  1. I tweeted yesterday the us consulate in Montreal because I still did not hear from them since they received my case on April 5th and got a boring answer like please be patient blablabla and the us fiance of my friend here in Montreal did the same thing and he got a different answer and her case moved forward and she received her packet 3 right away. I am so pissed right now, I hate injustice/discrimination especially that our case was in the same stage and we're both french living in Canada.

Sorry, how is there discrimination involved? I get it that it sucks waiting, but some people's files move faster than others.

Also from what I read on here that as of April , the Montreal office is now taking on cases which used to be handled in Vancouver so it makes sense if some of their process moves a little slower at first. Just be patient as we have all had to go thru this. :)

  2. Just letting y'all know that hubby did his POE yesterday and it was easy and smooth with no trouble. He crossed at 1000 island and imported his vehicle and they were friendly and easy going. He is due to arrive home tomorrow evening about the time I am home from work!!! Yay! He will do a review on the POE in a couple days in case anyone else is interested.... But it was uneventful. Good luck to all you! And dwheels just 15 more days!!!!

    Congrats!! That's excellent news! :)

  3. Ours still says ready... is this reason to be concerned.... I am so upset :/ 48 hours later.

It may just be going thru additional processing, just be patient and it will work out. :)

YES YES YES!!!! We have "issued" for the visa!!!! Holy ####### now it's just waiting on the mail and the move here!!!!!

Congrats! Keep an eye out for the email about the visa being returned, should be receiving that in the next few days.

  4. Congratulations!! So tell us how it all went! I am starting to freak out a bit lol! Hubby's appointment is tomorrow at 1p and he is driving down to stay with his aunt in Montreal tonight so he is close for the appointment tomorrow! Mostly I just feel happy and have a ton of nervous energy! I am sooo hoping it all goes ok!!

Thanks! It was super easy as others have said. Dropped cell phone off downstairs, went thru security then upstairs The view over Montreal from the 19th floor is stunning. We sat in the middle section and waited about 15 min to be called to window 2. The clerk asked for forms including the updated tax forms. All I brought for taxes was the 2015 info since they already had the 2014 and that was completely acceptable. They took Jason's fingerprints then we sat back down. I went and fumbled with the soda/snack machine for a bit but to no avail. About 25 minutes later Jason got called back for the interview, it lasted about 15 minutes then he came back approved! Once you're done they want you out of there quickly so we left and took some pics on the steps outside for Facebook with huge smiles on our face.. lol then walked down to A&W to grab a soda and try to decompress. All in all a very good experience, no confetti drop or anything when we got approved but just happy it's done. That was on Friday, today, Jason received email notification his passport is ready to be picked up. Super fast turn around time and frequent updates on the CEAC site. Bittersweet that his passport arrived back today as today is also our 3 year wedding anniversary.

Happy to report; APPROVED. Interview went swimmingly and they barely even asked about my Hubbys previous TD visas etc. phew. All in all it was a super easy day! Just got back to our town so finally had the time to write in. Congrats to all others moving forward, and to you flyawayfree; I will write a review later- but if there are any questions before tomorrow please ask!

    Congratulations!!!

Y'all please keep us in your thoughts and prayers... Interview in Montreal at 1p est and I am freaking out with nerves!!

    It's just gotta go well!!!

It will go great! No worries!!

  5. I agree, I am sure they are still out celebrating in Montreal and that is why they haven't checked in yet! So selfish I want to celebrate with them! haha. But I agree changes can sometimes set you off, especially when you have things pre planned in your head. But all will be well, and you and your hubby will be together soon, bigger picture is that y'all love each other and support each other endlessly <3

We did celebrate quite a bit after Jason got approved last Friday. :goofy:

Everything went really smooth, even the security guards were friendly. lol After the interview the status changed to AP, then on Saturday it changed to Issued. All in all a really great experience and just glad it's over with. Funny how you feel a weight lift off when it's over with.

If you go to the Montreal consulate, bring US coins as their soda/snack machines are super picky about bills.

Montreal is an awesome city, use Uber as it's way cheaper to get around.

  6. WOOHOO! Just got back into the states late this AM. What a crazy few days! The best feeling in the world was seeing my husband walk out of his interview room holding up this "Welcome to the USA" paper! :) I will write a full report of the interview in the Montreal interview area.

Our visa status still says "READY", does anyone know how long it usually takes to be "ISSUED"? We paid the $20 for Courier service too.

You have to wait to pay your Green card fee until you get your visa right and enter a POE? I am pretty sure we will need my husbands Alien #, but not sure if that is in the visa packet you are not allowed to open for your POE. Lol visa approved and still have all these questions.

Woot!! Congrats!! That must have been an amazing feeling to see him come out with that letter!!

From what I've read you have to wait for your visa to arrive before paying the final fee. I think you then have the option to pay it later after POE, but if you have the means then no real reason to wait.

    Super excited for y'all!! :goofy:

  7. Well im going to US and All i hear from wife and others is All the coffee they drink. But i can always Go for a beer :)

    No i got a New a-number.

Make sure to check out Big Top Brewing in Sarasota. They just released a beer called Hawaiian Lion. It's a porter brewed with coffee and toasted coconut, it's absolutely delicious! So you can technically say you're having coffee.. just better.. lol

  8. Thank you!

Well I only live an hour's drive from the border, and I had my car packed up and ready to go.

I drove across into Detroit through the tunnel and the officer at the outside booth was quite rude, but I'm pretty used to that there. Once I was inside at secondary inspection it was ok. The CO helping me had never done one before so he was asking another officer how to do things. They also used mine for training for others. He asked me a few questions and it took about a half hour. Everything that I sent CIS and NVC was in the packet mailed to me. Overall the process was fine, but I hardly ever see any smiles in Detroit.

    Word! Congrats!!! :goofy:

  9. Just wanted to give an update: my wife received the email with the tracking number on Monday and her passport with the visa will be delivered tomorrow. Unfortunately, she came down with a bad case of bronchitis in Montréal, so she will make her POE after a few days extra rest on Sunday.

We are so glad that this process went as smoothly (and relatively quickly) as it did and we are truly grateful for all the very helpful information and tips we received from people here on these forums. Good luck to all of you for a speedy end to your visa journey !

Just got word from our COSMOS approved. Husband in and out less than an hour. :dancing: :joy:

Congrats to both! How exciting!!! Woot!! :goofy:

  10. Hi everyone,

We got a Checklist dated 3/17/16 - is that the same as a case complete letter? It just told us 2 items to bring with us in person to the interview in Montreal. Last time i checked that is where everyone in Canada goes for their interviews. Anyway, we are wondering when we are supposed to schedule the medical exam? Will they give us enough time between notification of the interview date and the actual interview date for this? My husband is in Calgary and it appears the nearest doctor is in Surrey, which means he has to fly to Vancouver for the medical. Sure wish they had a doc in Alberta.

So I put myself on the checklist with a case complete date of 3/17/16 but not sure if this checklist is really a case complete letter. Let me know so I can correct that if needed.

    Thanks so much

It sounds like the Case Complete letter but it's always safer to call NVC and ask for sure. Once the interview is scheduled you can schedule your medical exam. From the dates I've seen on the spreadsheet for Canada, it's roughly a month from notification to interview, give or take a few days.

  11. What a few days, I think I am having a mini heart attack! haha.

Today is my birthday, trying to age gracefully

Tomorrow I have a AM flight to Montreal, (hopefully no flight delays)

and Thursday is the day...my husbands interview!!!

I can't believe it is less than 48 hours away now..please send us all the good energy and positive vibes you can muster up. (L)

Happy Birthday!!! Wow, you got a lot going on at once, how exciting!

It should be smooth sailing up there so no worries. Sending super positive vibes, y'all will do great!

  12. OMG I think I can finally get a little excited. I really never thought I would make it this far. I am a researcher of many things an have always prided myself with being about to figure anything out. But I have to say this process has been a nightmare. Each step I was for sure that I had forgotten something or misunderstood what they wanted ... so to make it to this point YAHOO! I initially went to a Lawyer but just couldn't see spending $5000 just for him to do paperwork. Thinking back I still can't see spending that kind of money for someone else to fill out our info. We just passed our 1 1/2 year marriage date and so far we have spent 51 days together =)/ =(

It's a great feeling to know it's almost over with!

    Issued! :)

    Yay! Congrats!!! :goofy:

    Hello community!

So excited and prepping for my interview with MTL on April 15th!

    Two Questions --

On our Interview Letter, it says we need to show PROOF OF APPLICANT'S LEGAL RESIDENCE, we got a 'J' next to the letter, which means "we sent in a photocopy and they need the original" -- but I only submitted my passport, birth cert, police cert, and marriage cert. ANY IDEA WHAT THIS CIVIL DOC IS? Or what I need to prove that I live in Canada legally? OR is this my Husband's US PASSPORT to prove he lives in the US legally as a citizen? Confused by the term 'Applicant' here.

    also --

In the P4 document for the MTL consulate, it says that Step 5 for preparation is to: Obtain the ORIGINAL I-864 AOS and copy of recent US Tax Returns,

We sent the Original copy to NVC with the returns and in our Interview letter we got a 'Y', which says that NVC sent it to Consulate. Typing this now, I guess it's safe to assume NVC sent the originals to the consulate and as long as we show the photocopies during the interview we should be fine? No need to re type out an 'original' I-864?

Any confirmation at this point greatly appreciated. Just trying to make sure every single document is in order for the interview to go smoothly. We've waited WAY too long for anymore delays. (ten months and counting... overall process over 1 year and a half)

    THANK YOU

    J

I called the NVC for clarification on what exactly the interview letter was saying to bring. The rep was super helpful and knowledgeable about the letter and what the codes meant as far as what documents to bring. Really put me at ease.
