Then if you still have that spouse or have a new spouse , you have a path to a green card. Otherwise you are like any other non US person visiting the US.

Does anyone know if Hong Kong provides DCF services if you are a USC living and working there?

Your path to another green card is dependent on hat paths you qualify for, family, work, dv lottery ? Having had one in the past in no way gives you a shortcut to a future green card. Visiting visas are for visiting and do not open the door to green cards except to the thousands that abuse them to shortcut the process.

I also read that if your green card is expired but it's a 10 year one that you can still use it for traveling. I guess the issue there is potential airline issues at check in.

Also does anyone know if there exist a visa i can sign up for that allows one to travel to us for short periods like on holidays and vacations to the us and that also allows for status adjustment to resident sometime in the future? Does such a thing exist? That way if I abandon the green card I can try to roll into something that allows travel and the optionality to move back if things turn that way. It is just hard to forecast the future.

Not all European Countries are eligible for the VWP.

Those that are need to complete ESTA and see.

If you do not have any issues including an overstay then you should be good to go.

Sorry, I guess I should have specified that my country is part of the vwp and yes no overstays. I had read somewhere that post abandoning green card one may not be eligible for the vwp any longer.

Title kinda says it all. Can a European passport holder who abandoned his GC because he lives outside the US travel back to the US for a couple of weeks (with return plane ticket) using VWP? I can not find this information online...

My spouse is abandoning the green card as we do not live in US anymore and have not signed up for re-entry permit. Have been married for a long time and are trying to figure out best options to be able to go back for small periods of time for family holidays etc. It doesn't appear Hong Kong has DCF service or am I wrong? How long would it take for spouse to get a US visa? Is VWP an option since spouse is european?
