I got the second notice of action a while back. My fiance is to contact the Manila embassy next monday, 3-28, to get a date for her interview and she must go get her medical exams. She has the money for all that, so now it's wait some more. it's been 3 months now, not too bad (so far). I'm the US petitioner
-
when the beneficiary is called into the embassy for interview, all will be asked/explained at that point. The issue may well not come up until you are married and applying for their green card to be permanent resident.
-
will do, thanks
-
nice to know it's not taxable, but is it usable for the income requirement for getting my fiance her visa and green card?
-
I get about 20k per year from a VA disability and SS retirement. the VA part is new as of a few months ago, so I dunno if it's taxable next year? Anyway, thanks for your replies. I did finally get the initial NOA of ICIS sending the petition to the dept fo state.
-
Very few people will TOUCH being co sponsor, cause they could be on the hook for about 10k per year, for 10 years. . More if there's medical problems. Depending upon where the embassy is, they may not even bother you about the income, or so I"ve heard. Dunno why they would care, since we just LET a million illegals into the US every year.

ok, I called them yesterday, they called back today, said that on Feb 11, they DID accept my case and DID cash my check, gave me a receipt number and a phone number to dept of state in Portsmouth. So my bank must be messed up about the check's not having been cashed. I'll check into that part.
-
the immigration service doesn't even have a published phone number! What does THAT tell you and hth do they get away with that?
-
i have received nothing more than the certified receipt, signed, from the post office.
-
not specifically, from ICE. I did get the signed certified receipt from the post office. that's all, tho. So who do I call, the lockbox people in texas, ICe in DC, my local immigration office?
sorry, but the second thread didn't show up when I looked for it. Probably cause you deleted it so quickly?
if you don't want to help, ok, I"ll find another forum. Just let me know, ok?
-
what should I do now? thanks!
-
and I have received nothing else. also, they have not yet cashed my check! what do I do? thanks
-
true, but I have never bothered to set up the online stuff. I rarely use that bank, other than to have my VA check sent there, and have never used a check from that account for anything but this visa application. I go by there daily, so I can easily pop in and have them check on the check's status. thanks.
-
federal holiday today, banks not open, but I will check on the check tomorrow. thanks. I sent the application by certified mail and got the signed receipt. I have always used this other mail, but it's a dropbox, so for the app, I used a "friends" addy, but then he messed me over about something and I had to change the addy. I got acknowledgement (by mail) that the addy with ICE had been changed, so I should be ok there, thanks!

I have received nothing. i'll have to check on the check. I hadn't thought of that. thanks.
-
should i be raising hell about it yet? thanks.
I see no edit button? I should add that the only thing I have heard is from the lockbox in TX, acknowledging my phone call changing my address. thanks.
-
I don't see an "edit" button here? Anyway, if they'll allow 100k of assets instead of 20k per year of income (they say 5x as much assets are require as income) , they should allow 12k of assets (includes cash, cash value of property) instead of the $2500 of annual income that you are 'short".
-
you're allowed to use assets insteadof income, it says so on the immigration website, but it's a LOT of assets, as in 100k cash value.
-
-
the minimum income to let you sponsor an immigrant to the USA about 20k per year, Google is your friend.
-
thanks. the letter of intent is the one posted on this site, under "guides" for k1
-
and like i said, the sample letter has a placeholder wording, saying 'intended place of filing', or something like that.
-
thanks, guys.
I think, however that they also want one from my Filipina. the sample is worded in both ways.
-
I am filling out the "letter of intent", for my Filipina's k1 visa and it asks for the addy of my "filing location". is that going to be OKC, then? thanks for your replies!
i'ts been 7 weeks since I got certified signature at TX lockbox (Merged)

Thank you. Knowing Bureaucracies as I do, however, I will not be all that happy until she's here. :-) Even then, we still have another year to wait for her daughter to learn enough English to come here and be ok at school here. She'll be with her grandma till then. it will be a big enough hurdle for her, leaving behind all she knows, being Asian in US, being the "new kid", without the additional problem of not speaking English. So we decided to wait until my fiance has her RN license and an income, and our daughter has learned a lot more English. Thanks again, this place is a great resource
