  1. Just an update. I had my interview last week. They separated us and asked pretty simple questions like name, address, how we met, how's our apartment, what car we drive, how often we see his mom, what are our plans for the future. The officer didn't ask why I got married under the VWP, he didn't even ask if I had any intention to stay, he didn't look at our photo album and he wasn't interested in seeing further proofs of our bonafide marriage. Four hours later I got an email saying that my card was in production.. My I-130 application was approved the following day and according to my Uscis website case status, last Friday the card was mailed to me.

Seems like everything went for the best, I'm glad I can start planning my life again.. :)

  2. I came in as a visa waiver married for 14 years. Ive waited 4 months to have my interview since May 2015. October 5th I had my AOS interview in SF and it went well. She didn't asked why I overstayed. The only questions she asked was when did u get married? What's my Hme address? What's your kids name? (I have 3 daughters with my husband) if I was married before? What was my last entry coming in USA? I said sept 2015, I travel out and came back in with advanced parole. She did not take my i94. She basically asked my husband (US Citizen) the same questions. she gave us a letter saying my case is being held for review. We will find out in 4 weeks or in 3 months. I wasn't nervous.

Well I wish you good luck. Thank you for the details of your interview! Seems like four months is not that unusual.. Let's hope for the best!

  3. Hi,

I would say that you are lucky to have an interview after not even 4 months, it takes normally around 7-9 months. I filed in december and still have no green card... No interview for me though, I am considered as a Interview waiver (married for 4 years now).

However, I think that you will have to prove to the officer that you entered the US with no intentions to marry...as you may know, you can come to the US as a visitor and get married but... you normally have to go back to your country and wait for the application to get complete, interview at the US consulate of your country etc... USCIS may look very carefully at your case as it could appear to them as a visa fraud.

Be prepare to prove that you actually came to the US just for a visit, they can ask you if you quit your job prior to travel (if you had one) etc...

    There is just 1 interview.

Like I said, maybe you are just very lucky to have an interview so soon!

But be prepare just in case you are a red flag for them.

Good luck and let us know how it went. :)

I really had no idea that he was going to propose.. There are thousands of Skype conversation about it, I had a return flight, never quit my job before leaving, and also I was attending my second year of University.. I have documents showing that I paid the taxes for that year. I hope that's enough.

I'm not under the CR1 category since we got married here in the US. We were sure we were doing something legal since I had absolutely no intention of staying.. After he proposed I figured it was better just to stay together.

I'm literally freaking out. Just hope everything goes well.

  4. Good morning everyone! I'm not complaining at all but I find it a little strange.

In came on the Visa waiver program last May (without any intention of getting married), but he proposed, we got married, and we filed for my AOS well aware of all the risks we were taking.

I got my NOA1 in July, and we also got a RFE (on i485). Today I checked my status on Uscis website and they scheduled an interview for November 3. I'm really surprised, we were ready to wait 9-12 months.. and it's not even 4 months that we applied. Is this normal? Could it be something else? Do they usually do more than one interview? Any similar experience?

    Thank you.

  5. How do you know they began working on it again?

They haven't sent me any email, I just checked my case status online. We sent our response August 24 and few days later they changed my status from "Request for Evidence sent" to "Response to USCIS RFE received".. It says that they received my response and they will begin working on my case again. Also they will send me a mail or some kind of notification either if they make a decision or if they need something else from us.

Check your case status on USCIS website!

  6. Welcome Aboard ! Hey There !!

Any news of cooking or gardening ?

not really! I would like to start gardening but in Wisconsin it's cold as hell and I find it hard to grow anything.. <_<

By the way I need to start some kind of hobby while I wait for my case to be processed. I'm getting paranoid!

Wish you the best on your journey.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Thank you guys!!

  7. Very best wishes on your immigration journey, may I ask, what was your RFE about?

thank you! Yes sure! My husband sent his W2 of the past 3 years.. But he forgot to provide a COMPLETE federal income tax return for the most recent year (2014). We're sending a response this weekend!

  8. This needle-phobia must be an Italian thing since I remember having it myself when I was a kid!

Anyway, it really depends on the doctor.. I personally asked the doctor to took the TB blood test in a laboratory, because I really didn't want to do it the "conventional way" since I was worried about how my skin would react to it (and I didn't want to be injected with stuff). I had to pay $100 extra to the laboratory because the doctor I went to doesn't provide that kind of test. The physical exam was pretty quick, but the doctor was very nice and understanding. Me and my fiancee also thought that it would be better for me to go to a woman doctor, but actually it didn't really matter because the medical exam is not too physical.

Just tell her not to worry too much, and good luck!

  9. Hello! I'll briefly introduce myself and share my story!

my name is Veronica and I'm pretty new to this forum.. I decided to join the vj community since I found it incredibly helpful so far.

I met the love of my life in my own country way back in 2009. We separate and we met again after 5 years during a getaway in the U.S. Started a long distance relationship with long lonely nights and really hard work. We visited each other as much as we could.. Unexpectedly he proposed last May, during one of my visits under the vwp (I had absolutely no intention to stay when I arrived). We got married one month after and filed for my AOS..

So now we are patiently waiting, hoping for the best.

    Thanks for reading me, V

  10. The RFE letters don't normally go out on the same day as issued, they are sent U.S. mail. Give it another 5 days, and if still nothing, call back and request to speak to a

    supervisor.

Just be calm and respectful, and you will make your way to a supervisor.

I'm just over-worrying about this whole thing. I got the letter today, and they were asking for something my husband forgot to send with his i-864 form.. -.-

  11. Am I worrying too much? I checked USCIS website last week and I found out they mailed a request for initial evidence (on our i-485 form) on August 13.

But I didn't get any text message, nor e-mails, nor the letter. I'm starting to think that they never sent the letter or just something went wrong..

Do they always send e-mails in these cases?

The "checking mailbox obsession" has started and I'm so frustrated because I know there is a deadline to submit the evidence they want! :clock:

  12. Don't worry. You can send following things and you wouldn't need ssn for that.

    1) Joint Car insurance.

    2) Letter from the landlord or lease showing you are an occupant of the same home your husband lives in.

    3) Health insurance.

    4) Joint bank account, you can open a joint bank account without ssn. You should talk to supervisor or bank manager at the branch.

    5) Send in those boarding passes.

    6) Gym membership or club membership cards.

    Good luck.

Hi, I was in the same situation). Call your husband's accountant and ask them how can you apply for an ITIN number (or you can find it on the IRS website). This is an equivalent of SSN for peope who cant qualify for SSN. Although, it takes almost 4-5 weeks to get one, but after you get it, you can open a joint bank account, file taxes together and apply for joint medical even. That should be enough to present at the interview

You can also wait for your EAD and apply for SSN then, but it will take around 3 months from your NOA1 date

I tried opening a bank account without SSN - everybody declined. Even the bank where my husband had an account for 8smth years. The same thing with Obamacare

Thank you guys for your answers.. We'll try our best! This waiting is a never ending hell.

  13. It's the first time I post something so I apologize in advance if I'm not doing it the right way.

    Hi everyone!

I'm from Italy and I met my (American) husband last year.. We started a long distance relationship but we visited each other every couple of months. I was supposed just to come and visit again in May, but he surprised me and proposed.. So I never left and we decided to get married right away last month (I had my return flight tickets by the way). We applied for my AOS exactly one month ago, and we received NOA1 after 2 weeks.

Now, they are asking for more evidence about our relationship. The problem is that since I'm from the European Union, I came on the Visa Waiver Program, so I don't have a Social Security number and it's impossible for him to open a joint bank account or even put me on the lease agreement.

    We sent evidence such as:
    -a selection of pictures together

-a piece of mail that my mom sent to me at our address

-an affidavit of support letter from a friend of us (notarized)

-papers showing that he put me on his insurance plan

-a letter explaining why we don't have any joint financial account

We still have some boarding passes of our travels together and some of our visits but I'm sure it's not enough. What else can we send? Any similar experience? I'm so worried and I find it hard to stay positive. :(

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, V
