  1. Hi All,

There's a lot of talk out there about the EAD card after your K-1 visa. Everyone wants to work and travel, so they want to get it as quickly as possible. I succesfully had mine expedited so thought I'd share my experience.

December 18th, 2015: Entered USA on K-1 Visa

    Decemberer 21st, 2015: Married

    December 29th, 2015: I-485, I-131, I-765 Received

    January 25th, 2016: Biometrics

February 5th, 2016: Requested expedited I-131 through my Congressman's office

February 8th, 2016: USCIS Status updated to "Card in Production"

    February 12th, 2016: Card Received!

Honestly, it was the easiest thing I've done during this process. I called the congressman's office, said that I had a bona fide business trip planned to Canada in February and they approved both the I-765 AND I-131.

Feel free to post any questions and good luck!

  2. Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a specific thread related to Vancouver cases? I assume the process is the same for Montreal, but not certain. This is all great advice and would like to know if things work the same way in Vancouver.

    Thanks,

  3. Could someone please confirm that after you receive your approval from USCIS and the application is sent to the NVC, that the next person to contact you is the US Embassy/Consulate and that they mail a package to your foreign beneficiary's address?

Also, does anyone have any info on work authorization once they've married on the K-1? How long does it take to obtain?

    Thanks so much!

  4. Hey everyone,

Ok, so I have a very basic question. I received NOA2 last week, so I know its way too early to start chasing up my case and calling NVC. I'm just wondering, if hypothetically I never called NVC and just let things happen without following up at each stage, who would I hear from next? NVC or my local consulate? Is the next communication in the process just receiving packet 3 from my local consulate? And lastly, if I don't call NVC to find out my case #, etc...do I find that out from the consulate or does NVC send a letter listing that info?

Just a little confused on what happens next and want to know what documents I am waiting on at this point!

    Thanks!

    Hi Sarah,

Actually, I have the exact same question as we are at the same point in the process. Wondering if I'll hear from the US Consulate in Vancouver or the NVC next?

    Thanks,

    Kaan

  5. Hi All,

    Thought I'd chime in here.

We sent in our 1-129F to USCIS on July 5th. It was received by USCIS on July 15th and approved on August 3rd by the California Service Centre. We received an official notice of approval on August 8th letting us know it was approved and being sent to the NVC in New Hampshire. We haven't heard anything yet from the NVC but are shocked at how quickly it was approved and passed on. I'm now waiting to be contacted by the US Consulate in Vancouver as I believe next step is for them to send me a package. Any idea how long the rest of this should take?

    Best of luck!
