We are in a similar situation. I also submitted my I-612 in the first week of April and since then, nothing! I even checked the processing times for I-612 in the hardship/persecution category at the California Service Center, and it now is not listed anymore whereas it used to say 4 months. So I think they are experiencing delays.

As for your second question, a pending J1 waiver does not give you legal status, it is not a visa in and of its own. Unless you have applied for something else, I think you lawyer is wrong.

We see the same test under next steps as well.. Our case status was not working earlier as well.. I guess its one of those standard templates on website.

Hi all,

For the past two months, i have not been able to check my I612 case status online, always getting the dreaded "validation error" message.

Now, after the website maintenance, I am finally able to get "Case was received." Under next steps, it says: "We will review your request for a data change. If needed, we will make the change." I am not sure what this means, as I do not remember submitting a "data change.'

Has anyone seen this message before? What could this be?
