Thank you for your suggestion, but, unfortunately, we live in Italy, and the "local office" is in Los Angeles. Only when we arrive in L.A. could we do that, and by then it would already be time for the appointment (end of June), the reason for taking this trip in the first place.

First of all, as a new member to the forum, I would like to say hello to everyone.
Hopefully, someone will be able to help us out. This type of application is a little different than the usual.
We are requesting American citizenship for my two granddaughters, ages 7 and 9, through me, their American citizen grandparent, born in the States and a resident there for 22 years. Their father, also an American citizen, was born abroad and has never lived in the USA. That is why he cannot make this request himself. This application is not for immigration purposes in our case, as all involved will continue living in Europe.
All due documentation was sent in February, and received at the Phoenix Immigration Services Headquarters on the 25th of that month. Subsequently, it was received by our local office, in Los Angeles, on March 17th. Since then, we have had no further news.
In the application form, there was a section in which we had to request a date and place for the finalizing interviews on American soil. That date had to be no sooner than 90 days from when we sent the application. The date we put was at the end of June, approximately 120 days from when the application was mailed – by necessity, at a time when the girls were out of school.
This requirement for interviews meant that all of us had to plan a trip together to the USA from Europe, coinciding at that exact time, which we did. Unfortunately, as mentioned, we still do not know if the applications will be accepted and the interviews done, since we have not heard anything yet from Immigration Services.
I have called the 1-800 number, and all they do is read the same thing we all can see on the Immigration Services website: the applications were received at our local offices on March 17th. Does anyone know if there is a way I can contact someone at those offices, or elsewhere, to find out anything more?
Thank you all for hearing me out!

Thank you for your help.
We had contacted them previously by phone in order to know where to send the applications in the States. We will try phoning them again to see if a personal appointment would be opportune in order to obtain further information.
