I'm a K1 visa holder. We got married and now we're now going to apply for my adjustment of status. I have the following doubts about the forms:
1. G-325A - does my wife (US citizen) need to fill it out too? Or just me?
2. I-864 - can my wife include child support in her "individual annual income" (p. 5, part 6, n.2)? I'm assuming a minor can't be lisyed in "income you're using from any oyher person..."

[gasp] I didn't know we had POE reviews here. Thanks, p-ana!
Check your intended POE reviews here on vj. I arrived in Miami and 4h was almost not long enough

Thanks, Ben&Zian! It can really take you a while, apparently.
Yea 3-4, leaning more towards 4 should be fine.
As stated also depends on the airport, time of day, how full your flight is even.
Took my partner a little over 2 hours in Dallas to get off the plane and through immigrations and get his luggage. He was literally last 2-3 people through immigrations when he finally exited the terminal.

Thanks, A'n'L!
Depends on the airport and arrival time. Activating the visa usually doesn't take much time, but you still have to wait in line/re-check bags/go through security. 3-4 hours should be ok, but I wouldn't recommend any shorter layover.

Obrigado! -
How long does it usually take to go through immigration at US airports with a K1 visa?
I'm about to buy my ticket now and wondering if a 3-4 hour layover be fine and too risky.

So I've had some trouble getting my employer to write a letter of employment verification. They told me it has to be a physical paper form that I bring for them to fill out from the requesting entity, the only thing I've found close to their criteria is the I-9 form but I'm just not sure it applies to this situation. Has Anyone else had this difficulty? Would it be adequate for me to just submit copies of past W-2 and pay stubs with my affidavit of support?
Thanks!

Que bom! Thanks, fmirandam!

Has anyone had a co-sponsor for the K1 Visa? Is the US Consulate in Rio de Janeiro cool about co-sponsors?

Thanks, mollenne and Ebunoluwa!

My US fiancée is working on the I-134 form and supporting documents. She got a statement from the bank, where they they put her 12 month average balance. I wonder if that's ok or she actually needs them to state her yearly total. What do you guys think?

Just write a new check and sent the whole package back with the letter they sent you on top. Be sure you re-check all over again for signatures and dates are all filled. Good luck.
I have a friend who had his petition returned for not having the check signed and he sent back the same package with the letter.
Thanks! Do you think it's ok to include add a new cover letter?
-
We got our whole I-129F package sent us back. The reason was that the date on the check looked more like 2015 than 2016!
Every form and letter came back with a number stamped on the bottom. The cover letter was the only item that not returned. We'd like to confirm if we are doing the right things:
- We're going to write a new check and send the whole thing back (without rewriting any form or letter).
- We're going to write a new cover letter.
Thanks!

Thanks for your input!
Boa sorte! -
People in Brazil and many other places in Latin America have very long names (for American standards). In my Brazilian passport, my maternal and paternal family names are listed as one surname, while my first and "middle" name are listed as given names.
For the I-129F and G-325A I intend to follow that, writing the two last names as one, since my passport says so.
My doubt is about my two given names as my first name. Should I group them into one as in my passport [1], or break the two into first and middle name [2]?
What do you think or have done in a similar case?
1. Given name (first name): Antonio Jose
OR
2. Given name (first name): Antonio
Middle name: Jose

- When listing the applicant's employment, are we supposed to translate a company/institution name into English? I work for a government agency in Brazil and I was wondering if I should include a translation of the agency's name. What do you think?
- There isn't enough space for me to write the state where I live ("Rio Grande do Sul"). Should I use an abbreviation ("RS")? I thought that to attach a sheet for that would be weird.
-
I'm having the same doubt about the address!
I think I'll just have to repeat one of the adresses listed below where I have lived for more than a year. -

Thank you guys! I'm glad I asked!

Olá! Vou viajar ao Brasil pela primeira vez em seis anos e vou alugar um carro.
Eu tenho a minha driver's license e fiz o tal Inter-American Driving Permit, um documento que é aceito no Brasil e no Uruguai. Posso antecipar algum problema caso, por exemplo, eu for parado numa blitz? Alguém teve recentemente uma experiência nesse sentido?
