Okay, thanks, I guess we won't be getting it then since we were only there as visitors for some months.
I did end up finding the info I was looking for and it appears that you can get the document instantly.

Hi Butchmoore 16,
Very sorry to hear about this. I have a question about your situation because I have a similar issue.
Was your USCIS petition approved and you were denied at the consulate interview? Our petition was approved and we have an interview so now I am very worried that we came all this way for nothing.

Hello,
Does anyone have personal experience getting a Guatemalan police certificate and know how long it takes? I know you have to go in person. My hubby is not Guatemalan but we are thinking to get it "just in case" before his interview because they might ask for it since we did spend an extended amount of time there, albeit as tourists. We are wondering if it's provided instantly or if you have to wait a few weeks to get it.
TIA!

Alright, thank you for your help! I figured the NVC would get the old address and then send the information about the next steps there, which is what I was hoping to avoid. But I guess it's not a big deal, especially considering that I can't really seem to find any way to change the address right now.
Thanks,
Kate

Hi,
New to the forum here. I am a USC. We just had our I-130 approved after an RFE. It took a total of about 4 months. Not too shabby! I still haven't received the approval notice, though. I checked our case number and found out online that it was approved. So, now we're waiting for the approval notice and next steps from the NVC.
The thing is, we moved to Mexico, far from the country where we filed the petition. I want to change the address with the USCIS but the form I tried to fill out online won't let me input a foreign address. Granted, I actually want to switch FROM a foreign address to a US address (the address where we finally plan to settle if the visa is approved). However, I can't input a foreign address as the old address, so it makes it impossible to complete the form.
Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks,
Kate
Traveling before going to port of entry
in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
Posted
Hello,
I'd like to get some feedback. I am wondering if anyone has the experience of traveling to a different country (not the visa holder's home country) before going to the Port of Entry. My spouse was approved for his IR-1 visa and has till October to come to the United States. We want to spend a couple months abroad before going to the port of entry together as a family... is that okay or will that be frowned upon by the CBP officer?
Thanks in advance!
