Hi...
My fiancé and I have watched this thread like hawks but not contributed yet, and I feel like it's time. Here's the story:
Met in China while I was on work assignment in Shanghai from 2014 to Feb 2015. We lived together during most of this time. She's Russian, I'm American.
We filed for the K1 with an NOA1 of 12/29/14. We twice tried to have to expedited on the basis of financial hardship and were rejected. Finally, I personally went to my US Senator's office and had one of the aids take my case. She said that they aren't expediting except for "emotional reasons" (you'd think they'd put this online, but you'd be wrong). Anyway, my fiancé has been living alone in China since I left, and her visa there expires in July, which would cause her to have to go back to Russia to renew her Chinese visa and them go BACK to China for the interview in Guangzhou (I won't go into the long story now).
The senator's office straightened Texas out really quick and we got approved. I'm not sure how unique our situation is vs others, but I hope that maybe this is helpful. I know the frustration of being stuck day after day and the bitterness it causes. My only tip is that you just have to keep fighting, and take a step everyday to make your voice heard, whether it's calling them or going to a 3rd party.

As someone who was expedited, I can tell you that they do NOT expedite for financial hardship, regardless of what their site says. My US Senator confirmed this. The only way I was able to be expedited was to explain the unique situation of my case to the senator's office and have them work directly with the USCIS.
