  1. to those who missed it------------------- i was venting, with the hope it would ,as others pointed out, show others check.check.check.then throw it into the wind and hope.

with regards to the cost, it's a mere drop in the bucket..this is a case of my giving back government gained money back to them.

i lamely tried to make some humour about the postal service.

what DID really irritate me was the loss/lack of any discretionary ability that our governmental entities have.

please --no lectures on how it makes OUR system of government the best.

    rules vs. guidelines

if discretion was not such a prized attribute we wouldn't be coached to use it all the time!

    they had checked the paperwork..

they have just compounded the amount of time they need to spend on this case. a case of self sustaining employment?

what it boils down to is, i am sick of being 'taught ' that those in government positions know what is best for me and that they will continue to bla bla bla-------- NOW I'M RANTING sorry

i my own way i guess i'll just muddle thru.

my apologies to those who i made waste their time correcting me---------- duh . i didn't say THEY were wrong in what they did according to the rules. i say they should have had the room to exercise some discretion.

    thanks to all

GOD BLESS AMERICA as i couldn't live anywhere else !!!

  2. i am a 52 yr.old, natural born, english/american speaking US citizen.

this stated, i still have trouble understanding governmentese.

i prepared my wife's I-751 and sent it to the processing center in Vermont as stated within 90 days. cost of mailing, $5.80.

to me that would mean ,get it to them when you get close to the 90 day mark.

i think this because i hear about all of the concern about not getting it to them soon enough or just to close to the deadline.

well in the wisdom of our paperpushers, our packet was opened - cover letter removed - gone through- stamped- front of my envelope cut off and include, and RETURNED to me. cost of mailing $1.68.

REASON BEING-- the had received it 92 days prior to Ruby's anniversary date. i actual had mailed it the same day i recieved their letter telling us that we need to be aware that this paperwork was coming due.

THEIR meaning of 'within 90 days', means 90, 89, 88, 87---------3,-2, 1 days, prior to the anniversary date.

now i need to redo cover letter and resend [ at additional cost ]

make note it was NOT rejected, it was just returned.

i even called them to verify that.

maybe this is to help keep the postal services afloat. lol.

thanks for the chance to vent------- i hope this might in someway help clarify this for others

You should never mail it before the 90 day window opens. Better to wait until after the 90th day and then mail. The instructions clearly say it will not be accepted early.

Sorry you wasted the cost of mailing.

hey , i guess i should have counted the calender better.

who really expects the post office to be that efficient/quick?

  4. first off-- i apologize for not knowing where to correctly post this.

ruby and i are in the process of filing our I--751.

at the same time we are filing an AMENDMENT TO PASSPORT, with the Philippines Consulate ,because of her name change through marriage.

in doing so we have come upon even more paper work that seems to need to be filed with the Philippines Consulate. they are - REPORT OF MARRIAGE ABROAD, REPORT OF BIRTH, for our daughter born here in US. can any one share with me any info , such as how crucial these are ?

    thanks for any input

    dounan /ruby morton

    happy in ma.

  5. is there somewhere i can see or download an example of a typical cover letter for AOS of K1 visa?

like everyone else here i want to "do it right", so that there is less cause for a problem or holdup.

    thanks , douie

First off, you are posting in the AOS forum, NOT K1. Secondly, your timeline says you appplied for K3.

    :guides:

Ok, way back when i first started i put in K3 -by mistake. i never thought i would be reminded of that unclarified error, ever time i posted. i have already actually gone through the whole K1 process and am now married, happily so.

i'm sorry " for AOS of K1 visa" wasn't clear enough .i thought that by putting it in the AOS section , it would be evident what i was seeking. i was mistaken . i suppose if i had kept a timeline it would have been helpful to others that were seeking to help me.

thanks to all who might respond - i have found what i need.

my bride Ruby will be updating our info soon.

  6. You do not have to file an I-130. And you will only need the I-693A (vaccination supplemental) transcribed by a civil surgeon from the DS-3025 you received at the medical overseas (or some other vaccination record), not the full I-693 since presumably your wife's medical is less than a year old.

Here is a good place to start: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1k3aos

The guide outlines the process for adjusting status from K1 to a permanent resident.

thanks , i've been using visa journey all along-- however i sometimes "over engineer " things . triple checking. and then when the 'authorities ' just confuse things- by not really knowing the actual process.

well we're off to be transcribed

    thanks again

and thank you devilette, for confirming there is someone like you on every bb

  10. My fiancee is going for her medical at St. Lukes next week (sept 31-june 1) and staying in manila with relatives until her interview on Sept. 8. Just wondering if anyone else has the same medical/interview dates that care to hang out while waiting in line. Having someone to talk to helps time go quicker.

Also, if everything goes right, I expect to be flying there to fetch her around the 23rd of Sept. Anyone else headed that way around then?
