Not sure if anyone still follows this thread or is still waiting from the 2015 April filers, just wanted to update on my son's case. Applied his I130 and I485 April 2015. Received NPIW in July 2015. January 2016 his file was transferred from the National Benefits center to our local office in Philadelphia. Contacted Senator and Ombudsman in March 2016. July 2016 Ombudsman finally got back to us and told us my son should have an interview notice within 30 days, a week later we had a notice, interview was scheduled for Sept 21. Interview went smooth, immigration officer had no idea what to ask my son so he came out and called me in to ask me questions. I felt like I was doing my green card interview all over again. He asked me if my husband and I were still married. Asked me for my green card which I had to tell him I did not have it anymore since I naturalized in March 2016. Told me everything looked good and we were done. Thankfully he was not asked to redo his medical which had expired back in March. Received the welcome notice today and will probably receive his green card in the next couple of days since it was mailed out Friday. I am so happy and still trying to believe we are officially done with immigration (he derives citizenship through me), it was a long, stressful journey and hopefully our case was the last to finish in this thread.

Not sure if anyone is still following this forum from April 2015. In any case, looks like I may be the last one on this forum to get thru the process. Finally after 15 months , became citizen on 7/4. Yes, in a special ceremony. Long story short, painful wait ended.

Please update my timelines if anyone is still able to do it.

I hate being the bearer of bad news, but, Philadelphia is one of those offices that is really slow. They took almost a year to process my citizenship application and my son's AOS case is sitting at 14 months and still waiting.

Maybe a dumb question, but, when your son derives US Citizenship, does he have to file n600? I will have to do this for my hubby's kids after he gets naturalized, in 3ish years, the kids are 8 years old and 13 years old (hopefully the older on gets derivative, please let this process be quick)

(my hubby will be here in the US and probably visit mexico for 2 weeks, twice a year, no disruption there)

I'm filing i130 for my hubby's kids in mexico and if they get approved, the plan is for them to stay in US 7 months of the year then 5 months in Mexico until my hubby gets naturalization. Is this a good plan for them to get citizenship through their dad or it's telling USCIS that they do not plan on living in the US?

He doesn't have to file N600, he could just go and get the passport alone to prove his citizenship, however we are doing both. I will feel a whole lot better if he had the certificate and I think he will as well.

As for your other questions, I'm not to sure how that will all work out. I think you will have to adjust their status for them to stay, even if it is just 7 months of the year, I believe they will still need a green card, the I130 alone will not provide that. When we filed for my son, he was already here with me and we filed the I485 with the I130. Hopefully you can get better advice from someone who is more experienced in your type of situation.

Still waiting on an update for my son's green card, have not heard anything since we received the NPIW letter back in July 2015. Philadelphia is way to slow at processing things. It really sucks that this is the only thing that is holding us back from getting him a passport and filing N600 since he will derive citizenship through me. I suppose I only have myself to blame for doing everything so backwards and not researching as well in years past

Received a call from a USCIS officer on March 8th asking if I would be available to attend the Oath ceremony being held on March 11th, she emailed me the form I needed to take with me and I was sworn in as a citizen on the 11th of March, my journey is over

Also, I forgot to mention, worse case scenario, they may just schedule you for a 2nd interview when you have your passport ready to show them. Did you get anything from the passport agency stating you are renewing it and when you will get the new one, as proof to back up your story? If so, then take it with you. Again good luck. I am sure more experienced individuals will chime in if I am missing something.

That's my main problem. I don't have it anymore. I already surrendered it already 2 weeks ago. I have my copies of the visa with me. Do you think they are going to accept it or I need to reschedule the interview?

I wouldn't reschedule. If it were me, I would take what I had and go to the interview, explain why you don't have your passport. Then they can send an RFE if they really need/want it. Good luck!

I don't have it already. Maybe my passport is already in the Philippines for renewal. Is there any way I can only use my Advanced Parole and Employment AD for the photo ID. Plus my state ID.

Yes those ID's are what you use for photo identification, but, they will ask for your passport. If I remember right, they will want the passport you entered the US with, for verification purposes and travel history since arriving. Also, any other passports you have had since you entered the US, to travel with.

Indeed he is And we will officially be done with that when we have his passport in hand, then I will be able to sit and relax. Hardest part done woo hoo!

I am now (and finally) officially a United States citizen. Got there 45 mins early and had to wait to park until the 9am ceremony citizens left and freed up the parking area. Checked in 20 mins later. 10 mins after going through security all immigrants that were Naturalizing got called into the ceremony room. After we were all seated our guests were allowed to enter. We were all called up to the front to turn in our green cards and check our certificates for any errors before the ceremony started. After about an hour delay, the ceremony started. It was a very touching ceremony, definitely got me teary eyed. My journey with Immigration is now over. Wishing the rest of you, who are still waiting, the best of luck and a speedy Naturalization. Thank you for being apart of my journey.

Edited to add, the ceremony had 72 new Citizens from 33 countries

Thank you it will be a beautiful day weather wise and we plan to make a day of it after the ceremony. We will be going to see all the history Philadelphia has to offer. Just over 49 hrs to go

He got crossed the finish-line with only 17 days to spare.

Oh it is absolutely his lucky number now, I think this will be a birthday he will never forget, definitely a hard gift to beat.

And yes, the officer I spoke to emailed me my Oath letter and form to print and fill out, shortly after I spoke with her. I got it all filled out and in my purse with everything else, I am guarding it with my life, I am ready and counting down the hours

Thank you very much. How close until my son turns 18? He will be 18 on the 28th of March. It got closer then I wanted, but I am glad they did it for me and I told the officer I was so so very grateful she did.

Just to update everyone, came home today to a pleasant voicemail from USCIS. My expedite was approved due to my son aging out soon and she scheduled me for this Friday, March 11th at 11am. So excited and happy that all of this is finally almost over. Thank you to everyone, absolutely loved being apart of this thread and wish everyone still waiting, some good news soon. I will be back to share my Oath experience and I will keep watching this thread on everyone else's progress.
