Approved!! I just got the mail and there was my wife's new GC, sweet!! Thanks to everyone for their great advice and support. Although, they didn't update her last name like I had asked, so I'll have to call them about that tomorrow. But we're happy right now!!

We were in the same predicament because we got married in Ecuador and my wife couldn't change her name down there for the first round of paperwork. So they told us when we applied for the 751 we can submit a name change request then. We just needed to submit a marriage document with a letter of instruction, then the new green card will come with her married name. Then from there you can change the SSN card and license, etc. The green card is seen as the governing document that even tells SSN what to do. I got all this info from the USCIS call center. I would recommend calling them and seeing if it is too late since you already filed. Suerte!!

I just noticed that on our original NOA of receiving our ppwk there is a "Receipt number" which is different than the "application number" on our biometrics appointment notice. Both start with WAC. neither are available online. On the sheet we filled out today at the appointment we put the number that was on the appointment notice. Any idea which one's right?? Kinda worried now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

We recently sent our ppwk off to the CSC due to the May change in service centers (before that it would have been Nebraska since we're in Ohio) Anyway, got our NOA and biometrics appointment notice no problem, but on our biometrics letter under Service Center it says WSC? Should I be worried about this? Just want to make sure our paperwork is not getting sent all over creation Thanks!

Do you know if it is OK for me to go with my wife to her biometrics appointment? On the appointment notice it says "Due to limited seating availability in our lobby area , only persons who are necessary to assist with transportation or completing the biometrics worksheet should accompany you". I want to be there to make sure everything gets filled out correctly, since my wife's English is good but not 100%.

Another question, is this when she will get the stamp in her passport that grants her travel during the approval process?

Even if your letter were to come next week, the actual appointment would probably be no earlier than next month, so don't worry about going out of town for a week.

I know, I just don't want to miss the letter when we're out of town! our mailbox is gonna be full when we get back

We filed our 751, mailed on 7/21, got the NOA on 7/28 saying we will receive a notice for the time and date of my wife's biometrics. Do you know about how long it takes to receive that notice? Haven't gotten it yet, going out of town for a week this Friday, would like to have an idea when it might get here. Thanks!

Absolutely, you can add whatever you want. When we did proof for the original conditional residency we had a stack of emails as thick as a small phone book! We got approved without question

My wife and I are in that same situation right now. We got married and did all the original filing in Ecuador, and they don't really do name changes down there, so we submitted everything with her maiden name. Then when she got her and got her conditional green card, we called INS and they said she can officially change it when we do the 751. Since the green card is the governing document that tells the DMV and Social Security what to use, that needs to be done first. They say you could also do it any other time using a form (I-91 maybe??) but you have to pay for a new green card, like several hundred dollars. We just decided to wait till the I-751 and do it then to save all that money. Hope this helps you. Along with all the other proof paperwork we also submitted a copy of our marriage document (in spanish but with an english translation) and a letter of instruction to have the new green card say my last name

I just sent my ppwk off, did color printouts of photos because it was cheaper and really the same quality. I sorted my evidence by trip. For example, for our trip back to Colombia I attached boarding pass, email flight confirmation and pictures of our Colombia trip with little handwritten explanations where I fent necessary. I did that for all the trips we have taken, then at the end I just added a bunch of random misc pictures not really relating to any particular trip, also included little notes and dates when possible. I'll let you know how it ends up.

I didn't send nearly half of what I should have. I sent the I-715 in before I found Visa Journey, so that says it all.

I had sent copies of bank statements, copies of drivers licenses, car titles, car insurance, lease agreements, copies of my green card, copies of passports, and some other stuff I can't remember right now.

My big mistake was that I did not have everything organized and made easy for USCIS, so I fully understand why they sent me a RFE. This was all my own fault for not paying attention. On the bright side, they gave me a second chance to do it right this time

Wow, to me that sounds like you included a lot of stuff the first time around. But I think half the trick is thinking like a reviewing official, like you said, how easy it is for them to go through the stuff you sent in. I think I might have over-orgainzed, I paperclipped everything that went together so the left side of the stack is way higher than the right side because of all the paperclips. Oh well, all I can do is wait at this point. I hope it works out well for you this time around

You're welcome Yeyi, thanks for the message! Your cover letter looks really good, I wish I had invited them to come visit our home. Oh well, the package has been sealed, and I'm gonna go drop it off in a little while. I hope not yet having had kids won't hurt us in the proof area or make them think our marriage is any less valid because we decided to wait a few years for the little ones.

May want to include a copy of YOUR SSN card and driver’s license, I did this all on the same sheet, kind of let's them know the DMV was also fooled into thinking you have the same address.

Only other thing I see missing is birth certificates of children from your marriage, can you quickly have a kid or two in the next couple of days? Ha, don't worry about that, we couldn't do that either. But I did point out in my cover letter that between my wife and myself, eight children are listed under part five, and isn't Eight is Enough?

Wonder if that got a laugh, but don't know, was not called in for a RFE.

Yours looks good to me, ha, closed the cover letter, I as the US citizen wrote and typed that and personally invited any agents of the USCIS to come visit us. I also enclosed 4 sworn and notarized affidavits, what the heck, could have enclosed a hundred.

Is your wife from Colombia? So is mine, also visited there to meet all of my wonderful in-laws.

In Care Of is used, for example, if someone else is handling your mail. If you're going to be the one receiving any correspondence and not going to be absent from your address, then you don't need to put anything there. I just put N/A in that box.
