If you are traveling the same day they will give it to you, get there early. It would take 3 hours to get your passport. My friend got there at 6:00am but because he was traveling the same he got his passport at 10am, in my case I wasn't traveling the same so they will ask you to wait until 3pm on thesame day to pick up or come back the next day. Again if you are travelling the same day they will give it to you right away.there us a line for people travelling the same day. They don't ask about abut the traveling reasons only for the itinerary.

@Lily81 did they at anytime ask you the purpose of your trip? Or they just looked at the itinary and that was it? I'm taking my father on Monday morning. And we leave Wednessay night hopefully they give him the same day!

Hope this helps, got my naturalization last week in Brooklyn and went to get my passport to the agency, they will look at itinerary, naturalization, form, pictures and will ask you to wait. I got there at 7:30 which was a big no, no! Be there at 5am and u will be telling a great story, in my case I had to wait 6 hours.....no food allowed in the building. It's boring and if you can apply at the post office it's so much easier(did it for my son and was in and out). Anyway if u are traveling the same day they will ask you to get in one line that goes way faster than the one I was in.

Anyway, other 200 people knows about this same passport agency and they will be there on the same day, so take my advice and get up early, print out everything, get ready to pay $195 and u will be fine. Good luck!

Did anyone apply for a US passport at the Passport Agency in Manhattan the same day of their oath ceremony or next day? I tried to make an appointment but the next available appointment is the same day I'm traveling. I made my travel plans back in April thinking I would have citizenship by at least mid May ( I have friends that had their citizenship applications take a total of 4 months).

My oath ceremony is July 7th and I'm traveling on July 14th. The reviews online for walk-ins at the agency all seem to get their passports same day or next day. I plan to get on line at the passport agency by 6am on the 8th. I literally have 4 business days to get this passport.

today i got an update on my file, it says We scheduled your oath ceremony

now i need to wait for the letter to know the date

Don't be worried @Lily81. It will come soon. My interview was the same date and place as yours. I went in line and got scheduled on Monday. I got the letter Thursday. Oath ceremony is June 26th. It will come soon. Congratulations!

Hello, Congrats to all applicants in New York, it seems like the process is very quick.

In my case, I'm a little concern because I had my interview on 5/21 at Federal Plaza and passed the interview. The officer told me that my ceremony was going to be either on June 5 or 12 and so far I have no letter or change of status. I called the main line because I have an incoming trip in mid July but they told me that I have to wait 120 days. I'm debating if I should apply for a visa for my mid July trip in case I don't get the letter on time, any advice?
