Fiance had his interview this morning and after a two-hour wait and a five-minute interview, he was APPROVED!!

APPROVED!!!!!!!
Yay!!!! Congratulations!
-
interview tomorrowwwwww!!! ???
Sending good vibes your way!

hi! we were told we need to request an extension. we are US/Australia and the sydney consulate said YES we need to ask for an extension.. (our approval ends 10/25 and our interview is 10/27) so we were told the US petitioner needs to write a letter requesting the approval be extended and state that you are both still free and willing to marry within the 90 days. then we had to scan it and send it back to them.
so it is better to ask your consulate just to be safe!
EDIT: Sorry I read your dates wrong! it is only important to extend your petition if your interview is AFTER the expiration date. goodluck!
Thanks so much for following up! I got through to the USCIS yesterday and got the same response so it's a huge relief!
-
congrats! no, you don't need an extension. the expiration just means that the interview/medical exam must take place before that date. you would have only needed an extension if your interview was scheduled for after that date. good luck!
Thank you-- you're a lifesaver, shellymarie! Super psyched to be reaching the final stages, as I'm sure you are too!!

So after almost two weeks of attempting to schedule an interview with the U.S. Embassy in Ankara...we finally have it set for Oct. 6! It's obviously later than we wanted but 50 or so days seems like a breeze compared to what we're use to.
Quick question for anyone that might know this— our I-129F petition expires Oct. 11. Do we need to seek an extension? I'm not entirely sure what that expiration date means exactly, so any feedback would be appreciated. Planning to contact USCIS to get more clarification.

Everything has moved so much faster after our case got to the NVC and receiving our case number! Our case was updated to Ready on the CEAC yesterday and I got an email with instructions on documents we need to send to the Embassy, as well as an all-clear to go ahead and set up the interview. So surreal but so, so exciting!

Awesomeness!! Did they tell you when they received it? Hoping they have mine there soon! Should be about a week or so before they send it off to the Embassy. They use DHL which usually delivers it within a week.
They received it July 10! Hope you get some good news of your own soon!

Finally got our case number!! Couldn't be happier...well, unless this whole thing was over and done with! Now we're just settling in for our last longish wait for them to send the case to the Embassy in Ankara.

From the timelines that I have seen, it usually just takes about a week top before they process them and send them off. I spoke to an NVC official and she stated that once they receive the case, they simply apply a case number and ship it off to the embassy. She said it's not long at all for K1's before they are out the door again. I hope this helps but you will be fine, at the very least you now know that your file is at the NVC and not between USCIS and NVC limbo lol.
Haha! So true, I think if I'd have to wait past the 30 day mark for my case to be received I would have a panic attack that it was lost somewhere along the way. Here's hoping I get a case number in the next couple of days!
-
i doubt it'll be 4 weeks before they assign a case number. did they say when they received it? from what i've seen, the case numbers are usually assigned the same day, or within a few days of receiving it.
either way...i would just keep calling. once in the morning and once in the evening, until you get your case number. the day i got my case number, i was told in the morning that it wasn't there yet, and in the evening that it was received 2 days earlier, and the case number was assigned the same day lol. sometimes it just takes them a while to get all the systems on the same page.
Oh, that's reassuring! Thanks for the heads up, I'll try again this evening when I get home and see if there's a case number assigned. I've been following your timeline, just because we had NOA2s around the same time, and I see you're case is at the embassy-- so exciting!! Can't wait to be that far along after all this pesky NVC business!

Another frustrating, yet hopeful week for us, as I just called NVC and they said that the case was received but then said there's still no case number. When I asked how long that would take, she gave me another "4 weeks." Getting so bummed! Anyone else experiencing hold ups at the NVC? I know some of you have had longer waits, so I'm probably just being impatient again.
-
yep! that's the right number. just a question...by "nothing" do you mean they don't have a case number for you yet? or just that you haven't been able to get through? because if it's just that you can't get through, you have to keep redialing...sometimes 30, 40, 50+ times in a row. even when you "get through" it's still an automated message at first, but it's different than the "busy" one. so just make sure you listen to it for a second before you hang up to redial. once you get through that, you might be on hold for up to 30+ minutes. but they "should" have a case number for you by now. my NOA2 was june 11th and the case number was assigned on the 27th. good luck!
Ahh, thanks! And yes, they just keep telling me they haven't received it yet and give me the standard "35 day wait" spiel. I keep thinking it should be ready any day now, so here's hoping it's this week!

Hi guys,
I'm possibly just being impatient but I received my NOA2 on June 12 and I've called the NVC a handful of times after the two-week mark and still nothing. Just to make sure, I should be calling the 603-334-0700 number-- correct? They always start with that automated message about a non-immigrant line and I wasn't sure if that was the line I should have been calling all along.

April 30th filer here and received the NOA2 on Friday. The case status was updated on the USCIS website and it says our case was approved on June 12, only I just found out because I didn't bother to log in over the weekend! Such a happy day! Sending good vibes this week to everyone who is still waiting!

It's going to be a courthouse wedding for us as well! But we're actually taking a year or so post-courthouse wedding to plan a larger (yet still smaller in the grand scheme of things!) celebration. Being from the south, I'm definitely not picturing the traditional big southern wedding, but we do want some of our out-of-town/country guests to be able to celebrate with us.

Thought I'd share my timeline on this board, since I've been following the April filers thread religiously and getting thoroughly depressed seeing all their NOA2s steadily pouring in!
4/30/15 - I-129F sent
5/11/15 - NOA1 email notification
5/14/15 - NOA1 hard copy
Here's hoping to a speedy NOA2 for all us May filers!

Thanks everyone! It's been a wonderful day. Hard work pays off, so those of you still waiting on that interview-- don't be discouraged!
