  1. So I called USCIS today to see if I could get an update. The woman on the phone still could not tell me anything about my RFE that I sent back roughly a month ago but she did say that once they receive the RFE your case starts over from day one and that I shouldn't expect an EAD card for at least another month. Bummer, right? Well right after I got off the phone I decided to check the mail and sure enough my EAD approval letter was there. How horribly organized must USCIS be if they can't even properly document cases so that when someone calls for an update they're not fed wrong information?

    AOS received 4/11/15

    Biometrics 5/5/15

    RFE 5/11/15

    RFE response 5/28/15

    EAD approval letter 6/29/15

  2. Has anyone had a RFE? maybe we can track ours together. I'm going crazy checking everyday. My husband tells me to be patient but am not patient like him lol

My case was received on April 11th and I got an RFE on May 15th. I set up an Infopass appointment before responding to the RFE because I wanted to make sure I responded correctly so I didn't mail the RFE back until May 31st. Haven't received any notification whatsoever since then. The last update from the website is in regards to the RFE being sent to me May 15th.

  3. Welcome here :) Your situation is new to me, and this is the first time I came across this. In my understanding, anything you claim as INCOME should be declared (regardless if the category falls under non-taxable or something). But since I really do not know how it works with your case, I could not really give any advise but to wish you with all the best in your upcoming meeting. And please do share your experience as that's gonna help people in the same situation.. :)

Yeah I think my situation is definitely one of the more unique ones. Over the phone they said there's probably nothing to worry about, it's just that the officers look at hundreds of cases daily and the first thing they look for is a W-2. In my case none of the income I'm claiming is taxable so I had no reason to file taxes last year.

  4. Hey guys, first post here so I'll give some basic info on my situation and timeline.

I'm a US citizen filing for my Russian wife. We sent all documents in early April and they were received April 10th, checks cashed April 12th. We received an RFE a week after biometrics on May 15th. The RFE is for income verification and their issue is that I did not send a 2014 tax return. The reason for this is because I am a veteran and go to school full time on the G.I. Bill. The housing allowance I get from this in addition to a lifetime monthly annuity I receive is well above the required income amount. I sent all documentation verifying this in the original packet along with a cover letter explaining the details but the RFE specifically said they wanted to see a W-2. So instead of just resending the same stuff that I already sent before the RFE I have scheduled an appointment for this Friday with the San Antonio office. Hopefully we can get everything settled there and get back on track. It is to my knowledge perfectly acceptable to use the G.I. Bill and a monthly annuity payment as proof of income. Fingers crossed!
