas (IR1, CR1, etc) who have been receiving correspondence from the National Visa Center have likely already paid their visa fees. Other fees are as follows:  Diversity Visa Fee (non-refundable): $330  Immigrant Visa Fee (for all applicants except for DV applicants): $325" So am I paying the Diversity Visa Fee or any other fees?

My third question is, I filled out the DS-260 for my daughter after paying the AOS and Visa application fees and I have the printed out. But according to the packet 4, it also stated that the DS-260 should be printed out and not signed. Is another DS-260 need to be filled out or should I just send the already filled and printed DS-260 with other required documents to my daughter?.

Please any advice on these issue will be very appreciated. Thank you.

  4. Please I am a little confused about the required tax returns. How many years of tax returns is required by the NVC? I am a veteran, and I was discharged from the military in August of 2014, I was on unemployment for six month while searching for a job . I filed my 2014 tax return on Feb and at the same got a temporary job with the IRS the same month and year. I worked with the IRS for four months in 2014 and was unemployed again for another six months, before I finally got a much more better job in December 2014. I filed my 2014 tax return and filed my 2015 tax return. Though, all these job I had were above poverty level. But my question is, do I send in the 2015 tax or to send in the three tax returns? Please any advice is appreciated.

  5. My daughter was not declared during my petition because my parents and my sister were taking care of my daughter and they won't let her immigrate with me (especially my parents}. Now both my parent are deceased and I can't leave her there anymore. I have went home and I have seen her, she was very happy to see me. According to her she love her school and her friends, but I can't leave her there any more. Yes that's the reason the attorney said I will be required for a DNA test.

  6. Thank you guys. Her children's are 17, 16, 7 and 4 years old, which means the 16 and 17 will be out of ages by the time she will be approved. Thank you guys for this information because I was actually thinking of the process in a different ways.

On the case for my daughter, I hope to send her petition in by next week. But I have a question, do they ask for a DNA test? I was told by an attorney that I will be required for one. I am trying to gathered as much information I can get before sending everything in for a smooth approval.

  7. I am in the process of sending in my paperwork, but I have a burning question. When I came back from Nigeria, I could not locate my departure boarding pass except my return boarding pass. But I have my itinerary with my ticket receipt that shows my departure date. Will that be a proof enough? Though I also the arrival and departure stamp on my passport. Do I need to be concern? Any advice is welcome. Thank you.
