  1. I have a question for my fellow October filers who have already gone through their oath...

When your online status is at "you have been placed in line for your oath, a letter containing the date and location for the oath will be mailed etc.", once USCIS does schedule the day and time for your oath, does your online status change to say something else? To something like "you have been scheduled for the oath and a letter was sent"

Or does it simply stay " you have been placed in line for the oath" and then you just have to wait and get the letter in the regular mail and that's how you find out?

    Thanks in advance!

Not always, but yes there is an interim status "oath ceremony scheduled" in between.

  2. Hi Rho!

It's okay to be nervous. I think it is just a mature and healthy reaction in this situation. I had the same set of questions as dooger.

    The civic questions were:

1.Who is the Governor of your state now?

2.What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen?

    3.Who was the first President?

    4. What did Martin Luther King, Jr do?

5.Where is the statue of Liberty?

    6.Name two national US holidays.

As for documents, the officer asked for my passport and my driver's license. He did ask for a social security card (which isn't a document in the list to bring either on the interview letter or the yellow letter that I received.) I did not bring it but the officer was super chill about it and said that it was okay.

Did you get any update since your interview?

  3. @bkboy77 my interview is coming up on May 21st in NYC. A bit nervous. I'm filing under the 5 year rule. Can you recall the questions you were asked? Did they check your documents?

Had my interview in Federal plaza few weeks ago, IO looked at my taxes downloaded from IRS web only (didn't take them though).

    Questions:

    1. Name Jury

    2. War in 1900

    3. How many representatives are there

    4. When is the president election

I don't remember last two, was to nervous as you are probably :), but there is no reason for that - so just relax and let it be.

Good luck, all you need - you already know as a member of this forum, nothing will be unexpected for you.

  4. Just finished my interview. The wait time took longer that the actual interview. Super nice immigration officer. He recommended my case for approval and that I should wait for an oath ceremony letter in the mail. He said that it usually takes between 1-2 months here in Brooklyn. I am just one step away from becoming a citizen. Thanks to everyone for their words of encouragement.

congrats, keep me posted when you get a text and/or email from them.
