  1. Hello everyone,

Just wanted to let you know I received my Packet 4 today.

Looks like I had accidentally selected the Ottawa consulate instead of Montreal. So I might even have received it earlier than today had I not needed to resubmit my DS-160.

Anyways, the great news is I can make my Medical on Monday.

    Thanks for all the help!

  2. Caronadlar, thank you so much for the info. I didn't mean to piggyback on this thread but I read it before leaving work for the day and panicked. Each journey is so different and it's hard to really know when something's wrong.

I hear you! This is not an easy process and no matter how much research I do I find I am double guessing myself all the time!

  3. Oh man, now I'm having a panic attack.

My medical is next week and my interview is August 24. When I check the CEAC site for my status, I'm not getting this READY thing you all are getting. Mine still says NO STATUS. Is this a problem??

I'm nearly at the end of my rope with all this. :(

From the info in your signature I see that you received your Packet 4, in that case, I would not be worried if I were you. I noticed CEAC was not always updated immediately. I called the NVC and they told me that my materials were shipped off to MTL on July 20, but CEAC continued to say they were at the NVC until July 24.

    according to this website : http://blogs.usembassy.gov/malaysia/check-the-status-of-your-visa-online-ceac-status-check/ :

    "No Status:

If you have submitted your online nonimmigrant visa application (DS-160), it has not yet been processed into the visa system. At some locations, your application will remain in this status until you appear for an interview or until your application is ready for review. Please see the embassy or consulate’s website for information on the next steps required for visa processing. "

  4. That's just the general response. If they're ignoring your email for some reason, try using this site and ask about your packet 3: http://canada.usembassy.gov/contact/public-inquiry-form.html

If they have not logged your packet 3 into the system then they will simply look at your email subject, type in the case number and if it's not logged they'll ignore the email with no follow up. As another said, they recieved their packet 4 email back within 24 hours, we received ours within 7 hours.

What you should receive should look something like this.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THIS EMAIL, YOU DO NOT HAVE THE CORRECT ONE. DO NOT TRY TO COPY AND REPLACE INFO ON THIS E-MAIL BECAUSE THEY WILL KNOW IF THEY'VE ACTUALLY SENT IT TO YOU OR NOT.

This is really all the help I can give. -That- above is your Packet 4 email. If you recieve anything else, it's not the email you're looking for. I highly recommend waiting a few more days for them to process it. It took them 9 days to process our case after recieving it from the NVC (Sent June 30th recieved by MTL July 7th), your case was only recieved 8 days ago. Make sure you have your dates right, it takes three days to a week to recieve it from the NVC, according to your own time frame that means Montreal wouldn't even have recieved it until the 24th which is the day you sent in Packet 3. They most likely will not log it until August 3rd (since the 1st and the 2nd are a monday). Receiving does not mean logged.

Again, if you're unsure if it's even logged then wait for the snail mail letter or contact them here: http://canada.usembassy.gov/contact/public-inquiry-form.html

I reccomend contacting them over waiting, we recieved our letters from the consulate today, 12 days after packet 3 was logged.

Thank you for showing me a copy! No worries, I'm not yet to the point where I'd commit fraud haha. I am just happy to hear it took a while for you to get your letters after sending your packet 3 - lots of people it only too a few hours. So good to know it is not the same for everyone.

I guess I just need to be patient (Im sure you can relate how eager I am to have this all done).

I sent a message to the inquiry site yesterday, hope I hear from them sooner than later.

    Again, thanks!

  5. You should've gotten your P4 by now. Try resending in P3. I got mine within 24 hours of each other.

I did my medical in the same office. When I got there I totally forgot my printout, and they 100% require it to even register you. I was fortunate enough that she let me email it to her on spot. I only brought my interview confirmation which wasn't good enough, they require seeing P4 to show you had permission for both.

Good to know! Hopefully I can manage to get P4 in time.

I followed your advice and tried re sending P3 (the CEAC says it is "READY"), but when I sent the P3 I got the same generic response I received last time. Did you ever receive the following response, or did you get an email saying it was "recorded" in the file:

Thank you for your message to the

    Immigrant Visa (IV) unit

  6. Who is doing your medical?

At my medical, I was asked to provide my interview date, but not anything specifically from packet 4. If you have something confirming your interview date that might be ok. Tho, I did provide my MTL # so who knows what they can see on their end.

    Oh really ?! Thanks!

It is Doctor Galperin (sc) at the Medisys Travel Health Clinic on 500 Sherbrooke in MTL.

    Where did you go?

It is funny, some people told me their packet 4 documents did not have their name or anything on them (just a very generic emails with links) and other people seem to have very specific documents with all their information on it.

  7. Oh yeah, had you gotten packet 4 you would have been able to set everything up yourself. It links you to the online appointment set up and then a list of the people certified for medical. I think it took my fiance maybe 30 minutes or so to set up his visa appointment and medical.

On CEAC it says something along the lines of "Status Updated Date: 23-Jul-2015" FOR ME, again might be different for you, I started as being "IN TRANSIT" as it traveled from the NVC to MTL. When it arrived at MTL that changed to READY and the Status Updated Date changed to July 7th. We assumed that meant that it was the date that it was logged, but it was most likely just the date that they recieved it. Later when I checked on July 16th (I checked EVERY single day) I noticed that the Status Updated Date changed to July 16th, which then I figured that was the logging date. Up until I resent packet 3, that date stayed the same until they sent us Packet 4. When they sent us Packet 4 the date changed to July 23rd.

Now you can't see how many times the dates have changed, you kind of had to of checked it every day to notice if the dates changed. What ever the first date it ever showed when it got marked as ready was most likely the date they recieved it, I'd say either contact them to find out if they have your packet or wait a few more days and see if the status updated date changes. If it does change in the next few days that most likely means they've logged it.

The best way to find out if they recieved their packet 3 is for you to contact them. Really, unless you're stalking them EVERYDAY which is what i do, and look at recent experiences of others (there was another girl who did the same as me and sent packet 3 to early, which is what prompted me to resend). You can keep trying to use your best judgement but you really don't wanna mess the process up!

WOW! thanks so much. That helps a lot. It was strange because on the IN TRANSIT status, it said that my interview was already scheduled. But it appears to only be a glitch from what other other are saying.

I sent them emails and inquires to find out if it has been received and logged. Hopefully they get back to me soon.

Good to know I will have to resend everything.

    Thanks again!

  8. Since I can't edit my post:

It's most likely that they ignored your packet 3 email. It took 9 days for them to log our file into the system. CEAC showed READY July 7th, but it wasn't until it updated later to July 16th that they actually logged it. Again, we sent our packet 3 before they logged it, so they ignored the email. You most likely sent it too soon. Check to see if CEAC has a new status update date, if it doesn't, it's not logged, if it does then resend packet 3. You should get an email back within 24 hours.

Also did you schedule your actual visa interview? Pretty confident you need to bring confirmation of that as well to medical.

Yes, I did book the interview. A lady I spoke to on the phone (at some Visa help center in the US) created the account for booking appointments for me, and then told us to pay the fee and book our appointment. So I think she did not know the correct process herself. I was calling to find out if the documents had been received in MTL. haha anyways, it added lots of confusion.

I guess I won't be surprised if they cancel my interview. But my main concern right now is trying to get my medical done. I was wondering if any body else had gone without their Packet 4.

If you dont mind me asking: what "message" appeared on July 16 when you were finally able to submit your packet 3 documents. OR did you keep trying to send it every couple of days once it said "Ready"?

Thanks for all the help!!! really appreciated.

Try CEAC to see if they have you on record.

I gotta be honest, even though I did my packet 3 two months ago, I don't remember clearly. All the things happening got me super overwhelmed :(

I hear you haha!! Thank you for the help!!!

  9. I brought my packet 4 email printout. I am not sure why you booked the medical without receiving packet 4 since I thought that's what you are suppose to do (No?).

For me, I replied the packet 3 list via email on May 11 and got back from them on May 13, advising me to register for interview as well as getting medical done...

Thanks. Well I booked the medical on a specific date knowing I could attend. It is very very difficult for me to get days off work (even if I book in advance there is no guarantee), and I knew that there was no chances of me having issues on that date - which is why I booked it in advance. I was hoping I would of received my packet 4 before the appointment.

If you dont mind me asking; how did you find out your materials were received in MTL? I know they were sent by the NVC, but I cannot find a number to ask if the materials were all received in MTL.

    Thanks for the help!

  10. Hello,

I was reading a comments about needing a letter from the Packet 4 for your medical appointment, and I was wondering if anyone could help me.

I booked my medical expecting to have received my packet 4 via email by now, but I have not, and my appointment is next week. (I know, bad call).

Do anyone know exactly what from the Packet 4 you need to provide when you attend the medical appointment.

Is the "letter/packet" a generic letter, or does it have information specific to your file that the doctor needs to see? I found these online an was wondering if I printed the medical page off these if it was enough http://travel.state.... - Montreal.pdf ORhttp://photos.state....Packet4-MTL.pdf

Thank you in advance for all the help!

    Caroline

  11. IS IT POSSIBLE TO APPLY FOR ADVANCED PAROLE BEFORE YOU ARE MARRIED ? - TO GET THE PROCESS GOING?

My fiance and I booked a cruise for December to go to Jamaica, Grand Caymen, and Cozumel. We now realized that this is risky seeing as I am not supposed to leave the country.

We are planning a wedding in November, but I fear that we will not have enough time to file for and receive Advanced Parole, let alone the adjustment of status, before the trip.

    I found this online :

Although the K-1 visa is single entry, its holder can take advantage of a concept called “automatic revalidation.” That means that you can take a short trip – of up to 30 days -- to either Canada or Mexico, without having to give up your I-94 when you leave.

This possibility comes from the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, at 22 C.F.R. Section 41.112.

I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Advances Parole before getting married and got approved, or if anyone has any information to share. THANKS FOR THE HELP!
