Hi, i ve been in the US since august 2015 and i still havent received the green card.

I called uscis several times, and the people working there are probably some of the worst (from hunging up phone to all kind of lies) - they gave me no real information and no updates on the production of my green card.

Here i am 11 months later and still havent received it, asking if theres anyone in my situation or if you were - how did you solve the situation.

OP, Did you ever get this resolved?  I am in the same situation - the whole process was smooth sailing, my husband's POE was July 2016 (fee paid Feb 2016), and it is now May 2017 and no plastic green card.  We have called repeatedly (the last time escalating it) and had TWO infopass appointments.  At the last one, she put a stamp in his passport extending the visa by 9 months.  I am convinced they've lost our file, and I'm not sure what action to take next.

  2. My husband's POE was July 7, 2016 at SFO. 106 days later, we haven't received his plastic green card. He received his Social Security card a few weeks after arriving. I've called USCIS a few times to check on the status, and they give me the same story every time - that I need to wait 120 days.

In the meantime, my status on the USCIS site changed to: "On August 12, 2016, the Department of State sent us your case, Receipt Number XYZ123456789, for review. We are reviewing it, and will notify you by mail when we are done." When I ask the USCIS reps about this, they have no explanation. This combined with not receiving the actual green card worries me. Digging around on this site, it seems like this may be nothing, but I'd feel better if we had the actual plastic green card in hand.

  3. Thought I'd post some info here since people have emailed me about it and I'd had the same question myself (it's deep in Step 9 of the NVC process wiki but easy to miss) :)

Question : What does it mean when people refer to seeing 3 N/As?

    Answer :

After you send your AOS/IV documents to the NVC and complete your IV application online, log on to https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx daily. You will normally see two N/As on the screen in the fields for AOS Documents & Financial Support and for Civil Documents. If you log in one day and you see three N/As (the third one will replace Paid in the AOS Fee section), that should mean your case is complete! That's why people get so excited when they see that third N/A. Definitely call the NVC to confirm this information.

Hope this helps! Good luck everyone!

  4. Hi guys, my file is at NVC now, so I'm moving to that forum, but I wanted to give you guys a tip based on something I learned that might have cost me a few weeks of wasted time.

When your case gets sent to the NVC, follow up with them 2-3 weeks afterward to get your case number and IIN. With those, you can go online to https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ and fill out your DS261 (choice of agent) online and pay your Affidavit of Support (AOS) fee. You can fill out your AOS offline.

All instructions say to pay your IV (Immigrant Visa application) fee too and fill that form out online and send in all supporting documents together. However, the problem for me was that the IV fee never showed up as payable online, and the online IV application isn't accessible until you pay the IV fee. So what I've learned is this: Once you've paid the AOS fee and filled out the DS-261 form (choice of agent), start calling the NVC to have them review it with you (they just confirm the names and contact info). This will trigger the next step. The IV fee will soon show up as payable, and once you pay it and that payment clears, the IV application (DS-260) will become accessible to fill out online.

But I also learned that you can actually send in the AOS and its supporting documents as well as the supporting documents for the DS-260 (online IV application) while you're waiting for the IV application to be accessible online.

Basically, I thought the system would work on its own, but I realized that there are critical points where you need to call the NVC to make things happen. I hope this helps someone!

  5. No, USCIS, we are alive!

People who already have NOA 2, I have a question. USCIS site says our petition was aprroved on 18th of August but we still haven`t got email or hardcopy of NOA 2 - is that ok? Should it get changed on USCIS site when they send me case to NVC (something like "we sent you case to NVC, bla, bla")?

No, I'm pretty sure the message on the USCIS site never changes after that - mine still says the same thing. Your next step is to call the NVC in a couple of weeks to get your case # and IIN so you can start filling out forms online.

  6. I called the NVC this morning right when they opened. I don't recommend doing that. I got the same message, essentially "All agents are busy, Call Back Later" 14 times, then gave up. I tried again 30 minutes later and received the "normal" message. I waited on hold for 40 minutes before they picked up, despite them saying the wait time was 20 minutes. Got my case number and IIN, filled in the online DS-261 (Choice of Agent) and paid the $120 fee. Slowly but surely...

  7. I called the NVC today. I thought I was going crazy, because sometimes the message said all operators were busy and "Call Back Later" and eventually it hung up on me, and other times it gave me the option to choose 1 for English. So pay attention and keep calling back! My estimated hold time was 20 minutes. I got bored, walked into the kitchen with the phone, opened the freezer and a bag of ice fell out that I couldn't fit back in, and that's exactly when they answered... So that's the trick to getting them to pick up - put yourself in a very awkward situation ;)

She said they received my package July 28 but there's no case number yet, and that it could take 35 days (I hope not!). I think I'll call back next week.

  8. It might be helpful to look at actual data - here's the link for anyone who hasn't seen this chart yet. You can search for users by service center (and/or country etc) to see when they submitted they received their NOA1 and NOA2 (use the little arrows at the top to sort by NOA2 date). It looks like most of the mid-July approvals in Nebraska have NOA1 dates in February (thus 5 months).

Btw, these charts use OUR data, so make sure to update your timelines for the people that come after us!

  9. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

    h!!!!!!!

we have been approved ...... my husband and me are very happy..... we must expect the paper NOA2 ..... what will be the next step? We will now do something or just wait a mail?

We wish others approval this week

Us too!!! Do you think they did our France approvals on the 14th of July on purpose? :)

I guess now we wait for news from the Dept of State and if not, I'll call them in 2 weeks to confirm they got the file? Does anyone know if they'll continue to contact us via email or if we'll receive snail mail (I hope not!)?

  10. If California is so ahead on processing, why aren't they transferring applications from Nebraska and TX to CA? Since those apparently seem to be the two slowest or backuped centers. It just makes no sense to have all these people wait like crazy when that would cut wait time for NOA2 in literally half..

I'm not sure if I read this somewhere or just hypothesized it, but I thought that the reason CA is so fast is that the cases aren't distributed randomly, and that CA was routed cases that satisfy certain criteria or for some reason are fast-tracked. Like people filing from abroad, maybe certain countries? For instance I know of two other couples who are married and filing from France, and we all got routed to CA.

I looked at this chart and saw IR1/CR1 couples from France are being routed to NE and CA, but I have a feeling the ones going to Nebraska have one person already in the US. Just a theory, I could be totally wrong.

Hey CA, please give me a NOA2 for July 4th!

  11. I'm anxiously checking this board to see when the first June couple receives their NOA2. If I look at the following chart, it looks like recently people routed to the California Service Center have heard back sometimes in as little as 3 weeks! I hope I'm not jinxing myself...

  12. Ooh thank you.....Sega10028.....si je comprend il fait forcement ecrire en anglais??

vous en etes ou vous ?

Yes, the people in this forum come from around the world and the only thing we have in common is our desire to move to the US, so English is the language here. Maybe it's a good idea for your husband to read here since he's American?

I can understand the message from Kimbo, but I don't know the answzer, so I'll try to translate for her and see if one of you can respond in English (and I can translate back)

Her message "We started the process for a CR1... my husband is american and sent it june 2 without the G1145. Do you know how we can know where it is? The check for $420 was cashed 8 days ago. Besides that, we've received nothing. Do you have any advice? We are married and have a son with his CRBA. We're hoping to spend Christmas and the new year together."

  14. After 2 weeks of nailbiting, I am officially in the June group! Based on my own bad shipping choice, it took 10 days for my package to reach Chicago. I've been assigned to the California Service Center.

For anyone in France, my friend pointed me to a site called www.envoimoinscher.com/ that gives you discounted rates on shipping services like Chronopost and FedEx. For example, a 500g letter from Paris to Chicago costs 22€ via Chronopost (2 days) and 29€ via FedEx (1 day!). I just used them to mail my taxes.

  15. Yay another from France!

Did you send it Chronopost? Or any other suivi/AR? If so, did you check online to see if it got delivered?

Hi! This is why I need to leave France :) My husband was like "Did you send it by Chronopost?" and I said "Yes, La Poste is Chronopost, right?"... Turns out I sent it by Lettre Suivie Internationale. My sense is it is tracked until it reaches the US (which it did June 5) but not afterward since I've received no update since then. My check hasn't been cashed yet. Since this package doesn't contain any irreplaceable documents, I'm not that worried, just excited for it to arrive so my official wait can begin.

Just curious - how much did Chronopost cost you? The Lettre Suivie Internationale was 10€. The online calculator for Chronopost says 90€, but I'm not sure if that's accurate. I'm thinking ahead to what I'll use the next time we're sending documents.

    Thanks!
