  1. Hey All -

So my fiancé's interview is in a few weeks - which is so much sooner than we expected! Its exciting. I won't be able to be there but we have so much evidence and I front loaded the I-129F with a lot of evidence so I think we will be ok. I have some general questions about documents and things for the interview. In this forum I saw some documents listed that I didn't think were necessary and just want to check before I expedite some documents to Ecuador.

    1. Do you need to include a W-2 with the I-134? From what I read on the instructions on the form it is only necessary if the sponsor is self employed. We have the other financial evidence (bank statement, letter from employer, etc). I just want to make sure.

    2. Does my fiancé need the original documents of the following:

    • NOA1 and 2
    • My (the petitioner's) birth certificate

    3. does his police record and birth certificate need to be translated? If so, can we just do that? or does it need to be official and notarized?

My last question is about the medical exam - will my fiancé not know until the interview how it went or if he needs any treatments? I am sure we will be fine but they didn't tell him anything when he picked up his results. I just wanted to make sure this is what normally happens. If he needs vaccines or anything will they let him know at the interview?

Thanks everyone so much for posting your experiences - they have been so helpful!

  2. Hi all -

I need your help! I filed our I-129 in June, and we have received our NOA-2 and it was approved with no RFEs. I received an email from the US Consulate in Ecuador about a month ago with instructions on the required paperwork and things that need to be done in order to schedule the interview. How much time do we have to collect this information? We are not hoping for him to move to the US until next Spring. I know that once you get a K1 visa you only have 6 months to enter the U.S., so we are taking our time. However, I also don't want us to take too much time if it will hinder the process at all.

Nowhere on the email or in any instructions does it indicate a deadline or timeline. Any help or feedback on this would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!

  3. Hello Everyone,

I have some general questions on mailing address things as well as proof of our ongoing relationship. Any help would be VERY appreciated as I am currently in medical school and am trying to finish the I-129F before I leave the country for my summer break (on top of all my school work and everything!).

    1. Mailing Address. I cam a student and in three weeks and I will be on break and traveling for 2 months. After that I will be moving to another city (I still don't have an apartment). I normally use my parent's address for important documents, which is in a completely different state. What mailing address should I use? It is ok if my mailing address for the I-129F is different than my physical addresses on the G325-A? Also, which address should I put on the cover letter - or can I just leave out an address on this? Or would it be better to submit everything with my current address and then as soon as I leave on vacation change the mailing address to my parents (even though I won't be living there...).

    2. Address in the United States where your fiancé intends to live. Again, this is hard, because I don't know where I will be moving to yet and so I don't know where he will be living. Should I put my current address (which is going to change), or my parent's address?

    3. Proof of ongoing relationship. I meet my fiancé while I was living in Ecuador. We have been together since then, and I moved back to the US a year ago. This is a total of 2.5 years and a lot of evidence. I have the typical evidence showing my trips to ecuador in the last year, but what kind of evidence should I show of our relationship while I was living in Ecuador? I have pictures and emails but that is all. Also, should I show my initial flight to Ecuador when I moved there and should I include photocopies of my visa while I stayed there? Do I need to explain what I was doing while I was there?

    4. Part 2 Question 34a. I am writing up a supplement that explains how we met and then the dates of our meeting/trips since we met. This evidence will then be included in the proof of ongoing relationship. Is this appropriate?

thank you every so much for all of your help! I would be so lost without this community!

  4. Hello everyone!

I have been searching a lot on these forums for the answer to this question and I keep getting conflicting evidence. I am crunched on time to send in the I-129. I will be leaving the US in one month to visit my fiancé (who lives in Ecuador) for 2 months this summer, and I want to file the I-129 before then. I thought I could just have him sign, scan and email me his letter of intent to marry and the G-325A and then I would send them in the packet, but some people have been saying original copies are necessary.

What is the consensus here? Should I use scanned copies, or original copies? Also, if people do recommend original copies, how long does mailing take? I have only 1 month until I leave....anyone know a good quick mailing service in Quito, Ecuador? Also, one of my friends suggested that he send his signed scanned copies and then I just trace over his signature with ink so that it will have the ink mark. any thoughts?

Thank you for all of your help!

  5. Thank you all so much already for your great advice!! I feel confident that with this website I can hopefully figure everything out! Great to hear the Guayaquil Consulate has gotten better. I will try my best to be there for his interview, its just hard with my schedule and being in school. I am guessing he will interview in December if I can file by the end of this month? That is my hope at least!

  6. Hello Everyone -

I am starting the process of applying for a K-1 Visa. My fiancé is Ecuadorian and I am currently a medical student in Phoenix, AZ. I'd like to have my I-129 filed by the end of this month. Do you all have any main suggestions for me as we start this process or any good resources that you would recommend? I am sure I will have lots of specific questions as the time goes on. Also, Is it reasonable to put together all of the information needed for the I-129 in 2 weeks? I am studying/busy for about 10 hours every day and can commit about 5 hours a week to the process. Let me know what you think!

Thank you so much for your help!

    Sincerely,

    Jenni
