  1. Looking for some advice. My husband filed for AOS Feb 18, 2016. He did his biometrics March 15 and recieved his EAD May 1. We still have not heard anything regarding is i-485. We have tried to call and all they tell us is that it's within the processing time. Except that on the processing times for the Buffalo field office, it says that as of June 30th, they were working on i-485 with dates as of February 10. Am I not understanding the processing times tables correctly? Anyone have any advice on what we should do here?

  2. Hello,

I am hoping that some of you who have already gone through the K-1 AOS process might be able to help me with this.

My husband entered the US in Nov on a K-1; we got married at the beginning of Feb and filed for PR/EAD. My husband's cousin entered the same weekend (but in a different state) on a K-1 also; he and his wife married but have not filed any of the documents for AOS. The cousin was told by an immigration lawyer that a) they don't have to file within the 90 days for AOS and b) that he can get a job as long as he has a SSN and an ID. The cousin was evidently was offered a job 2 weeks ago at a call center and was told that he could work there as long as he didn't require sponsorship. My husband of course is frustrated because I have been telling him he cannot work until he has the EAD in hand, and he very desperately wants to work (boredom is the main factor here, not financial necessity). Is my understanding of this process incorrect? Is it possible to work while documents are in process?

    Thanks for your input!

  3. Anybody have any experience with trying to get in contact with the Embassy in Managua? Our visa status on ceac says that our petition is ready for interview but I haven't received anything yet. I've tried calling the consulate, but all it does is take me to an automated message. I emailed the visa desk but all they said was to wait. I'm concerned that something has been sent but I didn't get it. Has anyone ever been able to talk to an actual person there??

    Thanks for your help!

  4. I received our NOA2 on June 29, and since then have heard NOTHING. Nothing in snail mail or email--and I've sent 2 emails to the inquiry email listed on the NOA2. Yesterday, I finally called the NVC and was told that they forwarded our petition to the Embassy in Managua on 8/3/15. I also asked for the case #, but when I attempt to enter it into the state dept website it tells me the case number is invalid. Am I jumping the gun? Do I need to wait until the petition is received by Managua in order to be able to log in with the case #? What is a reasonable amount of time to wait for the confirmation email to arrive from the Embassy stating they have received our petition?

Secondly--should I tell my fiance to go ahead and schedule his medical exam? Or should I wait until we receive something from the Embassy?

I'm feeling a little stressed about the timeline and lack of communication at this point. I would be clueless if this website didn't exist.
