  1. OK - first of all - can you please show us the EXACT wording on your P4 letter? It's very confusing wording, I know. But it is very unusual for them to ask for Tax Info for this year since it's not due until April.

    You may not have to file your 2015 taxes yet - so please show us what the letter says.

    If you are the USC, then you must file "Married". Since your spouse was not with you in 2015, the EASIEST way to file is to file "Married, Filing Separately (MFS). After your spouse gets to the US and gets a SSN, then you can amend your tax return to "Married, Filing Jointly" (MFJ).

    This is not your only option, but if you are required to file, it's the fastest.

    I'm actually betting you don't have to file yet....

    Hi Sukie this is what NVC says" Bring updated Federal income tax information to the interview. If a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) and provided the NVC with proof of an IRS Federal income tax extension in lieu of a Federal income tax return, bring the sponsor's most recent Federal income tax return to the visa interview.
