  1. Hi Bogota -

it seems that the DS-260 is really what triggers things at NVC regardless of when you send in your docs. In other words, if you send in your docs too early before you submit the DS-260 they will checklist you for the DS-260; if you send in your docs too late after submitting the DS-260 they will checklist you for the docs.

From what I put together, the scan date doesn't mean anything if you haven't sent in the DS-260...so start counting from the date you submitted your DS-260....don't worry about anyone else's case - it'll drive you crazy! It looks like NVC's workflow is that they start reviewing the DS-260 about 3 weeks after you submit it and then they start looking for your docs at the same time...then they complete the DS-260 review at 4 weeks....and that's when you will get a case complete or a checklist.

Anyway, that's my take on things!

Below is some communication between AILA and NVC which may provide some additional insight for you:

Is there anything AILA can do to assist the NVC in reducing document processing times or unnecessary processing delay inquiries (e.g., publicize instructions or expected waiting periods)?

Submit all supporting documents in one package rather than separately. Your case may be significantly delayed if you fail to submit all of your documents in one package. Remember to submit the coversheet on the top of the filing.

Ideally, the NVC will review all civil and financial documents at the same time as the DS-260. The NVC will check the system and if the system shows that there is incoming mail pending, it will wait for the case call-up date and review everything together. If 21 days pass since the filing of the DS-260 and the system does not show that there is incoming mail pending, the NVC will review the DS-260 and will issue a document checklist.

Well this coming Thursday will be exactly 3 weeks since I submitted the DS-260, I overnighted IV and AOS supporting docs on Friday so they should get there Monday. I hope they are in the system when they review my DS-260.

  2. uh no, sadly a lot of people over in the nvc thread including myself paid by mail in early May and it still will not showed as paid . Several of us had to pay again online for it to work over a month after the mailed payment . By all means I hope your case is a lucky one that works but these reps are giving a lot of false hope lately .

I sent money orders (IV & AOS) in last Thursday to the St Louis PO box and received the payment confirmation email yesterday. I called the NVC and the agent told me the Fees were paid as of Tuesday. He said to keep trying to access the DS-260 and if I still couldn't access it after 10 days from Tuesday I should call in and they will escalate it to a technical specialist to update my case on CEAS. Did you try the whole technical specialist things? Is it real or BS?
