My husband moved here on the K1 visa back in 2012 and has been a permanent resident for years now. When can PRs file for citizenship? How much is it? What do we do to start the process?

That is awesome news! Thanks so much!!!

Yes sorry, the word months must have fallen out somehow lol
Haha no worries! Thanks for the info!!
Seems 6 months is the norm where I am, YMMV.
Thanks!!

My office, anchorage, shows that they are working on cases sent in in January but I sent my papers in in July and have my interview on Tuesday so the info online isn't always accurate. Now I still don't know how long before my oath but they seem fairly fast up here..
Thank you!!

Sorry, I meant April 2013, not 2012. Oops!! Yes, he got his condition of marriage removed and received his new GC.
The time it takes to become a citizen is much depending on where you live and the workload at that office and if there is anything making the background check drag out. It can be any where from 3 to who knows.
When you say "3 to who knows", do you mean 3 months?

My husband moved here from Scotland in February 2012. We got married in March 2012 and he got his GC in April 2012. So that means he can apply for citizxen ship April 2016, right? Also, he works for a company that has offices all over the world. He and I have been discussing him transferring to the Glasgow office after he becomes a citizen. We most likely won't live there the rest of our lives and would eventually return to the US. Is that allowed once he's a citizen?
How long does it take to become a citizen after applying?
Thanks in advance!

So the first $95,000 isnt touched by the US? Im confused...

Wow. We were not aware of that. Thank you so much.

He says me and our son should have no problem moving there. Are you saying different? Also, if we wait for his citizenship, would he still have to pay US income tax?
-
Thank you! I misspoke though. It's not his AOS, is the lifting of conditions that we are waiting for. He has travel authorization.

My husband moved here under the k1 visa over three years ago. He recently started a job at a company that works here and all over the world, including the UK (he is from Scotland). Nothing against the U.S., but the UK has better schools for our children and we ultimately feel that it would be a better place to raise a family. If we were to move before he gets citizenship here in the U.S., what would we have to do if we decided to come back to the U.S.at a later time?

I'll have to ask my husband if he did but I don't think so. Would it be processed in time if we apply now?

My husband (from Scotland) is waiting for his AOS from January/February. We are traveling to Scotland for Christmas this year. I doubt the aos will be approved by then. Can he travel?
