  1. from what I've read here, it i best to email to receive packet 3, apparently some people never receive it in the mail or they take a long time to come in the mail. But you are almost done with everything , so yayy :)

I think I might be stressing too much about this process :sleepy:

trust me when I say my fiance says constantly that i stress over this too much! I just figured I worry more than him anyway...

I did email the embassy and ask about Packet 3 and they stated they would send a letter to my fiance regarding the next steps. That was on Wednesday, and of course yesterday, I (not my fiance) got a letter for him to go online and to complete DS-160 and to start to gather documents. I am thinking that will be the same letter he (my fiance) gets.

You should be hearing something any day. Have you been calling NVC?

  2. That is great! Based on that email, it looks like no translation needed. Thanks for letting me know :)

Is that packet 3 that you received? so that means your case is the embassy? I am trying to get a timeline as to when my case will get to NVC. It has been 5 days since it was sent. How long did it take for you?

I dont think it was the packet 3. I think that goes to my fiance. He hasnt received that yet.

This was just a letter from NVC stating they sent my case to the embassy, which I already knew last week.(lag time!) It stated what the next step was to go online and fill out form DS-160 and gather my docs. We still have to wait for Packet 3, but by the time it comes we will have gathered everything by then.

The time from Service Center to NVC was very fast, NOA2 was dated Aug 7, and on Aug 13th I received email that TSC sent case to NVC. I received letter yesterday that NVC sent to Embassy. I know the letters come a few days after it has actually been done.. so it goes pretty fast.

  3. so now I heard from 2 people saying that it does not need to be lol. Did you email the embassy to get packet 3? that is usually the fastest way.

Just when I thought everything was done with TSC, but nooo, they had my name misspelled on the approval notice so i had to call them to fix it but the case has already been sent to NVC. Now I am told I have to contact NVC so they could fix it as well.

Questions: after how long did you contact NVC to get the case number after it has been sent to NVC?? It has been 3 days so far, so not sure if I am too early.

Morning! I received a letter from NVC yesterday with instructions on what to do next... within the letter it stated this:

"Documents in foreign languages, other than the language of the country in which the application takes place, should be translated. Applicants should take to the visa interview clear, legible photocopies of civil documents and translations, such as birth and divorce certificates. Original documents and translations will be returned."

So it appears that if the county you are interviewing with speaks the same language that your documents are in, you do not need to translate. However, if you documents are in a different language than the country, they will need to be translated.

  4. that was fast :) Did you complete everything else already? as far as DS160, I134 and account on UStraveldocs and visa fee?

No we havent done any of that yet.. and I dont know if I should. We have reviewed the forms, and have all the info ready to be filled out... but havent proceeded with sending them in yet. I beleive that is all included with Packet 3, and since we technically havent received, I dont want to complicate by sending items they havent asked for yet.

I asked a few more question on the response, and got this reply: They are awesome at answering!!

    Good afternoon,

    Thank you for your email!

K-1 is a non- immigrant visa, however K-1 inquiries are sent to the same email address: Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov

Please note the status “ready” is a glitch in the system. Once we receive your case at post we will contact you.

    Best regards,

  6. I don't know how's it in Canada but the consulate in Vietnam won't answer anything . They told me that everything now will be contact by email. Mine showed ready few days ago. Checked DHL tracking and saw the case is there as well but they said that our physical file is not there and that they won't be able to send our packet 3 to our email. The letter in the packet 3 is all were waiting for right now. Keep us posted.

They have already responded to my email!! That is pretty awesome.. I was not expecting that... It is not exactly what I wanted to hear, but it was a response within the hour!!

I didnt email them... but will go ahead and do so now!

I started calling the NVC 4 days after I received NOA2..... but could never get through to anyone. I finally got thru sometime the next week (i think toward the end of the week), and she told me it had already been sent to the embassy in Montreal two days before that. This past Monday the ceac.state.gov was already showing Ready!! It went pretty fast.. so since it seems to be on a roll.. I will email embassy today and see whats next. I tried calling yesterday, but I couldnt get a live person.

  8. How's everyone doing? This thread has been quiet☺ no news is good news right?

Thesuitelady, i was able to find out a little bit more about the extrait d'archive. I have found 3 people telling me that they had it translated. And one telling me that it is not necessary and I am waiting on one more person. So I am still unsure but to be on the safe side we might just have it translated. Hope this helps. Good luck ☺

Yes, that is what I decided. But to just go ahead and get it translated. I would never want to give them any reason to delay this any longer!! It is better for us to give them want they ask for and then some!!

I am waiting for my fiance to receive Packet 3.. i checked ceac.state.gov and status is now showing Ready... but the packet 3 letter says we still cant scheduled interview... I feel like we should be doing something, and not just waiting... but i was told the Montreal consulate would send us further info...not really sure what to do!

    How's it going for you?

  9. Hi guys, for those who are at the interview stage already, or if anyone knows, does the Birth certificate of my fiance needs to be translated when bringing at the interview or would it be fine if we just bring the original and a copy??

Hi waiting4areason! Sorry I dont have an answer for you, but I am interested in the answer to this question. My fiance original birth country is Haiti, although he lives on Montreal now. His birth certificate is in French. But since Montreal is French speaking, so I dont know if it needs to be translated, or any/all of his documents need to be translated to English! I just assumed French would be okay, since Montreal (Embassy) is french speaking also. Anyone know??

  10. It has been always like that I believe. Just have to keep calling. I felt the same as you when I got this message each time I called. But one day (around 7:30am est) I got a message that they were helping other customers and told to hold. I was on hold for 30 minutes, but was able to get my case number, and was told that our application was sent to the US embassy managing my fiancée s visa. Keep trying. Almost there :)

Ok Thanks! I will keep trying. =) Will they eventually send a notice that it has been sent to the embassy? (just in case I never get through on the phone?) I just dont want to be waiting, if there is something we can be doing in the meantime.. I dont know if it is NVC or the Embassy that tells us the next step...

  11. Has anyone tried calling the NVC lately? When I call I get an automated message that the customer service reps are busy helping other customers, Call back later. and basically hangs up after repeating in Spanish.... (????) How long has it been giving this message? I have tried early morning, during the day, and late in the evening. All the same message. Is there any other way to know if your case has been received, and when does it get sent off to the embassy in my fiance's country. Just trying to figure whats next.... <_<

    Thanks in advance! :)

  12. :joy::joy::joy::joy: Congrats!!! Allways good to see these!

    guys, we got approved!

10 mnths and two days from NOA1. No RFE.

They relized they had his name wrong. it was just totally weird because to us it didnt look wrong on the NOA1, it had the same format as mine, but they say it was. Then they fixed it and then they approved us.

OMG OMG OMG, my case finally has been approved! !!!!!FINALLY!! I am sooo excited l, I don't even know what to do with myself

CONGRATS to you and your fiance!!! It was about time!!

Happy dance for you too!!! :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

  13. my RFE was delivered back to them at 8:35 this morning...hopefully it doesn't take them too long...

To others that sent in RFEs: When did the the website acknowledge that they received it? Mine's still just mentioning that they mailed it.

I mailed mine in on the 20th of July, and on the 23 received an email that stated it was received, and that they would begin working on my case again. On Aug 7 I got an email with the Approval.. Followed by a notice in the mail. It all went much faster than I expected. I was surprised as all the reading I had done, had me expecting it to take at least 30 days.

  14. Congratulations to you!

I sent back my RFE a couple of days ago, I wish mine is as fast as yours :)

I think your RFE will be quick.. I was doubtul on getting in 10 days, but now that I got it back in about two weeks, I have confidence that you can get back quickly also!! Hope so! :)

    That's awesome! Congratulations!!!

Thank you!! :) The support of this group is so appreciated... to reach out to others going thru the same thing... it touches my heart! (L)

  15. thanks, that makes feel much better. I made my piece with the whole process and trying to be patient. I am still waiting for the RFE in the mail. What was your RFE about if you don't mind me asking? I really don't know what mine could be about

Our form DS-160 was not completed, wanted more pics of me, and more evidence of proof of marriage. This time, I think I went over and above proving we intend to genuinely get married.. but you never know!! =/ It was simple to correct, but would have preferred we had gotten straight out Approval. In my opinion, it was nothing that should have held up Approval. Our background checks had already been complete... but after such a long initial wait, it was kind of good just to hear that someone was actually working the case. I hope to hear back soon, and will advise on exactly how long this takes to get cleared.

    Thanks,

I never thought I'll be able to post this but we just got our approval. Email came at 8:38pm central time. I am still in tears

    Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! :joy::joy::idea::goofy:

  16. so after 240 days I finally received a text regarding my case, I was so excited thinking its an approval, I almost scream at work....to my disappointment, its an RFE!! I am wrecking my brain trying to figure out what they could want! I called and they cannot tell me :( so basically I have to wait about 2 weeks to receive. How long do they take to approve cases after RFE?? I was so careful , I did not expect to get one :crying::cry:

I know your pain. This is the same thing that happened to us.. waited all that time, just to receive an RFE. Not what we were expecting. I will say, from the time I got the text it was only about 4 days later, the actual notice came in the mail. (I do also live in TX, where the notice originated, so maybe that helped time wise.) I sent all the needed info back in within a week or so, and three days later, they messaged me that they received it. It is now only been almost two weeks since then (July 23rd), but I am hoping to get a response back within 30 days. Will keep you posted on how long it actually takes... Everything is "hurry up and wait"!!

  17. Sadly, USCIS doesn't care :(

RFE's in the past have typically taken under a week from electronic notification to receiving the hard copy in the mail. Hopefully it won't take too long for yours to arrive. Is there anything you can think of that they might want? Go through your forms again and see if you can spot anything so you can try to prepare while you wait and get it sent off as soon as possible.

Yeah, planning a wedding is a challenge, to put it mildly. None of my family members were able to attend due to the constant changes right up to the last minute. We had to have our date changed with our venue and the vendors three times!

I went thru the forms and didnt see any thing. but maybe it's something i dont realize. However, as soon as I receive the notice in the mail, I want to work on it immediately. Thanks for your response, and I hate your family was not able to attend. I am afraid that is going to be our situation too. I live in the US but across the country from where I was raised. My family are all in diff states. My family does not live in his home country, where most of his family lives... it may just be the two of us and a judge... This forum really really helps in coping with the situation knowing it's not just us.... Thanks again!

I know how you feel. But atleast someone's working on your case. Look at us here, nothing, nothing at all and I'm days to my 8 months at TSC.

I am so sorry to hear that also. Oh, i know the feeling... it's sad. Maybe you will be fortunate and get an Approval first try! That would be nice for you!! =)

  18. I have not officially received notice yet, but checked my status on USCIS website, and it now has posted that my case has been suspended. No one can tell me why.. I just have to wait for the actual notice to come in. I am in tears... this is the worst ever. I cant believe they think it's okay to "suspend" peoples lives like this... this is real life... real emotions, real feelings... I waiting over 7 months to be told they need more info... and then will not even tell me what is needed... and oh, the notice can take up to two weeks to be received.. and if not, request another by mail... How can you possibly make any wedding plans like this!!!!????????? Does anybody from USCIS see the seriousness in this???? :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
