  1. Dont buy any tickets before your issued your visa. The consulate says this straight up in packet 3. Not to mention its not possible to get a one way ticket with out a visa. Thats the way it works in Australia anyway. If your trying to show them you have proof of going or anything along those lines, just go to a travel agent and get an itinery printed up for a quoted flight. Thats all I did . They didnt even ask for it in the end.

  2. No. All checks on the American citizen have already been conducted by the time of the Interview. The fiance only needs to take in his passport so the visa can stamped in it. All original documents supplied in the original petition are already sent to the consualte before the interview takes place. They dont need to have proof of your US fiance citizenship . Those checks will be complete before the interview is scheduled. I just went through all this, and emailed the consulate a billion times with the exact same questions I see on here. Hope this helped.

  3. The forms they give you in packet 3 are not to be submitted until the visa interview at the american consulate. Fill in and return by mail form ds-230 part 1 to the consulate immediately. Once you have done that start gathering the required documents. Follow the medical instructions sent to you in packet 3 carefully. Fill in the forms but do not sign , DS-156 ( 2 copies) and the form DS-156K. Follow the photograph requirements carefully also. Also get the us citizen to fill in the I-134 Alfadavit of Support form ( notarized from her/his bank) with a copy of there income tax for the last year and a letter from there employer stating that they work there, there income, and how long they have worked there for. You should get the police clearance now. as once you have the forms filled in, medical completed , the alfadavit form from your fiance, and the police certificate, you will then need to mail in the form to the consulate stating you have all the required information and that your ready to be interviewed. After you send in that single sheet of paper they will send you packet 4. This is basically the interview date and the strict order they want the gathered paper work in before attending the interview. Gather alot of proof of your relationship. photographs, phone bills, emails, letters from the person who is marrying you, and all other kinds of information linking you together.

    Hope this info helps

  4. Hey Chrystal,

Sorry to hear about your loss. Long distance relationships can be extremely hard. I am now in a 2 year long distance relationship, we haven't even seen each other once besides the internet. As for your visa. I cant say for sure, but I couldn't see them stopping anything, You are human. People do break up and make up. And long distance is a real nasty thing to be involved in. I'm sure if you would file the petition again you would be fine. As for it being quicker, I highly doubt it. It probably would be seen as a new one and the wait is on again. If you have the money, and are serious about him completely. You could wait there under the visa waiver program. Just show them stacks of evidence you have strong ties to your country and do intend on returning. Good luck.

  5. Yes there the only forms you need to get the ball rolling mate. You will then be contacted by mail with a petition number. They may ask for more proof of a relationship at that stage( photos together), Like they did we me, or you may get lucky and they will contact you in about 3 weeks saying your petition has been approved. They actually emailed me this information. If its approved the packet 3 forms( instructions on police certificates, medical and other immigration stuff) will be sent to the us consulate in the home country of the fiance. Once the fiance has all the stuff required , he will send in a form saying im ready to be interviewed. The consulate will send him a date and time. And thats all there is to it.
