We currently have his Green card and are doing the 2 year wait until we can do the next step. We have moved and i'm wondering if we have to report that to anyone? And if so who?
Also, when he got his green card he got a thing saying "welcome to the country you can now be drafted" and we have to mail that back, what happens if we don't?
Yes, you need to contact DHS with your new address within 10 days of each time you move.
Males between 18 and 26 yrs of age must register with the Selective Service.
What is DHS? And what happens if its been over 10 days. Its been a few months I just didn't think about it until now.

My husband didn't apply for his SSN until after we were married and got his green card. Took about 2 weeks and now he has one

We used the new form as well.
We used the new form as well.

Congratulations, you're very lucky. Unfortunately, what you've said isn't exactly true. Canadians are not allowed to enter the U.S. with the intent to stay, if they happen to change their minds while they are down, that's a totally different thing. My Canadian husband was denied entry in September 05, and we have been living apart since.
But truly, Congratulations, I'm very glad it all worked out for you
Oh i didn't know. I guess we did things a weird way then haha. At least it all worked out thats all we wanted

We went in for our interview yesterday after deciding to get married here in the states and cancelling our K1 that was taking forever so he wouldn't have to leave, and we are already approved!!! We will be getting the green card in 4-7 days!!! YAY!!!
For those of you wanting to keep your loved one around it goes to show you can go through this process without having to ever leave eachothers side
...at least if your Canadian..I dunno if it works the same with other countries.
BUT YAY!!!

haha i'm an idiot its for the form 1-485.....sorry about that!!!! But still any info on what to expect would be awesome

We have our invterview for the I-130 tomorrow in Seattle and I just realized we didn't make copies of the paper work we sent in!!! Should I re-fill out the forms and bring them in? What should I expect at this interview. Any advice would really help!
Also, It says i'm doing a K1 but I am doing a K3...I just don't know how to change it.
You have a joint interview for an I-130? Do tell!
Can't tell you what to expect--what kind of interview is this?
A joint interview? You mean us together?? My husband is here in the country with me, he has not left so the interview is here in Seattle.
Is that what you meant?

I'm a little confused because your profile says that you are a "K-1", then your question says you are a "K-3", and then you say "your first interview for the K-3 visa process".
I am actually going to the Seattle office tomorrow for my Biometrics for my Removal of Conditions application. I have been to the Seattle office several times (both for myself and for my daughter) and they are very professional, it's a brand new nice building, but I have found the wait times to be a little long.
Good luck.
We were originally filing for K1...i forgot to change that we switched to K3. We've been into the Seattle office twice for his biometrics, i agree that the wait times are way to long!!
-
We have our first interview for the K-3 visa process today. We've already gone through biometrics and all that.
Is this the interview where we might get the green card??? Can anyone tell me what to expect at this interview, and if anyones gone through the Seattle branch please let us know how they are there.
Thank you so much!

We are going for our biometrics appt on Monday, do we only need our Marriage Certificate, his passport, and the letter saying we have the appt?
What do we need to expect at this appt? Does this mean were approved pending the results of the appt?!

We can file the K3 with him here in the country, we just don't file it with the I-129f we file it with something else i can't remember the name of the form she gave us.
Hes here legally, he can be here for up to 6 months and until september 11th (bad date i know) it wont be 6 months, so we were told as long as hes out of here or were married before then we can do this k3 and he wont have to leave at all were just going to adjust his status.
I called her this morning to double check that I understood everything correctly and am just waiting for her to call back.
-
until i can talk to her tomorrow i dont know!! i cant even sleep now

I know i'm freaking out a bit now.
I'm being told to do the k3 which i'd like to do because then he wouldnt have to leave...but now that i'm approved for the k1 i'm wondering if i should stick to it, but then he would have to leave and possibly get this ban! And i have no idea how long it takes after this approval for the rest of the k1 to process so who knows how long he'd be gone...blah And basically we have less than a month to figure it out because he has to do something before the 6 months is up.
I'm already a paranoid person but this is really getting to me and i feel like i'm going to freak out...blah
-
We were told because hes been here for so long (almost 6 months) that if he left the country he would be denied entry even with the K1 and possible banned for up to 10 years, so we are going to apply for the K3 and just get married before his 6 months are up and adjust his status.
It doesnt make alot of sense to me either but this is what we were advised to do by the immigrations people.
We were looking into the K3 anyway because we thought the K1 was going to take forever, which is why we went to her in the first place, and it ended up being what she wanted us to do.
And no I never got an e-mail and the website didn't update that we were approved or even touched until today, but the approval date was the 1st of the month.
-
So today we went and sat down with the Congressman and his Immigrations Person (Norm Dicks is a family friend), and we were told to cancel our K-1 and apply for the K-3 because of our situation.
So after spending a few hours together coming up with all the paper work needed to apply for the K-3, we come home to find in the mail our K-1 approval letter!! How ironic is that hahahaha.
But anyway, We were approved, even though were changing Visa's I thought I would share so people know that CSC is still passing out Approvals!
-
Can I just ask why you thought you'd be approved A MONTH after you submitted your K1???
They take anywhere from 5-7 months, more with IMBRA now.
Also, even if you got married, you couldn't file the K-3 & have him stay here.
We didnt know about the new law until 2 days after we filed, we thought the whole thing only took about 4 months so we thought that at most he'd be gone a month.
We were also under the impression if we did the K3 he could stay in the country, is this not true?

Hi there! Currently I have filed for the K-1 visa and like most people are still waiting for an approval. We were hoping to have it by the time my son was born but this hasn't happened.
My fiance has been in the country almost 6 months and will have to leave soon and won't be able to come visit me and the baby. We are thinking of filing for the K-3 and getting married so he doesn't have to leave me and the baby.
We really could use some advice on how to go about this, or if anyone else has cancelled a K-1 and wen't for a k-3 how they did this and how the process went for them.
Any advice is welcomed, we both want nothing but to keep our family together.

I know the feeling. I hate being an impatient person!!!
-
Once your signif other into the country, are the able to get a job once they get the SSC, or how long does it take before they can get a job??

-
