  1. Dear VJ members,

I am writing to see if anyone has the same situation as we do.

We called NVC and learned that our case is completed and immediately shipped to embassy, WITHOUT NVC scheduling an interview for us. We were told the embassy will schedule the interview, is it normal?

Our case is IR1, NOT expedited, to Scandinavian embassy.

Please comments if you have or seen similar situation.

    Many thanks!

  2. Hi,

In DS260, regarding previous employer address, should I put its current address or the address when I was working there?

I ask because this employer just recently moved to a different location.

So my previous submitted G325a has the old address, and now with DS260, what should I fill?

If I fill the new address, it won't be consistent with G325a.

If I fill the old address, I am not sure if it is the correct information either.

    Please kindly comment.

    Thank you!

  3. You're welcome!

And yup, the list looks good to me. Make sure you review if there are any country-specific documents for Finland (as well as any Chinese docs as well since that's where you're from originally.

I believe a copy would be fine (since originals are no longer needed at NVC).

I would say you might need it at the interview, but since the interview will take place in Finland, a translation shouldn't be necessary, so the original Finnish permanent resident card should be sufficient (so make sure you bring that card with you to the interview).

Thank you, dear Saylin, for your review and reminding!

I will double check country specific documents for China and Finland. And remember residence card to interview as well.

I deeply appreciate your help! Have a nice day!

  4. Hi, this is referring to the beneficiary when they're not living in their country of birth. For example, if someone was born in the UK but has been living in Canada for a decade, along with everything else needed in the IV package, they also need to send a copy of their Canadian permanent resident card, to show they're legally a resident of Canada.

    Dear Saylin,

Pardon me for one more question, for the translation accompanying my Finnish permanent residence card, does it need to be with original signature of the translator?

Considering the new requirement that NVC accept photocopies of civil documents. I am not sure if this applies to translation as well.

I ask because I have submitted the original translation during the I-130 stage, and what I have with me is a photocopy of the translation.

    Thank you again!

Thank you, dear Saylin, for your prompt response!

You just saved my day. I am about to mail my package tomorrow, and your IV package list alerted me of this document.

This is exactly my situation. I am Chinese citizen living in Finland for 8 years. I will include my Finnish residence permit card.

Below is the content of my IV package, could you please have a look and see if they are adequate?

    1. Barcoded cover sheet
    2. Cover letter
    3. Birth certificate of beneficiary, including English translation
    4. Copy of Marriage Certificate
    5. Copy of beneficiary’s passport biographic data page
    6. Copy of beneficiary's permanent residence permit in Finland, along with English translation
    7. Two photographs of beneficiary
    8. Copy of police certificate from Finland, issued in Finnish, Swedish and English
    9. Police certificate from Japan, original in sealed envelope
    10. Police certificate from China, including English translation

    Thank you!

  6. Dear Saylin,

Your NVC wiki page has been of great help for me! Thank you!

I have one specific question regarding one paragraph in your page:

    http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process#Step_7_-_Gather_IV_Package

"Please read the link here [23] for additional documents if applicable (such as petitioner documents in IR-5 cases or divorce/military records or proof of permanent residency, etc)."

Maybe I missed something, but what do you mean exactly by "Proof of permanent residency"? Permanent residency of petitioner or beneficiary?(as I understand the IV package is all about beneficiary) Or in what kind of circumstances this document is required?

    Your input is greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!
