  1. Hi,

Sorry, I asked about your local VFS office, not biometric?

Did your wife got to local VFS office with original documents,

Sorry to asking this , some people saying that its needed to go to local VFS office before interview with all originals?

And what about biometric of your wife is it take too much time?

I am asking this because I got appoinment for biometric 2:30 pm on 15/oct and I have interview 8:30 am on 16/oct. For make sure that there is no problem or delay in biometric process

And also please share when your wife get visa on hand.

Sorry for being confused.. No, She didnt go to the VFS office. She got her medical done, then biometrics and finally the interview where she took the originals.

Biometric was done in 5 minutes - she was lucky enough to find an empty counter. She reached an hour early before the appt time for biometric and still they let her inside & complete it before time. So, there shouldnt be any need to worry about any delay at biometrics.

Yes, I will surely post when we get the visa.

  2. NVC informed over phone today that my interview is on 2nd November in Mumbai. Not received the email yet.

Can someone please answer the following doubts.

    1. Can we attend the fingerprinting, medical and interview with the email printout.

    2. Do we get a hard copy of the interview letter in the mail.

The NVC person told that they will not send any mail only email. Is that correct?

    Thanks

First of all, Congrats for the interview date...

My wife attended her medical with the email print out. We did receive the email after 4 business day, I believe. I also received the interview letter via mail and I was able to send it to her before her fingerprint and interview. If I am not wrong, at fingerprint they checked DS 260 confirmation page and passport.

I dont know if it matters with the email printout or the letter from mail for the interview.

Hope it helps a bit until u get a better reply.

  3. All, Who went for Interview today, so how it went? What they asked? Please share your experience.

VISA APPROVED!!! My wife had an interview at Mumbai Consulate today at 8:30am. Below mentioned is her experience with some extra perks:

I got her a stay at the Kohinoor elite hotel (3 star) which is within 3 kms from biometrics and embassy. Good hotel to stay with complimentary airport transfer and all meals (buffet and even evening snacks) inclusive. Booked from Yatra.com and luckily they had 30% off offer going on that day. Would recommend this hotel - it suited my budget.

Reached at 7:30am to find a long queue.. people standing before have interview time at 9 and even 10am. A police officer came and asked the interview time and helped to move forward in the line.

1st counter - took stamped DS260 and checked interview letter. I believe they pasted the token number on the interview letter.

While waiting for the token, a person helped her to manage her documents.

2nd counter - An indian lady, asked if traveled other to US or other countries. Brought the file sent from NVC. Gave the domestic violence pamphlet to read. I am not sure if they asked for the originals here or at the interview (Sorry for being incomplete)

Waited for the real interview to start while going through the pamphlet.

3rd and final counter - An English gentleman went through her documents and asked the following questions:

    1. spouse job title and description - description was asked because from the title he couldnt understand the work details

    2. How and When we met.

    3. Marriage date and when did the spouse went back to US

    4. spouse address in US

    5. Marriage and ongoing relation proof - photo album

    6. Who all came to the wedding from US

    7. Finally, with who does the spouse stay... straight forward and simple questions in all

Gave the visa is approved paper with the details for the fees to apply for the green card...

This is something my wife heard at the embassy, if u dont have an original PCC, one can show that when collecting the visa stamped passport - not sure how reliable this info is.

Feeling relief.. I was more tensed that my wife.. couldnt sleep for 2 nights straight.. PARTY TIME!!!

Hopefully my description above, gave u some idea... Please let me know if you have any questions!!! Congrats to all who got their visa approved and Good luck for the interviewees in future!!!

No words be enough to show my heart felt appreciation to VJ, dwheels and the members here. You all do a remarkable work like everyone should - help each other. Thank you all !!!

  4. Hi maniput,

I wonder how they will know if he just started a new job two weeks prior to the interview. Bring the most recent pay stub for new job as well as the last pay stub for old job. I would ask NVC, the embassy, and then bring the original I-864 EZ and another updated 864EZ with new job, regardless of what they say. I am holding off on starting a job anywhere else until the visa is approved since I do not know how they treat a sudden job change. Hopefully it is all good. Also, bring a resume for your spouse and for yourself, just in case they ask for it or it may help somehow.

    Good luck!

I believe jayisis is correct. I talked to an agency with the same question. And he answered that if it just one or two weeks, dont mention at the embassy at all.. just show the recent pay stub if and only if asked for proof. I'm sending the new I-864 form with the same details as I filled in the previous form. Most important is that - just mention that no change happened, since visa application submission, in terms of job.

    Good luck!!!

  5. Hi! I encourage you all (fatty1011, Magazine, sherin001) to meet each other prior to the interview. There were three other Australians being interviewed on "our" day, and it really meant a lot to us to meet each other in person after so many months agonizing on Visa Journey! It helped calm us down (a lot!). We met for breakfast and walked to the consulate together. Best of luck to all of you!

    Sukie in NY

Thanks Sukie... I'm in.. fatty1011 and Magazine??

  6. And sherin001 I am from kochi

Now I am searching for good hotels near to us consulate and VAC for staying

    Searching on tripadviser

Is anyone know good hotels for staying 1 night?

Since Sofitel and trident are kinda expensive.. Kohinoor elite isnt that bad probably .. its 3km from consulate.. Yes, VAC and US consulate are different.. but when you search for VAC, it shows as US Visa Info Service for India. So maybe VAC/biometric is done at that place???

  7. Definitely I can answer to this.

Medical - Medical test done by Physician. This u need to find the hospital which is approved by US Consulate.

Biometrics - Finger prints and photographs taken at one of VAC - Visa Application Center of US Consulate. This u have to schedule using ustraveldocs.

Hey SiVin - The VAC is same as The U.S. Visa Information Service for India (VFS) office in Mumbai or its different?

  8. Thanks SiVin, for the information

I am from kerala, near to kochi

So I decided to get medicals from amrita hospital, kochi kerala

Now reading above I think its better for me to take VAC appoinment for biometrics at bombay itself

Thanks for the informstion. Its so helpful

Hi Antonyros, My wife is from Kochi and she has scheduled her medical at amrita. Have u scheduled your biometrics? accommodation??

  9. How did you schedule a medical appointment? Where are the instructions for this?

My wife is in kerala.. She called directly to the authorized physician hospital/office in Kerala and got an appt. They also mentioned the required documents which are same as the provided instructions by US consulate Mumbai - Use the link below for the instructions:

  10. My wife's appt too is in 01-Oct. Let's plan our accommodations together. Desperately waiting for P4 letter.

so do we need to wait till we receive the email confirmation to schedule medical exam? How much will it cost?

All those you are waiting.. its happening.. it might speed up from now on. Good luck :)

  12. Hello everyone

I have few questions. All of you who are waiting for the interview date, where exactly are your paperwork currently? Is it at NVC or embassy mumbai. I have called the embassy and they said that its still at NVC. My CC is 20th July.

Also, is it true that the scheduling is usually done at the last week of a month as well as first week of the next month??

Thank you for your reply and good luck to all of us who are waiting!!
