  1. We got an RFE letter as well on 5/25/18 and we mailed it a week later because we wanted to gather as much information as we could. It took them 25 days after they received the package to update the case. It changed to " new card being produced" today but we also did a case inquiry on the 3rd of this month. After the case updated today, they replied via email to let me know that my card is being produced. Hope this helps, wish you the best.

  2. Good News,  my status changed to "new card is being produced" today. I got a notification from case tracker. We mailed our paperwork on 5/16/17, it's been so long that I don't even remember the biometrics date (i'll have to look when i get the chance) but we received an RFE letter on 5/25/17 and we mailed it about a week later after going through emails and gathering documents to prove we were legit, USPS lost the package but found it after 3 days, and got the good news at work today. I wasn't sure whether to cry or not...I told hubby immediately and we're just glad it's over. Now to apply for citizenship.

To everyone waiting, hang in there and those who got their cards, how long did it take before you received the card?

SMDH, TBH. What did the wording of the letter say? And I can't tell from your poast a) what you already sent, and b) what you have, and plan to send in response to the RFE? Can you clarify those, fam? If you don't have a joint bank account (with evidence of both cards for the account being used to buy things) and joint tax transcripts, then you're basically guaranteed an RFE despite the fact that the rest of the evidence you have being solid enough. Also, do you have joint health insurance? I think that one counts as 'heavyweight' evidence, in a way that affidavits/letters and car insurance don't.

Is the shaking your head to me for not giving then enough information? In my post, I did state that I have a life insurance policy with my husband as the beneficiary and we do have a joint bank account but we will add everything else that they requested for like letters, more bank statements and the life insurance policy which we didn't add the first time. We also have more bills and letters from our lawyer addressing us both when my husband was involved in an accident due to someone else's negligence. I just posted to get some help, not to be judged. Unless I read your post wrong. Thanks

Hi all, I am a may 2017 filer and i am posting in this forum for the first time. I was at the store when my husband called that I received a letter from immigration and we were both happy that he waited for me to get home so we could open it together but it was a RFE letter. Did anyone else receive this? We are currently looking for mail that has both our names and printing everything we can to show that our marriage is real. We threw away most mail that we thought was junk but now we need it.. smh

Is there a way to print out utility bills from months ago? We don't think it's possible but we thought we'd ask and maybe have a friend who introduced us, my family and his family write letters saying we are legit. We have bank statements, jackson bills, an old comcast bill (just 1), lease agreement, an old life insurance policy i had with him as a beneficiary but they spelt his name wrong though his first name and date of birth is correct, i have him on my current life insurance policy at work (waiting for tomorrow to get a copy), car insurance, our flight for july this year in vegas, our hotel room, and letters from our lawyer addressing us from when my husband was involved in an accident. Is this enough? I admit that the first time we didn't give them enough information so here we are..

Any tips will be appreciated. I think i really wouldn't mind if they came to our house just so they could see that we are legit!.

Also, I don't know why my timeline is still showing adjustment of status on the left, i changed it to lifting conditions. Maybe it takes a while to update?

  6. I am doing a lot of reading too. A greencard holder doesn't guarantee an entry to a different country aside from your Country of Origin. You have to check the visa requirements on the country where you want to travel. Not unless we become USC then we can travel anywhere without visa restriction.

We actually wanted to travel to my country. We knew it didn't make sense but asked just in case though we knew it was ridiculous.

  7. So glad I did not discard the 2nd EAD card for my son, got a letter from USCIS reclaiming the duplicate card. I filled out the form and signed it and enclosed the EAD. My son is at his girlfriend's house for the week before school starts so I hope it is ok that I signed since he is under 18 yrs old. Do you guys think it will cause a problem that I signed the form? I printed (mother) beside my signature if that helps any.

I received the same letter. Have to send the second one back.

  8. Congrats to all of you getting their interviews and green cards approved. This website and forum has been a great support system for us during this AOS journey.

However, today I feel so hopeless about this process :crying: I know we must be patient but today is one of those bad days for me, and I would like to ask if any of you have ever applied for a relative visa while still waiting for green card.

    Some of our story:

My husband and I got married on August 2013. We wanted to apply soon, but life became really tough for us. We were in school, young, and cero savings. My husband had a good job and we thought that we could keep going with our lives, but he lost his job and things changed for us. He found a job in a Toyota dealership, and that became a nightmare. His salary was based on commission, so if he didn't sale anything he wouldn't make any money, so we were basically paying for him to go to work. We were living with money my mom was sending us and few savings, and I couldn't afford paying for my tuition as international student. It was really hard, but we made it and I don't regret all the sacrifices because we are still together and happy. Now my husband has a really good job again, and things are way more better.

So, we finally applied on April 22/2015, biometrics done on May 18/2015 and Employment Authorization approved on July 6/2015. Now we are waiting for our interview. I called today and they told me that the case is in the normal waiting timeline bla bla bla and I would have to wait 5 more months. We haven't gotten any request of evidence, and on the website the case hasn't been updated except for biometrics and employment authorization.

I did not apply for AP because a lawyer told us it does not guarantee admission into the US, and to be honest I thought this process was going to be faster. (One of my friends applied for her husband and the whole process only took 3 months.)

I haven't seen my mom in so many years, and I don't think I can wait any longer. I'm the only child, and I know my mom is desperate to see me as well. I know this process might take much longer than we expected, so I want her to apply for a visa so she could spend christmas with us, but she is afraid she gets rejected because of my status still pending for adjustment.

My mom is retired, she has properties and grandma lives with her, so she has her life in Colombia and has no intentions to overstay in the US. Do you guys think we should just go for it and try it? or is it too complicated to get her a visa during this AOS process?

    :goofy:

I'm not too sure but if it don't get any answers, you can ask a lawyer and just because they told you 5 months doesn't mean it will take that long. Keep your head up, everything will be ok. If you want, type question on Avvo.com. It's free and a lawyer will answer you. Best of luck

  9. Good morning everyone. My wife (K-1) / daughter (K-2) had their AOS interview yesterday in the Fresno, CA USCIS branch office and were approved on the spot. :)

We waited around 20 minutes before we were called in for our appointment time and then we were called upon by the IO to their office to begin the interview. We had a very nice lady interviewer and right off the bat she told me that she had gone over our case and appreciated the fact of me submitting (frontloaded) any evidence for my wife/daughters I-485. My wife was then swore in and she only asked her how we met and our current home address. The only other detail that the IO covered was the general questions on the I-485 form in which I interpreted for my wife and she replied promptly to all. She was very appreciative of me being the interpreter and sparked up a brief conversation with our 5 year old daughter in English with an inquiry of what was her favorite activity in school (Kindergarten). My daughter responded "coloring" and she mentioned that it was also her granddaughters favorite school activity. The interview was more like a friendly conversation amongst a couple people and my wife/daughter felt very comfortable. Lastly, she congratulated us on approval and said that they should receive their Green cards within 2 weeks while going over the details for removing conditions in 2 years. She also stated when my wife can apply for her US citizenship while daughter being eligible to derive citizenship by law since she will still be under 18. We took our original copies of marriage, birth certificates (with translation), and passports but she was only interested in viewing the details on my wife/daughters passport and my US birth certificate.

Anyhow, this concludes our AOS journey for a while until ROC God willing. I have gone ahead and scheduled my wife's appointment for her DMV written exam for late September while it's back to Kindergarten for my daughter after missing school yesterday.

Best of luck to all the fellow April AOS filers! :)

    Congratulations ?

  11. We have our interview tomorrow here in Las Vegas at 12:15 p.m. While I love to say that I am cool, calm and collected, that is not the case. I am anxious and I am unsure why. We filed back on March 31 and have not had any RFE's. Did Biometrics and went through and received the EAD card no problem. We have everything in order as far as our paperwork is concerned yet still I am nervous. We have all of the required paperwork from the list in a binder along with a joint car title, three months of bank statements, a joint utility bill, two joint credit card statements and made a hard bound book with approximately 200 photos spanning from 2006 to present. I am the USC and my partner the beneficiary and we have been waiting for this day for a long time now. I will be reporting tomorrow in detail on the experience.

It's normal. My husband and I were so nervous we didn't finish our breakfast but we didn't have any problems. Mostly the ones who have problems are the ones who marry just for the card. They know that people do it and they have signs that tell them if it's legit or not. You guys will be ok

  12. My husband and I went 2 months ago and opened a joint bank account...YAHHHH

Last week when I applied for my SS NUMBER..YAHHH

Same day I went to the Bank to do my last name change..and new cheques with my married name . ..YAHHH

Yesterday got a call from the bank officer informing me that I am being deleted from the account until my SS CARD comes in because since 9/11 they are being more cautious to money laundering to fund terrorism overseas and such..... OMG . .I don't think DHS would grant me ENTRY let alone my EAD and AP if they ever felt I was ML.... I told that to them but it's their policy ... BOO

Anybody else run into this issue ???

My husband and I have a joint account and we did it before I got my SSN. And before I met him I had an account too. Maybe it's the bank you're with

  13. Whoop whoop...received my AP TODAY...But mine came as a...

    I-512L

    Expires.July 29,2016

It has 2 identical copies...why did it come this way ? My AP Application required a RFE and my EAD was approved 2 weeks prior to my AP.

I get to go see my new grand babies for the first time next month ?

It also says that Parole into the USA is NOT guaranteed. It also says "upon humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit" ... Is going back to Canada to visit my children under either category ?

I think the best thing to do is call uscis or ask your lawyer if you have one. If not maybe posting your question on avvo could be helpful coz the lawyers there will respond. Congrats by the way
