  1. Does anyone know about the choice(boxes to check) between Naturalization or Status as Permanent Resident on the G-325A for an AOS candidate??

The boxes-to-check are located below the "employment last 5 years."

It starts out by saying "This form is submitted in connection with application for:"

and then it gives you the choices:

    Naturalization

    or

    Status as Permanent Resident

    Thanks,

    Sean & Gabi

Sorry folks, I did the dirty and posted before searching....

I think I found the answer here, but a few more confirmations would be great!!!!!

    Thanks,

  2. How 'surprising'. Yet another administration foot soldier refuses to fall on his sword for ####### and George - good to see them squirm, at least they would be squirming if the public weren't so used to this sort of corruption.

What amazes me is that, even now, there are people who are so consumed by party loyalty that they can't take that extra step and take a real honest look at these people who are running the country.

Yep, you guys are right....Bush is gone at the end of this term.....Oh, that's right his term's up, isn't it?

Sorry you two....It's four more years...four more years.....

Great - we've got to suffer this bunch for another 2 1/2 years.

I couldn't agree more... it's ougrageous what this admin has gotten away with... crazy!!!

What ever happened to to Paul Bremer's $9+ billion in cash gone missing?? Haven't heard much about that lately...

Or why the 911 investigation report took so long, and when it was finally released, it was missing many, many pages??

    check it out folks:

  3. Has it crossed your mind she's not after the visa??

If you get into a relationship thinking your SO can lack of several things you need and you want (like help when you can't handle something by yourself), because he gave you a visa, then I wish you a higher self steem...

    I agree.

But... there certainly ARE things that he SHOULD know about, such as NOAs!!! I think, in general, this whole process is a great test of a relationship.

They say there are three ways to get to know another person and find out if there is compatability: live, work and travel together. I think that saying should include the K1 Visa process. If you can do any of these sucessfully without a thermal meltdown of any kind, you are truly lucky! It sounds like you touched upon one of his idiosyncrasies that bothers you.

My advice: kick him in the ### (for motivation) and tell him how you feel.

  4. My fianceé actually found out that she was in the final stages of winning the visa lottery in Romania right before I was going to send the I-129F in...

We talked about it for about 5 or 10 minutes. We decided to go with the K1 Visa because we knew that we would have a 90-some% chance of getting it. Her notice for the Visa lottery wasn't a sure thing, and besides, it would've probably taken longer.

I would research more into which type of sponsorship-visa it is, and whether or not she would actually be able to stay permanantly.

  5. Thanks....I guess I won't worry yet....would love to attend that interview...but costs $1300 to fly over there and just did that a few months ago!

Shannon, find a cheap flight to London (Gatwick airport), take an easyjet (www.easyjet.com) to Rome and hop on a train to Napoli.... sounds complicated by American standards but it's much easier than it sounds!

easyjet flights from London to Italy are anywhere from $40-$120 one way, depending on when you buy. Add this up and you can have a trip for less than $700-800.

  6. There are mistakes everywhere, but they should consider we´re nervous couples in love and dying to be together. :P

Yeah, there are mistakes everywhere.... it just so happened that this mistake cost us 3 months of OUR time.... it's like what Henry Rollins says, "Time Killers!!"

I guess my point is to be vigilant and not to settle for the status quo. If we had been complacent with the whole situation we would probably still be waiting to hear back from the consulate.

It's obvious that "they" could care less about couples dying to be together. <_<

  7. Sorry to hear that.

What I did was contact my senator's office. The woman there who handles these things told me to send a very professional, formal letter asking the senator for his help. That's what I did and then a day later the woman called me back asking for a few more details. After that it was smooth...

Hmmmm...... I would ask to speak with a different aide or maybe petition a different senetor if thing are not going well.

It's amazing that the American Consulate in Moscow blew off the senator, because in a way the people there could lose their jobs doing stuff like that... I guess it depends on who the senator is, how long they have been in the senate, etc. Mine has quite a bit of influence.

  8. first, you need to overnight her all relevant documentation that she will need for her interview. do that first thing monday morning - pay whatever you have to.

next, call whoever you have to to get to the bottom of your plane ticket fiasco. don't be a wallflower.

I agree. And if you DID pay with a credit card try to see if they might handle it (in getting your money back), make it sound like the situation is a scam, which I do believe it is. The CC companies will usually always side with customers because they want to keep them

  9. I know americans do keep scrapbooks, but us brazilians only keep things as teens, candy wrappers from boyfriends and stuff like that, but I stopped that at age 15! :P I´ve always wanted to put together a scrapbook with Luis, but the thing is, I have the habit of throwing away papers every year, after I believe they´ll no longer be used, that´s why I don´t have receipts and such.

Laura, I hear what you are saying... it was pure luck that I had kept those receipts and ticket stubs because my trip to Italy was last minute.

  10. Sean,

Is there anyway I can find out when they actually sent the K-1 to the Embassy?

Usually the letter from the NVC says "will send your K1 packet to the *blank* Consulate within seven days," or something like that, I can't remember the exact wording.

Anyhow, figure on seven days, then figure maybe a week to get there (being very generous here with time, I know), then I would start thinking about calling the Consulate and just try asking them.

Or just call the NVC and ask them when it was sent(I didn't do this so your mileage may vary). I guess I would wait a month tops and then go to higher powers, ie your senator. It really, really, really helped for us.
