Hello! My green card has finally arrived after all the CR-1 process and we couldn't be happier but it's under my maiden name despite we filling all the USCIS forms under my married last name.
My question is: could I still have my DL and SSN issued under my married name regardless of the name printed on my GC? If so, how should we proceed?
Any help is much appreciated. We've read about it but we can't seem to find consistent info on that matter.
Thank you very much

Approved on the 26th. Thank God this step of the journey is finally over.
Now we are so anxious to see our status change from "Ready" to "Issued". Does anyone know hoe long it usually takes?
We are so anxious to see each other again!!!! Don´t lose hope because even the complicated journeys come to a happy ending at some point.
All I want now is to have my passport back and fly back home.
Thanks you all for your help and support.

Good luck!
That's exactly right, the worse they can do is say no.
I also requested an earlier date and our embassy was full so they couldn't give me one. They just said they would keep the original date. No harm done.
Congratulations!!
Thank you so much for your reply! I was so worried already...

Happy February to everyone! I hope this month is generous to all of us and we can be with our beloved ones soon.
I just emailed Rio Embassy to check if they have an earlier interview date and now I'm so anxious. I'm actually more afraid of have gone wrong doing that but the most they can say to me at this point is no, right?
Fingers crossed that they do attend my request.

Ooooops, the link won't go through. Makes sense though lol
Anyways, EAC was for Vermont, LIN for Nebraska, SRC Texas e WAC California.
-
No problem!
I was doing some further search and it sounds to me like all already existent Service Centers had dual acronyms at first (their "official" name and the way people used to call each of them).
Take a look at this link to an old webpage: http://www.***removed***/immigration/decipher-uscis-case-receipt-number.html
For example, California Service Center still keeps its old official acronym. My receipt was WAC #### for "Western Adjucation Center", its former denomination.
I imagine that for it being new, not everything is already 100% set up. I guess YSC is the initials for their official name and PSC their "popular" name.
I hope it helps to calm your heart down a little. Everything will be fine
Thanks Pedrita. its just that I'm confused because some sites refer to it as PSC. but then I read others that say its YSC..

YSC is Potomac Service Center. Their recently opened one.
I got this info from a Google search in which I looked for "YSC service center uscis".

Thank you very much to the person who helped me track down my process on its way to Brazil. I was at work and ended up no replying right away but I do appreciate it.

It changed earlier today, around 11am
Thanks!

When did it change?
As soon as I get to my desk I will send you a thread.
It will help calling NVC asking when it was shipped out.
CEAC does not update real time.

How do you find out your tracking number for the file being sent from NVC to the Embassy? My status just changed to "in transit",
-
I've asked for this to be moved to the Brazil section for you.
I appreciate it!

Hello, VJ friends!
First of all, I apologize because I don´t know how to post this question onto the Brazil-related forum.
I have my interview to the CR-1 visa scheduled for February 26th and my husband mailed out the original civil documents we´ll need this past Tuesday through USPS regular international mail delivering. I´m wondering how long other Brazilians who´s got documents mailed out to them had to wait until they arrived.
I´m so worried I won´t receive the documents on time for the interview.
Thanks!

I'm wondering the same since my interview is on 02/26 and my status says the same...at NVC.
Hi guys I have an upcomong interview , but my case status still shows at NVC is this normal ?
-
Thank you so much! Is it the $165 fee?No there are no fess to pay you paid your fees through NVC. All that's left is after Visa is received the Green card Production fee that you can pay either before you leave or after you arrive in US. Paid online.
-
Good day
Does anyone know if there's any fee to be paid at the Embassy or Consulate upon the interview for the CR-1 visa? If so, how much is it?
Thanks in advance

I woke up this morning to an email from NVC scheduling my interview: February 26th in Rio de Janeiro. Thank God...I hope it all goes well and I can see my husbannd after so long
Also, congratulations to everyone who´s got CC and interviews the pest couple of days!
-
I used option 7 and I called 3 times last week and then again yesterday.
Don't let the representative discourage you from calling. I had a couple of unhelpful ones, but for the most part they are nice. That's what they are there for, to answer your questions and help you.
Thank you very much!
-
Hello, everyone!
May I ask which option you're choosing when you call NVC regarding an interview date? I called today and pushed option 7 but the attendant kind of yelled at me for being calling instead of waiting for an appointment letter ???
-
Hello
We just got our CC today. I called NVC already and was told to wait for the email scheduling the interview to arrive. I am so grateful and happy now.
I hope my husband and I can finally close the distance soon. [fingers crossed]
-
I am really happy for you, you touched me with all the anxiety you showed.
Congratulations and best of luck on the rest of this roller-coaster trip.
Please, please, check
https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw==
and let us know how many days it takes from today when I am pretty sure still says AT NVC until it changes to READY.
Thank you! I´ll sure let you know when NVC schedules our interview
-
So happy for you
Now it´s just time to call NVC a hear them and wait for interview date.
Good luck
remember to join the CC post in the forum
Thank you very much! I didn´t even know there was a CC forum.

Thank you so much!
Thanks to everyone for your kind words and all the help you´ve provided us with. Good luck to everyyone still waiting

OMG, OMG, OMG...after all the stress this morning because of having the scan date changed to the 7th, it´s my turn to say that I´ve finally got a CC! Thank God.
This has been a hard journey for my husband and I so far but I know it will be all right in the end.
Scan date: 12/02...or 12/07, who knows.
-
Here is an important issue.
If the scan date is 12/07 , 01/18 will be 30 BUSINESS days. So 30-days letter means 30 BUSINESS days???
I really can't tell anymore. I just can't get over the fact of having had my Scan date moved to Dec. 7th. It doesn't make any sense to me.
Am I the only one remaining here with scan date of Dec. 2nd initially?

I feel so very sorry for you guys.
I made the same mistake your wife did 3 years ago when I left to Brazil with an expired American visa, in the middle of our AOS process and following someone’s wrong advice as well.
My husband and I got desperate when I realized I couldn’t go back any time soon - we contacted the US Embassy in Brazil, he made an appointment at a service center etc and it didn’t help much - my AOS process was considered abandoned.
we then had to start it all over again and apply for a CR-1 visa. Our process took 10 months from beginning to end. It was horrible to live 10 months apart from my husband but my advice to you is to apply for the CR-1 for your wife ASAP - it’ll be a long and tedious process.
oh, also when I went to the visa interview in Brazil for my CR-1 the officer had the cancelled AOS in my file and I had to explain myself - just tell the truth and admit that I didn’t know what I was doing. He also had in file a letter that my husband wrote on his appointment at the service center explaining how it all happened and withdrawawing from our former AOS. Upon interviewing the officer did match my version of he story to the letter my husband had written and it matched perfectly (and I think that was what saved our a***) - maybe you should schedule an appointment at your local service center, be upfront with them and they will most likely request you to write a letter right there explaining everything; you can’t brong it from home - it has to be done in person, in front of the officer at the service center.
and be patient. It will take a while but it will work out in the end.
Finally, you will hear many advice here saying that she will never be able to come back etc - I did a lot when I asked the same question here 3 years ago. Don’t panic, it’s not true, as long as you go to the service center ASAP to explain your situation and she tells the truth in the CR-1 interview. Do NOT wait until the interview letter for the abandoned visa comes!
i hope this was helpful. Best of luck to you and your wife.
