Hi all. I wanted to run this question by the forum before looking for professional assistance (if required).

My mother (Dominican and living in Dom Rep) was petitioned by her sister in 2007 to become a resident. I recently became a US citizen and I wonder how I can use my current status to speed up her process since cases were US citizens file for siblings may take 10 years, whereas if I petition her it can take 6-12 months if I'm not mistaken.

1. Does she have to stop her current application so I can start a new one now as a son filing for a parent?

2. Is there a way to add me to her application process so my current US citizen status can accelerate things out while leaving the existing application by her sister (my aunt) in place?

Any other options?
