Ah this is exactly what I was worried about. I didn't realise that I could provide passport at a later date. That would be ideal. Thanks
I got my interview about a month after the notification, 15th Dec, in Ireland (where I live). This has precipitated a massive shitstorm because they'll keep my passport for 7-10 WORKING days which stretvches between 24 & 31 Dec & destroys my (paid for) holiday on the 30th since I won't have a passport. My advice: if you get an appointment in Dec, push it back to Jan, and enjoy your xmas.

No not had notice that it's at embassy but I telephone NVC weekly and have been told for the last three weeks that they are awaiting dates from London. They can't say though when this is likely to be. I want to go away over Christmas but if we get a Dec date this may be difficult.

Our case (I130) was complete mid November. Now awaiting interview date at embassy. I am unable to find out any idea of timescale from NVC other than 'wait for interview date'. Can anyone say if this is likely to be this month? Am anxious to make plans for Christmas and time is running out. Any help appreciated.

Oh thanks that is interesting. Can I ask where in the process you are?

The advice we had was that we would flag up as having an application in progress when we entered and on this basis they may feel we were entering with the intention of staying.

Thanks for your replies. Received advice from an immigration lawyer not to visit whilst I-130 in progress so have now cancelled our trip. However we have since received confirmation that case has been passed to the NVC for processing. My question now is can anyone give an approximation of timescale using London Consulate. This is importAnt to us as we are not visiting USA on extended vacation then we must look for rented accommodation in UK which will mean a six month tenancy. Thanks in advance.

My daughter has filed the I-130 (end of April) and after a recent phone call we understand that we won't hear until early October. My question is we want to visit for an extended stay in September. If we hear about application whilst in the States can we apply whilst over here for a change of status or must we return to the UK.? I have read that you can apply for the second stage whilst in USA bit am unable to find that information again.

Do you mean that you were notified of your interview date one month after processing completion , or were you given one month 's notice of your interview.
