  1. Good evening,

Last Tuesday, June 30th my fiancé and I went together to the K-1 interview at the US Embassy in Caracas and they finally approved her visa! We couldn't be happier! I still have a few questions and would really appreciate your advise:

    1) I currently live in Florida and my fiancé will be traveling to the US in approximately 2 months. The address that I put in the visa application was my address here in Florida. I am currently applying for jobs outside Florida (I already got an offer) and wanted to know if we could marry in a different state.

    2) How long will it take us to get married? what are the requirements and paperwork that we need to submit?

    3) When will my fiancé be able to apply for her social security?

    4) When would my fiancé be able to apply for the adjustment of status for the Green Card?

    Thank you for your advise!

  2. Hi! Thanks a lot for all your responses! I am not so stressed out now. My biggest concern is whether or not the Embassy would consider as misrepresentation the fact that she stated on her tourist visa application that we were only friends (we obviously already knew at that moment that we were going to get married).

The other question that I forgot to ask was how long does this interview usually take? I will be returning to the US on the same day of the interview at 5:00pm and will need to head back to the airport at around 1:00pm. I can arrive at the US embassy at 7:00am or even earlier.

    Thank you!!!

  3. Good evening,

I submitted our case to the USCIS Texas Service Center on September 23, 2014. The USCIS approved the petition for the K1 visa on April 15. The petition was processed by the NVC and we just recently received a notification from the US Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela stating our interview will be held on June 30 at the US Embassy.

We both are very nervous right now as we don't know what to expect from the interview. Moreover, we only have been able to see each other for 9 days during the past 14 months and we really miss each other. I really think we couldn't stand a rejection of her visa. To try to avoid this, I took 2 days off work and bought a plane ticket to Caracas so that I can attend to the interview with her.

Here is what is really bothering me: About 10 months ago she applied for a tourist visa to come to the US. I told her to apply for one, because I though that if she came as a tourist we could probably spend some time together, I would propose her and then it would be much easier and quicker for us to apply for a Fiance Visa once she arrived here. On the application for the tourist visa they asked her if she knew anybody in the US. Her response was "yes" and she gave my name. However, when they asked her what was her relationship with me, she answered "friend". At that moment we were technically not engaged since I didn't formally proposed her.

In December 2014 I went with her and my family to Spain on vacation and I formally proposed her (after applying for the Fiance Visa on September 23rd).

My main concern is: Will the interviewer reject her visa for saying that we were "friends" at the moment she applied for a tourist visa? Also, will the interviewer question the fact that I formally proposed her in December 2014, 3 months after I submitted the petition for her visa?

Can anybody recommend me what to do in this situation? Am I worrying too much?

I would really appreciate any advise you can give me.

    Thank you!!
