  1. Hi,

If your wife arrived on an immigrant visa, her visa becomes a temporary I-551 green card good for 1 year upon endorsement when she entered the US. Look to see if she has it. If she does, then she is a green card holder and authorized to work.

She arrived on a immigrant visa CR-1 because we have been married for less than 2 years so I do not know if that affects that I will look into it. Thanks.

  2. Wow, that's unbelievable! Happy for you!

Have you ever lived in the US as an adult?

Unfortunately both my parents live in Brazil (my dad is american and I get my citizenship from him) but I also was born here.

I moved to the US when I was 17 then I came back to El Salvador because of my girlfriend (now my wife), that is why I can use my mother as a joint affidavit and live with them for a while. I am actually applying for jobs in the US. Sometime employers do interview via skype. You should try. Hope everything goes well.

  3. I will tell you my story,

I live in El Salvador and I filed the I-130 for my wife on june 15th, 2015, today is august 26th 2015 and I already sent packet 3 just waiting for her medical exams and interview,(Only two months have past and she almost has her interview, that is fast) My mother will be my joint sponsor because I do not have a job in the states, I also specified at the beginning of my process in the I-130 that she was going to live at my parents house. Hope this helps.

  4. Hi,

I am about to start the process of filling out the visa aapplication for my wife but looking at the sample that they have, there is a question that reads:

Hace you ever been refused a U.S. visa, been refused admission to U.S, or withdrawn your application for admission at the port of entry?.

My wife applied last year for a tourist visa (before we got marry) and was denied in the interview.

Do I need to answer "yes" to this question and explain what happened at that time?

    Thank you for your help.

I would say yes, then you can explain(a comment box pops up when you click "yes") the reason why your wife was refused a US visa. DO NOT LIE.

  5. My cousin is filing his D-260 and on the question "Have you ever been arrested or convicted for any offense or crime, even though subject of a pardon, amnesty, or other similar action?"

Note: He was going to the beach and his friend's friend had some ilegal subtances (small amount) they got pulled over by the police and found it, all of them were taken to the police station for 48 hours, then they were release, my cousin said that the police did not take any documents or information about them, it was just to retain them for having a small amount of drugs in the car.

My question is, even though there are no records of this arrest, should he answer yes to the question and explain the situation?

    Thanks

  6. NO and NO.

My husband lived with me too, but he wasn't immigrating, because he is a USC. He will not immigrate later, because he is a USC. He will fly home, he won't immigrate.

The form DS-260 is the same for other visas too, for example DV lottery visas were a winner can enter the USA first, and family members can follow them later.

Ohhh I see, you are right, thank you so much.

  7. My wife is filling out DS-260 and one of the questions says:

YOUR SPOUSE IMMIGRATING TO THE U.S WITH YOU? yes/no

I(US Citizen) am living in El Salvador because I submitted my petition with Direct Consular Filing(US Embassy), so I do not know what to select because if I select NO, it asks
IS YOUR SPOUSE IMMIGRATING AT A LATER DATE TO JOIN YOU ? YES/NO

    thanks,

  8. I am filling out the form DS-260 and I have a question about.

My wife got her passport before we got married so after we got married her name changed

In my form it says to list her name as it appears on the passport,

since her name changed what should I do?

In the other field it says "Have you ever used other names(i.e., maiden, religious, professional, alias, etc.)"

should I write her name already changed after we got married?

I hope I made myself clear, I have attached a screenshot as well. thanks.

  9. You should be receiving a Packet 3 from the consulate. Once you complete, you'll return the packet to the consulate and they will then schedule an interview. Start calling them directly and ask for Packet 3 so you can start working on it. http://sansalvador.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas/contact-us.html

I already got packet 3 on my email (that was fast!!). After I submit this package and gather all the proper documentation, how long would you say it takes to schedule the final interview(I know this is when it comes to the medical exams)?

  10. Sorry to post this here which is a Direct Consular Filing(DCF) but no one ever answers on the DCF forum. I contacted the US Embassy here in El Salvador because I submitted my wife's application with them (DCF), but I did not get a response in a long time. After sending an email I got a response back (please see attached screenshot) my question is the following?

I do not see a case number on the letter, Will I be getting another letter in the mail?

How far along am I in the process, estimate of months?

Note:The case did not go to national visa center, it was sent to the consular department here at the US Embassy in El Salvador

  11. My wife's petition I-130 has been approved today at the US Embassy in El Salvador. The approval notice says that the petition has been moved to the Consular Section at this embassy in El Salvador. How can I keep track of my case?

    Thanks,

Note: This notification was sent to me by email, maybe I will be receiving anything else on the mail? What do you guys think?
