  1. Hello everyone. I am going to send the packet to NVC in couple of hours. My question is,do my documents enough?

    I have:

    1.)Affidavit of support

    2 )IRD transcript.

    Supporting documents are:

    1.) My birth certificate

    2.) My marriage certificate

3.) My passport and hubby to as sponsor

Please, I need your input. So there will be no delay. Thank you!!!

  2. Hi everyone. I need help regarding our case. I hope somebody can explain or advice me what to do.

Last June 2015, I petitioned my mother. The Philippine government changed her name so she had to get a passport in order for NVC to change her name. It took her over a year to get her passport though.

My problem is, last year, I guess it was October when I got the NOA2, and I paid the fees online. All I needed to do is to submit our affidavit of support and her passport (unavailable that time). So, In first week of May, I sent a letter to the NVC, saying that my mother's documents are not yet ready.

My question is, now that my mother has her passport? Can I still send those documents to NVC despite of being almost a year (11 months) late? Please enlightened me. It's my first time to petition, I know nothing. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

  3. I arrived in the US and received my green card 3 months ago from the Philippines. My underage kids are listed in my visa application so I can easily petition for them, however I would like for their father to join us in the US. We've been together for 20 years and never married. Should I go home and marry him so I can file for him to come to the US? Will the US government accept him as a spouse if I married him after the green card was issued to me for less than 2 years. What is the fastest and legal way I can get him to join me in the US?

Hi, you can go home and marry the guy, when you get back here in the US, then you can file for F2A.

My friend did the same thing. He was and still a GC holder up to now, but he went home (Philippines) last year to marry his then girlfiend (now wife). Then he filed for F2A, now they're just waiting for her to have medical and to be interviewed at the US Embassy.

  4. You will have 1-year from the date that you paid for IV fee if your case is currently being processed by NVC.

If you case is still pending at USCIS, you will receive RFE and you will have 90 days to response; otherwise, USCIS will consider your application abandoned.

Hope this is an answer that you're looking for.

Thank you. I haven't receive RFE yet or anything so far. But my mother's case isn't in NVC yet I believe. I paid the IV fee and AOS in September I believe.

  5. You can wait for her postal ID and use that with her NBI clearance. That's 2 supporting documents. If you were able to get a passport without a primary ID then she shouldn't have problems with not being able to present one.

I got mine 9 years ago. When they weren't asking for primary ID and supporting documents. And no need to schedule for an appointment. Everyone was doing "walk ins".

  6. Contact a Travel Agency to help her, those travel agencies have contacts in DFA that maybe can help. Those primary IDs are standard policy, but if you have someone who knows someone maybe they can do something. They will just turn her away if she don't have any of those ID.

That's the problem, we don't know someone who knows someone that can help us. I talked to couple of agencies but I've never heard from them again :-( . Do you know any trusted agency somewhere around Metro Manila? Thank you!!!

The new postal id is valid govt id for getting Philippine passport.

Postal ID is just one of the supporting documents. These are the primary IDs:

IST OF ACCEPTABLE IDS (At least 1 of the following):
  7. How old is she? Can she get a Senior Citizen's ID yet?

    What about the BIR ID?

She should also be able to get the Unified Multi-Purpose ID:

    https://www.sss.gov.ph/sss/DownloadContent?fileName=SSSForms_UMID_Application.pdf

You can use the NBI Clearance and Police Clearance to apply for it.

Does she have an old College ID or Alumni Association ID? or Company IDs from previous jobs?

LIST OF ACCEPTABLE IDS (At least 1 of the following):

    • Government-issued picture IDs such as the following:

    • Digitized SSS ID

    • Driver’s License

    • GSIS E-card

    • PRC ID

    • IBP ID

    • OWWA ID

    • Digitized BIR ID

    • Senior Citizen’s ID

    • Unified Multi-Purpose ID

    • Other acceptable picture IDs such as the following:

    • Old College ID

    • Alumni ID

    • Old Employment IDs

She's 52 years old. She doesn't have any primary IDs. That's our problem. I would love to know if there's any way we can get her a passport even if she doesn't have primary ID. She has no any college IDs, she didn't even finish her grade school. She never worked either or have a business, that's why she can't get those acceptable government IDs. Thank you!

  8. Hello everyone, specially to those knowledgeable about Department Of Foreign Affairs rules in the Philippines.

My mother was getting a passport. And went to DFA Aseana twice. But she only has supporting documents. She doesn't have any of those primary ID. And there's no way she can get one of those. As of now, she only has a delayed registration of birth certificate, NBI Clearance, Police Clearance, Barangay Clearance and we're waiting for her Postal ID to be released.

Is there anybody here can give me some advice on what we can do? I badly need my mother's passport because our case can't be forwarded to US Embassy Manila unless she has her passport since the government changed her name.

I really need help! Thank you.

  9. You should call 7am EST or 9-12pm EST. They are open 7am - 12MN EST. When I was in San Diego I called 6:30am SD time and that like 9am their time and got thru within 15 mins. That is the best way I can think to make things clear since they are the approving authority.

Try to call 603-334-0700 or 603-334-0888. Be ready with your MNL number.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, I APPRECIATE IT.

That 603-334-700 never worked for me for how many days.

  10. You do know that your case is special, right? You have to discuss that with NVC, so they can specifically tell you how to proceed. Is the priority date now current?

Aw, I forgot to tell that I tried to call NVC like a thousand times, but seems like they have no plans on picking up their phones, LOL. I emailed them, but I got no reply yet. That's one of my problems too, I couldn't contact them to let them know my concern.

    THANK YOU :-) !!!

  11. Getting a new birth certificate to the NSO/ PSA System may take at least 2 months. Do you have at least the copy from the Local Civil Registrar? You can get a certified copy from them and that can be your basis on the actual name to use on the visa application. Whatever it is on the Local Civil registrar file is what it will show in the NSO/ PSA system later on.

Write a letter and you can attach the Local Civil registrar copy of the BC. You have no other way but to explain the circumstances.

Thanks, I appreciate your suggestions :-) . But my problem is, I couldn't proceed to NVC, once I fill up the data online, it should be the same name as what my mother have on her passport. If I'll follow the new name she has now, which is having her mother's maiden name as her family name, it will be different from the name in I-130. That is why I am looking for anybody who had been through in the same situation as mine. Thank you!!!!

  12. When I filed an immigrant visa petition for my mother, Maria Cruz Castro, she did not yet have a birth certificate. So, she applied for a late registration birth certificate in the Philippines. When she applied, the registrar told her that her name would have to be Maria Cruz. Since her parents were not yet married when she was born, she would have to use her mother's last name, with no middle name. So, when issued, her birth certificate will be for Maria Cruz, different from Maria Cruz Castro.

I called INS and was told to mail a letter asking to amend my application to the new name, and to explain the above in the letter. I thought it would be best to wait until my mother had her new birth certificate to make sure the name matched what was expected.

However, she has still not received her new birth certificate, and now I need to submit the visa application form.

    My questions are:

    1. Should I go ahead and enter her expected birth certificate name of Maria Cruz on the visa application?

    2. What do I need to do to document the change of name from Maria Cruz Castro (from the petition) to Maria Cruz?

    Thank you!!!

  13. Hello,

I filed i-130 petition for my mother june of this year. I received my NOA-1 last July 25th. After that, never heard any updates. I assumed that it is still in the mid of processing. It has been over 2 months and never heard anything though. Should I be concerned? OR does it really takes that long before receiving any updates from the immigration. My papers was forwarded to Texas.

Hoping to find answers and explanation :)

    Thank you.

I'll be following on this Kabayan. I filedI130 for my mother in June as well. I just got NOA 2 few days ago. mY Lock box is in Phoenix, AZ. [;ease keep me posted. I have no idea on what I should do next after NOA2. Thank you!

  14. IR-5 has not been approved yet. You hasn't even started the IR-5 application yet. By filing I-130 you just told the DHS that you have a relative in a foreign country and you would like to bring your relative to US. Now NVC will compile a packet of documents and send it to the Embassy/Consulate closest to your Mom's current location. After that the embassy will send your mother a packet of documents with instructions on how to apply for IR-5 visa. She will need to fill out some paperwork, pay visa fee and pass a medical examination. When everything is completed, she will attend the interview after which the visa should be approved and issued to her.

Thank you for the quick reply and for the info. So she's the one pays the visa and medical exam in my home country? Thank you!!!!

  15. Hi,

I am assuming that you filed an i-130 petition for alien relative for your mom. On that form, if you can recall, they requested contact info for the relative - this case, it's your mom - so that is how they will get in touch with her to schedule the interview. So, no worries....just keep in touch with her and let her know to expect a phone call from the embassy that will be conducting the interview.

It is optional for you to attend with her.

Thank you for spending time regarding my concern. I appreciate it a lot and thank you for the info :-)

  16. Hello fellas,

I petition my mother and I got a letter today saying that she's approved. And that her case was forwarded to NVC. But the letter didn't say anything of what should we do next. I don't have any idea on what to do. The letter says they will contact my mother (beneficiary), but I don't know how.

Please, give me some ideas on what should I do now that she's approved. Thank you in advance!!!
