Thanks so much- I will definitely give you the 411 when I finish it. they said to me the oath would be in the afternoon if it's successful.
ac000 - Best of luck and please share your experience. I am scheduled for Oct 29th at the Fairfax office. Already feeling queasy about it!!
Congratulations huckerman
Can somebody update oath ceremony done today ???????????????????????My wife is American now ????????????????????✈️✈️✈️✈️

I've got my interview on Tuesday..... absolutely and utterly petrified. ?
-
It's any government issued ID I believe. So if you have a passport from your native country you'd be able to use that. I don't have a drivers license from the US at all, so it cannot be the only thing required
hi guys , i lost my drivers license and i dont have time to get a new one. is it needed for the oath ceremony? and what do i need to bring with me . thank you so much

Congratulations! How relieved you must feel!
What is the difference between an original tax return and a photocopy- I've had to write 'photocopy' on the ones I took copies of because the originals looked exactly the same!
I've done so much immigration paperwork I no longer really know which ones are the actual originals! ???
Here is a recap of my interview experience last September 29. Interview time was at 12:45 pm but me and my wife decided to go early so we can still relax a bit and maybe do some light reviewing. Left the house at 10:30am and arrived at the Los Angeles Mall by 11am. Parking was a breeze and it is in front of the USCIS building so it's very convenient. We stayed there for a bit and was even surprised to see a friend who apparently did his citizenship interview as well (He passed it by the way, so congrats!). He told me that the crowd on the 8th floor wasn't bad and there were only a few people during the time of his interview. He told us also about his experience and how the officer he had didn't smile at all till after the interview. All this chit chat just made me really anxious and nervous about my interview. About 12 noon, me and my wife decided to go and fall in line. We passed through security and just as we were going to the elevators, my wife decided to just stay downstairs by the snack bar. Apart from being hungry, she feared that the immigration officer will call her in too (Lol). Anyway, so I went up by myself and was greeted by a nice security guy. He asked for my papers and he gave it to the window, told me to have a seat and wait for my name to be called.
The waiting room wasn't that packed and I guess there were about 10-15 people in there. All were busy reviewing the booklet. The tv was turned on and quite frankly, it was a bit too loud. My interview schedule passed and I was slowly becoming more anxious and nervous. 1:30pm came and still my name wasn't called yet. I decided to stand up, stretch and walk around a bit. I asked the security where the water fountain was and went there to have a little sip since my mouth is starting to dry up. Going back, I saw 2 different couples with different results, I guess. One was crying and the other was laughing. That actually added up to my anxiety. 2pm came and I was finally called by a middle-aged Latina. My heartbeat went to overdrive and I know I was shaking. She greeted me with a smile though, which made me calm down quite a bit. She asked me to follow her and when we got to her office, she instructed me to put my stuff on the desk and remain standing so we can do the swear in. After that, she told me to have a seat and we began with the 6 questions. We breezed through all 6 and she said we'll move on to the reading and writing part. In all honesty, I only remember 1 question from that which is "Who is the Vice-President?". Moving on, when I finished the reading and writing part, she said that everything is perfect and we just had to check the paperwork that I submitted. She went through the application form, reading everything back to me till the "Yes or No" part. After that, she had me sign the application and she moved to the documents that I submitted. She asked if I brought the original copies of my income taxes. I handed over the files which dated back to 2011 but she only wanted to check the last couple of years. With that, she then said, "Congratulations, you passed everything and you can relax now". She printed some stuff and told me to double check all the information as that would be on my certificate. I honestly didn't pay much attention to that and just signed it coz I was still overwhelmed with all that's happening (haha). She then asked for my green card and passport and told me to wait back for her coz she will just photocopy it. Upon returning, she printed the approval notice and handed it over to me, along with 2 texts (The Declaration of Independence and The Citizens Almanac). She also said that hopefully I could be included on the upcoming oath ceremony which is on the 14th. I thanked her and she did the same, which is odd but she told me that I am one of the easiest interviews that she did for day and added that she always likes it when she sees that applicants are prepared with all the documents because it makes their work easier. With that, she escorted me to the exit and said I hope to see you on the oath ceremony. Going down the building, I couldn't help but smile. When I saw my wife downstairs, she immediately knew that I passed. We kissed and went our way out of the building. We had a little celebration afterwards, dinner and all.
Anyway, I think this is becoming a novel so I better stop now. (Lol) I hope that by sharing this experience, I would be able to help someone get over their fears and stuff. Everything will go well as long as you are prepared. By the way, I also received a text/email notice the following day (September 30) that my case was updated. Checking online, it said that the oath ceremony notice was mailed. Yesterday, Monday, (October 5) I received the letter and confirmed that my oath will be on October 14 at 8am. To the good moderator, KASH2011, finally you can update my status. Thanks again guys and I'll try to post my oath experience after (shorter for sure).

Hi Suzy,
I was placed in line in September- but I think possibly because I'm coming from Scotland! in response to your other statements about moving here- nooo don't do it! Hehe. I hope he gets scheduled really soon! x
Take a look at the graph. Not one person was put "In Line" during the month of September. Not one.
Something is up.

hello.... anybody from fairfax ??? how long does it take from interview to oath tnx DEARS
-
My interview is scheduled for 10/20/2015 at 8am. All being successful the oath with be on the same day. would someone be able to update me on the timeline?
Thank you
-
if your fingerprinting was done august 5 , you dont need to worry , your case is not being delayed and nothing to be sad about because thats a normal length of procedure , you can wait 2 to 3 months to get your interview date. so just relax and dont be impatience or worry too much ...
Thank you, I totally know you're right. I'm mainly worried about qualifying under 319(b) as it's quite a sketchy area with not too much information available as my partner isn't in the military- I've used the fact he works for an American corporation engaged in foreign commerce with the U.S. I chose to not use a lawyer because of the cost, but I can't help but worry it's going to fail at this part, pre-interview. You're right though, I need to just get over it as its out of my hands!
-
Congratulations to everyone who has been through interviews and oaths etc! Genuinely made up for you all.
My own case isn't going so well. I had my fingerprints on August 5th in London as part of a 319(b) application. They had to do it manually as the software for doing it electronically was being updated. The last I heard from the IO in Washington was 8/30 was that my application had finished at NBC and was en route to him to do checks. I've heard nothing since. I know it's only been 2 weeks but he is so fast at emailing back - I am really worried about the lag now. I know patience is required but it's a virtue I don't possess!
I have to book flights back for the interview and I just want to know when I'm going already
-
Hey Huckerman26,
I believe you can call that division of the FBI to check the status of your fingerprint check.
This is the number 304-625-2000 or 304-625-5590.
No even in line for interview I call uscis and they say they still waiting in FBI background check I don't had no criminal Record I don't know why they talking so long
-
I thought I would post my experience/ update so far on the 319(b) case. I made my biometrics appointment with the London embassy as soon as I got my I797C. Once I had the appointment made, I contacted the IO at Washington field office and he let the NBC know. A day before I recieved a notification for more evidence (ie the FBI fingerprint cards since I am out of the U.S. right now).
I flew to London this morning and was told to stand outside the statue pavilion (inside embassy grounds) and wait for the USCIS officer to escort me into the building.
The officer wasn't quite there when I got there and the embassy security were losing their mind because they'd never heard of someone coming out to meet the applicant outside, so they wanted to put me back outside. luckily he came down and explained that he was late because they've updated the soft wear on the biometric systems and they weren't working. Eek!
We did the fingerprints manually on the FD258 FBI cards and I went and posted them myself. It's probably going to add a good bit of time onto my case but I'm just super happy I still got to do it!
The waiting commences! The washington field officer said he would email me as soon as the NBC are finished adjudicating the case and send it over to him and then he will email to see when a convenient time for me to come across for interview. They seem very nice there!
Still just not getting my hopes up and keeping my fingers crossed that all is ok with my application.
Good luck to everyone with interviews coming up- very exciting!
-
I know right?!?! That's what I thought too...
congratulations xxjbloxx!!
:)
-
I totally agree that it gets disheartening when you check that myUSCIS page for an update, each day to find nothing much going on.
Because I've filed under a different category, I recieved an email a couple of weeks back from an IO directly at one of the field offices. He basically states that the entire process of checking should take between 6-12 weeks. I read about the three main background checks they can do- and because those are external it's really easy for it to get into a little backlog in any one of those checks- it doesn't mean anything is wrong when this happens.
I'm getting myself all bent out of shape because I filed a month ago! : )
I was thinking about it, and just need to relax- when it happens it happens and there's nothing you can really really do to speed it up. Wishing everyone a great day and good luck when your time comes!! It will come!
-
Ya, same here. I got my letter background a couple weeks ago, and done my finger prints yesterday, the online status is the same since day 1 when I received the letter.
How do you guys get the e-notification?
Thanks myselfdotcom, I really appreciate your reply. I'm not sure why I place so much importance on the online status when everywhere you read says that it's usually late. I'm just totally confused about the 'we recieved your case yesterday' when actually it was recieved at the end of June and I've already been issued the I-797C. ?
Have you set up an account and set your e-alerts on?
-
Hello,
Wondering if anyone can conform if they received the same online update...
My case was recieved by USCIS on 24th June, I got a receipt on 1st July and a receipt notice on the 9th July. My case status hasn't updated until today and it reads:
On July 17, 2015, we received your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number NBCxxxx, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by August 16, 2015, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to
Can anyone else confirm that's the fist message they recieved? I'm just wondering why the large date gap between the 1st to the 17th. and panicking.... slightly...

Kash2011, could you please add me to your list?
Green card: 08/30/2014
N400 application received: 06/25/2015
NOA email: 07/01/2015
sent to VSC
Field office : Washington DC
319(b) application
-
Thank you so much, they told me I can only contact them once I receive my fingerprint letter.
-
That's really kind of you for taking the time to explain that all out, thank you.
So just to clarify, the returned app could be from the lock box or service centre - but an actual denial would only come from the field office?
I have filed under section 319(b) and it's a difficult one as I am currently in the UK - so I fly over for the interview. It would be so much easier if at some point before that they would look at the application and say 'ok that company is or isn't eligible etc' - it's v tricky!
Thank you again so very much- much appreciated!
-
Hi everyone,
I have a general question on the n400 process. I am wondering at which stages checks are made on your application for eligibility, and at which points throughout the process can you possibly be denied at?
For example, I filed at the Vermont Sevice Center, I received an email that my case had been accepted and forwarded to National Benefits Center.
Did the VSC initially look at the facts of my application, accept it and send it to NBC? or is this a straight off sent away.
Do the NBC look at the facts of the case and on that basis forward to the Field Office? can the NBC approve or deny applications at this stage alone?
I'm just curious as to which points are crucial "passing" points in the naturalisation timeline.
Many thanks!

FAIRFAX (WASHINGTON DC FIELD OFFICE) interview experience today:
Arrived at 7am for my 8am appointment. There was about 4 others in the queue. You pass security on the ground floor and then take the elevator to the 2nd floor where the receptionist takes your paperwork and puts it in the tray. I was called in at 8:40 - the IO phoned down at 8:20 to say he was running late (I clearly panicked further and debating another 10 times whether to leave or not). He explained it was a computer problem that meant he wasn't able to see my details but it was now fixed.
As soon as I got in he put me under oath and asked me the 6 questions (I can only remember 5 as it was a blur)
How many Justices of Supreme Court?
One branch of government?
How long is senator elected for?
Who serves if the Vice President or President cannot?
Name one branch of government?
After this he asked me to read a sentence ("Columbus Day is a national holiday") then write a sentence ("Columbus Day is in October"). After this, he went through my application (quickly), joked how my life was boring since I answered no to all the questions (drunkard etc).
He didn't ask for any paperwork until I prompted him because I wanted that part over (then nearly shot myself in the foot- why would I do that). He just took current payslips and my returning flight itinerary (required for 319 (b) applications)
We literally casually chatted throughout the whole thing, in amongst the more serious questions but it was not a scary vibe like I made out in my head. Everyone I came across in that office was really lovely.
About 10 minutes after walking in the door of his office, he stamped 'approved' and printed my oath ceremony slip for this afternoon.
I'm went back at 1:30pm - back to the same 2nd floor reception and gave over my green card. By 2:30 I have my naturalisation certificate in hand am out of there.
The long, expensive journey is over for me now, if someone could redden my timeline! Thank you!
